Breaking News Alert: President of ABC News resigning September 6, 2010 9:37:8 PM
—————————————-
David Westin, the longest serving network news chief, announced Monday night that he is resigning as president of ABC News after a tough year that included anchor changes on every broadcast and cutting a quarter of the staff.

What?
I know. Wondering if he fought to keep that grifter Bristol Palin off DWST, and that was the last straw… ABC going to hell in a handbasket anyway. All the networks are. Tee vee has become a wasteland.
Maybe the reasons for his resignation will leak out later?
PETRAEUS WARNS OF

General: Florida Church’s 9/11 Plans ‘Could Endanger Troops’ In Afghanistan
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/06/general-david-petraeus-co_n_706718.html
General David Petraeus has condemned a Florida church’s plans to burn Qurans this week, warning that the scene “could endanger troops” in Afghanistan.
Petraeus told The Wall Street Journal Monday that Pastor Terry Jones’ September 11 stunt could ignite violence from Taliban forces already versed in harnessing American headlines as propaganda:
“It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort,” Gen. Petraeus said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community.”
You’d think these mofos would have some common sense & decency. The astounding ignorance of these hateful bishes. Do they even care what risk they’re creating for our troops?
WTF, JUST WTF!!!
What these stoopid people don’t realize is free speech has consequences. This kind of demonstration of hate could mean problems for Americans everywhere. They’re so blinded by hate until they can’t see past their fk nose.
Parents use ‘digital’ grounding as a 21st century disciplinary tool
By Donna St. George
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, September 5, 2010; 10:23 PM
Not so long ago, teenagers in trouble got grounded. They lost their evenings out, maybe the keys to the family car. But lately the art of family discipline has begun to reflect our digital age.
Now parents seize cellphones, shut down Facebook pages, pull the plug on PlayStation.
That’s how it went in Silver Spring last school year, when Iantha Carley’s high-schooler got a midterm grade report that contained letters of the alphabet that were not A, B or C.
Carley decreed there would be no more Facebook until he delivered a report card with better grades. The result: six weeks offline. “He lived,” Carley reports, “with no lasting damage.”
Her approach has become increasingly common as technology has changed so much about growing up, including what teenagers value most. For the digital generation, the priority isn’t always going out with friends. It’s being with them – in text, online.

‘You Lie’ Joe Wilson Faces Wider Ethics Probe Into Travel Expenses
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/06/joe-wilson-gop-congressma_n_706522.html#comments
The congressional ethics investigation into U.S. Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina is broader than previously disclosed, investigating beyond the use of government issued expenses that he used to buy six decorative goblets in Afghanistan last year.
Ethics investigators are also reportedly looking into Rep Wilson’s foreign trips as a whole. Since he joined congress, Wilson’s overseas travel has cost taxpayers about $100,000 in itemized expenses.
McClatchy reports:
That total puts Wilson at No. 29 among the 435 members of the House — and at No. 39 among 730 members who’ve served since 1994, according to data published in the Congressional Record, the official proceedings of the House and Senate and analyzed by Congressional Quarterly.
Because most of Wilson’s trips have been to visit U.S. troops around the world, they’ve entailed significant additional costs beyond the $100,000 — including large sums of non-itemized, taxpayer-covered funds to pay for U.S. Air Force planes used to transport him and other lawmakers.

The Rethugs have done everything they can do to stop the creation of jobs for their own political gain. Then they blame the POTUS for not creating jobs, sell the electorate a wolf ticket that the POTUS can’t do it and didn’t expect the POTUS to come back after them. Well, this black cat backed up against the wall is hissing, hawing and scratching back. Okay, the post Labor Day campaign is ‘on and poppin’.

Economic hardship drives some to explore their long-lost dreams
By Steve Hendrix
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, September 6, 2010
At an audition last week at the Kennedy Center, Philip Ruxton felt as if he must have been the only nervous person in a waiting room full of seasoned pros. He paced the floor, focused on his breathing and, finally, with two minutes left before his turn, went over his music one last time before handing it to the pianist who would accompany him. That’s when he discovered the entire last page of his song was missing.
“Uh-oh,” he thought. “This is not good.”
Unlike the others waiting to try out for the chorus of the Kennedy Center’s coming production of “Follies,” Ruxton is brand new to all this. A year ago, the 45-year-old commercial real estate broker’s last theatrical experience had been in high school drama class. But like many struggling with the recession this Labor Day, Ruxton has found the time and incentive to explore his dream, a passion he’d stored in the back of his mind for decades.

Mideast Leaders Hopeful After Opening of TalksBy ETHAN BRONNER
Published: September 5, 2010
JERUSALEM — Palestinian and Israeli leaders expressed satisfaction and hope on Sunday in their first public utterances after the opening round of Middle East peace talks in Washington last week.
“The structure that has been agreed to is a good one,” the chief Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, said in a telephone interview. Mr. Erekat, who has accused the Israelis of bad faith in the past, said the two sides had agreed to build a framework within a year for a comprehensive deal. “We have started a process and have every hope that it will succeed. This is the time for decisions.”

