Dorothy Faye Dunaway (born January 14, 1941) is an American actress. She won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the 1976 film Network.[1] She was previously nominated for Bonnie and Clyde (1967) and Chinatown (1974). She has starred in a variety of other successful films, including The Thomas Crown Affair (1968), Little Big Man (1970), Three Days of the Condor (1975), and Mommie Dearest (1981).
Dunaway was born in Bascom, Florida, the daughter of Grace April (née Smith), a housewife, and John MacDowell Dunaway, Jr., a career non-commissioned officer in the United States Army.[2] She is of Scots-Irish, English, and German descent.[3][4][5] She attended the University of Florida,[6] Florida State University,[7] and Boston University, but graduated from the University of Florida in theater. In 1962, Dunaway joined the American National Theater and Academy.

Faye Dunaway, despite having her career go downhill after Mommie Dearest, is still one of the more accomplished actresses alive today. Few actresses had the run of success that Faye Dunaway had from 1967 to 1981, which all started with the revolutionary crime drama Bonnie and Clyde. Dunaway, Warren Beatty and director Arthur Penn made Bonnie and Clyde a cultural milestone that couldn’t be topped by another version.

What’s your favorite Faye Dunaway movie?
rikyrah here: I have to say my favorite Faye Dunaway movie is Chinatown. It takes several viewings of it to really appreciate the nuance of Dunaway’s performance. Close behind it is Network….the thing about that movie is that it’s timeless..and more accurate today than when it was first done.
My father told us Clyde Barrow gave him a ride in his car. At that time he wasn’t married to my mother and he didn’t have a car. Back then, if you didn’t have a car, folks had to walk where they wanted to go and were happy when someone offered a ride. Well, Clyde Barrow saw my daddy walking and offered him a ride. Dad said right in the front on the floor was Clyde Barrow’s gun. He gave my dad a ride to this particular town but let him out of the car before they approached the courthouse. Dad said Clyde Barrow told him…I’m going to let you out here because I don’t know what could happen and I don’t want you to get caught in the middle of it.
My favorite Faye Dunaway movie is “Bonnie and Clyde”. Faye Dunaway owned Bonnie Parker. Sorry Hillary Duff, you cannot remake a classic.
