Michael Dunn Verdict Watch – Day 3

Judge Russell HealeyThe Florida jury in the murder trial Michael Dunn ended its second day of deliberations without a verdict.

Earlier in the day, they asked to see a foam mannequin that was used in court as a visual aid to show where unarmed teenager Jordan Davis was struck with bullets after an argument over loud music.

But the judge denied the jury’s request claiming that “Bendy” the mannequin was a demonstration, and not put into evidence.

The request came on the first full day of deliberations. They have been deliberating for 12 hours so far, and will resume at 9 a.m. Friday.

Jurors began the day by watching surveillance video of the moment that Dunn fired at a parked SUV and killed the teenager.

Prosecutors allege Dunn, 47, fatally shot Davis, 17, in a convenience store parking lot on Nov. 23, 2012 after Dunn asked the teen and his friends to turn down their music.

Dunn testified that he feared for his life and thought Davis was going to kill him, prompting Dunn to pull out his gun and fire nine times.

The #DunnTrial will be a judgment not just on 1 man but whether a white man’s fear & contempt is more worthy of indulgence than black life

  2. llip2 says:

The state of Florida is fighting to the nail to get this man off.

  3. Yahtc says:

Praying for a better world when all people will someday be able to sing:

  4. I have to leave for a bit. BBL!

    Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

    • GrannyStandingforTruth says:

Happy Valentine’s Day to you and everyone else as well. I’m turning my TV off and do what I gotta do around the house. I doubt if they reach a verdict tomorrow. Tomorrow, I might not even turn my TV on, unless they’ve reached a verdict.

    • Ametia says:

Like I said before, it’s traumatic for those white men on the jury to convict on of their own. That SYG law in the great ceaspool that is Florida is what they’re really fighting to hold on too.

  5. Breaking

    The jury has another question.

  6. GrannyStandingforTruth says:

The jury has another question for the Judge. This jury sure is trying to prolong the verdict, it must be close to dinner time. Do they get happy hours cocktails on the house too?

  7. **************
    I’m not buying this EITHER!

    • Yahtc says:

      My guess:

They are only going to convict on the counts of 3 counts of attempted murder when he shot at the four teens in the car +1 count of shooting deadly missile.

Hung jury for the murder count

    • Liza says:

If self-defense has prevailed and everyone either agrees or has been worn down, then there is no logical reason to hang on any count. It would be acquittal on all five.

That assumes, of course, that these people think logically.

I’m still putting my faith in the black women. If this jury can’t agree, the best possible outcome is to hang on count one and let the state try again. They WILL do better next time.

  8. Someone is standing their ground in that jury room for Jordan. This mofo will not walk!

  9. Ametia says:

So one more free meal and it’s a wrap, eh?

  10. DUKE says:

look my last comment wont get posted. guess they don’t want to hear what blacks should really do.

  11. Yahtc says:

  12. DUKE says:

if this man get away than we need to start street justice we are all thugs when they kill one of us.

  13. Yahtc says:

  14. HLNtv is saying they could have found him “not guilty” on 4 counts but found him guilty of shooting into a car. But I’m not buying it. No way!

    Your thoughts, 3Chics?

    • Ametia says:

STAY AWAY FROM HLN! SG2, that station is biased and full of chicanery

    • Liza says:

SG2, that statement from HLN is kind of laughable now that I think about it. If the jury acquits on count one it is logical they would acquit on counts two, three and four because they are interrelated and it means they believe Dunn acted in self defense. Why would they find him guilty of count five if he had to shoot into the SUV to defend himself?

Great legal analysis on HLN, huh?

  15. Yahtc says:

    Michael Skolnik ‏@MichaelSkolnik 5m

Dunn would still get sentenced for any of the verdicts that come back even if one of them was deadlocked. #DunnTrial

  16. Breaking: Jurors have another question.

Can we take a 30 minute break?

Is it possible to not reach a verdict on one count and reach a verdict on other counts?

  17. Yahtc says:

    Jury has question—LIVE

  20. Liza says:

Well, it’s after 3:00 PM in Florida now.

Here’s something interesting, perhaps hopeful. I looked up information about Shawna Forde’s murder conviction. Remember her? She’s the border vigilante who murdered Raul Flores and his nine year old daughter Brisenia in a home invasion. The jury deliberated for seven hours over two days.

The reason I find that interesting is that Shawna was tried in Pima County, Arizona, in February of 2011 shortly after the massacre in Tucson which is where Forde was tried. Folks here in Tucson were boiling over with rage. I would have thought that Forde would have been convicted in 30 minutes or time enough for the jurists to select a foreman and fill out the form.

    • Liza says:

Okay, at the risk of sounding like I’ve gone off the deep end, I looked up Charles Manson’s case. Jury deliberations took nine days.

      • Ametia says:

Naw, Liza, you’re more than SANE. It’s the mindset of the folks involved with these trials.

      • Liza says:

I just wish I knew how the jury is split, what we’re really talking about here. I feel confident that Dunn won’t walk away from this, but it’s a damn shame if there is even one person among the twelve who would stand to let this man go back into society. He attempted a massacre, killed one child, and thinks he can evade justice by lying his a$$ off. I wonder how long that piece of garbage has been fantasizing about killing someone before he actually did it.