I’d really like to explore this article more. It rings of so much TRUTH. Why waste our good years working for others and helping them achieve their dreams?
Jobs data continues to lift global equities
By Jeremy Gaunt, European Investment Correspondent
Mon Sep 6, 2010 7:20am EDT
LONDON (Reuters) – Encouraging news about the U.S. employment picture continued to spill over onto financial markets on Monday, lifting world stocks on hopes that a slip back into recession could be avoided.
The mood continued despite a relatively gloomy outlook from Olivier Blanchard, chief economist at the International Monetary Fund, who told France’s Le Figaro he expected weak growth in both the United States and Europe.
Some investors, particularly in Asia, were catching up with Friday’s U.S. jobs data, which was not as bad as some had feared.
The slowing of the U.S. economy has been one of the major factors holding investors back over recent months.
MSCI’s all-country world stock index .MIWD00000PUS and its Thomson Reuters counterpart .TRXFLDGLPU were up more than 0.4 percent after a nearly 3.7 percent gains for the MSCI last week.

Angle latest target in 2010 lawsuitpalooza
http://www.politico.com/blogs/joshgerstein/0910/Angle_latest_target_in_2010_election_lawsuitpalooza.html
A Nevada newspaper’s highly unusual copyright lawsuit against senate candidate Sharron Angle is the the latest salvo in what is shaping up to be a highly litigious 2010 campaign.
On Friday, a company acting on behalf of the Las Vegas Review-Journal filed a federal lawsuit against Angle, charging that the former Nevada legislator posted the entirety of one of the newspaper’s editorials and one of its articles on her campaign website without any permission to do so. The suit seeks $150,000 in damages and control of Angel’s site, SharronAngle.com. (AP said the suit seeks “unspecified damages,” but the Las Vegas Sun spotted the $150,000 demand on a cover page.)
A liar and a thief, yep, that’s Sharon’s “ANGLE”

Kanye: I ‘bled’ over Swift incident
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5hHVrBCkzlNCzhfyqIowNxa5cQrsA
Kanye West is still feeling the pain over his ambush of Taylor Swift last year – and he’s expressing it all over Twitter.
The hip-hop star unleashed a torrent of emotions on his official Twitter account at the weekend, acknowledging once again that he was wrong for jumping on stage, grabbing the microphone from Taylor at the MTV Video Music Awards and saying her trophy should have gone to Beyonce.
The rapper-producer said that he had experienced enormous pain, been the subject of death threats and suffered a tremendous setback to his career.
“How deep is the scar … I bled hard … cancelled tour with the number one pop star in the world … closed the doors of my clothing office,” he tweeted.
Never any doubt Kanye would reap what he sowed from this incident.
You don’t walk on stage at a live broadcast at an MTV awards show, take the microphone from lil Taylor Swift, and announce to the live audience and the tv viewing audience that Beyonce should have won the award instead.
Now if Kanye had commited this crime against Brandy or Rihanna he wouldn’t be hollering about ‘bleeding.” OK, maybe Rihanna. Jay Z might’ve given him a beatdown.. LOL Basically, the Taylor Swift+Kanye incident = you messed with the white girl.
Yes, Kanye, you were wrong, dead wrong for doing it, and while you’ve apologized, the damage had been done. Your handlers if you have any, need to help you put down the Chevas, or Cristal.
It’s all your Karma coming to collect
I concur. I knew Kayne would feel the bite in the a$$ from what he did.
U.S. Launches New Website To Help Unemployed Find Work
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/05/department-of-labor-launches-my-skills-my-future_n_706328.html
For most Americans, Labor Day is a welcome holiday off work. Yet for others, it is just another day without work, following months without a steady source of income.
Almost 10 percent of Americans are facing unemployment, unable to support themselves and their families.
In response to the ongoing unemployment crisis, the U.S. Department of Labor is commemorating Labor Day 2010 by launching a new website to help out-of-work Americans find new opportunities.
Entitled My Skills My Future, the website provides tools for potential workers to search for jobs by entering in their previous work experience. An instructional video featured on the My Skills My Future homepage explains how to use the database to search for employment opportunities and local job training seminars.
Obama Wants To Make R&D Tax Credits Permanent
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/05/obama-tax-credits-research-development_n_706226.html
WASHINGTON — Seeking ways to spur economic growth ahead of the November elections, President Barack Obama will ask Congress to increase and permanently extend research and development tax credits for businesses, a White House official said Sunday.
Obama will outline the $100 billion proposal during a speech on the economy Wednesday in Cleveland, the official said. The announcement is expected to be the first in a series of new measures Obama will propose this fall as the administration looks to jump-start an economy that the president himself has said isn’t growing fast enough.
In addition to making the research credits permanent, Obama will also ask Congress to extend one of the credit options available to businesses from 14 to 17 percent, according to the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the proposal has not been formally announced.
Obama has proposed making the research and development tax credit permanent before, as part of the budget he submitted to Congress earlier this year.
