African American History: The First All African-American Female Flight Crew

All AA Female Flight CrewAtlantic Southeast Airlines flights 5202 (Atlanta to Nashville) and 5106
(Nashville to Atlanta) became the first commercial jet revenue flights to be
operated by an all-female all-African-American crew, on February 12. 2009. Captain Rachelle Jones and First Officer Stephanie Brown Grant piloted the Canadair Regional Jet CRJ-700 with Flight Attendants Robin Rogers and Diana Galloway taking care of the passengers on both flights. Captain Jones completed her
upgrade training during April 2008 and became the first African-American female
captain at Atlantic Southeast. Atlantic Southeast Airlines, part of the Delta
Connection, is owned by SkyWest, Inc.

    Interesting? I wonder if any of the passengers knew or even cared? I know a couple of black flight attendants I’ll now ask them if they’ve seen this…. Again good work!