  21. I will NOT be surprised if this killer walks free. These murders will continue as long as racists politicians and racists religious leaders ( on the right ) continue to be quiet as their de facto leader Rush Limburgh and his cohorts at Fox spew their race hate daily. Limburgh is the MOST DANGEROUS man in America since he hides behind the First Amendment and his micophone as he incites violence and race hate among his not- too – intelligent followers. Sadly, many so- called Christians and dumb politicians are no different.

  22. Sunny Hostin ‏reported on HLNtv that someone in the courtroom heard loud talking in the jury room yesterday.

    Loud talking? Was it arguing?

  23. GrannyStandingforTruth says:

Just woke up to see if they’re close to a verdict. I see the jury is still enjoying the fringe benefits and perks, so I am going back to sleep for a couple of hours…tired.

  24. Ametia says:

And memo to Strolla and crew: If Michael Dunn hadn’t shot and murdered Jordan Davis, there would be NO NEED for a trial or verdict rendered and not because of the George Zimmerman trial and its noteriety.

See how that works? You shoot and kill a human beging, you stand trial. PERIOD.

  25. Ametia says:

Who knows, after this trial is over, CNN will get one of their puppets to do a One-One with child killer Michael Dunn, just like they’re planning to air George Zimmerman next week with Chris Cumo!

See how the media perpetuates and ELEVATES these killers to celebrity status?

  26. Ametia says:

My thing is, if there are racists jurors, and you and I both know their are, how are you going to erase predjudice from someone who has it in their DNA over a 3 day period, if ever?

    Please tell me how?

    • Yahtc says:

      :(

      Can’t

    • Liza says:

If a jurist walked into the deliberation room a racist, he/she will walk out the same way. All we can hope for in this jury and all juries is that intelligent, fairminded, and courageous jurists prevail over those who are not intelligent enough to understand the evidence and/or bring their own bigotry and prejudice into the deliberations.

    • Ametia says:

Here we are in the 21st century having to shovel through this shit. I want my grandson to feel and know that he can move and have his being anywhere on this planet, without thought of being gunned down, simply because he’s black. PERIOD.

    • Liza says:

When my grandnephew, who is biracial, was born in 1998 I remember thinking that things would be so much better by the time he came of age. Now he will be 16 in a few months and lives on the west side of Jax, across town from where Jordan Davis was murdered.
And the Michael Dunns are still out there, empowered by SYG, ready to kill a kid like my nephew if he were to disrespect whiteness in any way, no matter how trivial. My sweet, kind, handsome nephew who has never harmed a fly and has an incredible life ahead of him if only the Michael Dunns of this world do not somehow cross his path.

It is unbelievable to me we are here in 2014 and doing this. Just unbelievable.

  27. Ametia says:

It’s hard out there for the jury of PREDOMINATELY white married men to accept the plain TRUTH that Michael Dunn shot and killed Jordan in cold blood, because he hates black people.

    • Ametia, there is solid evidence. It shouldn’t take this freaking long to convict, Michael Dunn. I am getting furious with this jury.

      • Ametia says:

Basically Dunn’s testimony called everyone involved LIARS, and he LIED in his attempts to paint that picture of his self defense claim. My 2 year old grandson can call a spade a spade. This is ridiculous!

    • Liza says:

The thought that troubled me last night is that if a jurist believes anything that Michael Dunn has said, then he/she does not believe those three kids who were with Jordan Davis. But it’s hard to imagine how they could find the physical evidence less than irrefutable. I think that might be what is going on, that the more enlightened shall we say are explaining the physical evidence to the less enlightened.

      • Yahtc says:

I think that might be what is going on, that the more enlightened shall we say are explaining the physical evidence to the less enlightened.

        I agree with you, Liza.

      • Ametia says:

THIS: “But it’s hard to imagine how they could find the physical evidence less than irrefutable.”

Liza, the truth is the “physical evidence” that some on the jury can’t get past is that the four young boys involved are “BLACK.”

      • Liza, I hope you’re right.

      • Liza says:

Ametia, I agree, but whoever the problem is on this jury would never admit it.

I think we can rule out Dunn walking away like Zimmerman did. The worst case right now seems to be a hung jury. If that happens, Dunn gets a new trial. So be it.

      • Ametia says:

So be it, if hung jury. In these shooting cases, the Florida courts need to quit stacking their juries with predominately white married males.

      • Yahtc says:

Sending out sparkles of truth, justice, honor, integrity, common sense, and wisdom to fill the atmosphere while the jury deliberates.

        http://www.netanimations.net/Moving-picture-colorful-twinkling-sparkling-stars-animated-gif.gif

      • Liza says:

I was relieved when we found out that two black women were among the twelve jurists. It was disappointing, however, that another black woman and the Asian female doctor with two sons were alternates. I really wanted all three black women and the doctor among the twelve.

I’ve always been nervous about the white folks. There are too many of them on this jury. And there are no black men which I said from day one is a problem.

      • Ametia says:

Not having a BLACK man on the jury is RACIST. Period. And the fact that they have predominately white men says it all. They want them to be the DECIDER of Dunn’s fate. Either way, guilty, not guilty, the majority gets to call the shots. Can’t have all those POC convicting a white man of first degree murder of a black child!

      • Liza says:

They know that ANY black man in America could empathize with another black man. They know that. I’m just thankful for the black women who are there and the fact that there are two and not just one.

The population of Duval County is almost 40 percent black. There should have been at least five black people on the jury, in my opinion.
