  1. Karen Hunter on the Ed Show

What the media did with Terry Jones was akin to going into the hood & interviewing the most ignorant toothless person they could find and sticking a mic in front of them when there’s a brother on the corner in a suit. Hunter said Terry Jones was an example of this.

      • Karen was dead on it about the media. I’m so happy she let Ed know Terry Jones is an uneducated ignorant mofo.

These cable airbags are reading our blogs. You know they are.

How you gonna speak on the issues that affect every ethnic group, yet have lilly white folks sitting around shooting the breeze like they they’re fthe fucking experts. We need diversity in the media and diverse viewpoints?

Karn broke it down for the CaCs!

      • I’ve been put out with Ed since the healthcare debate last summer with him screaming the President is “losing his base”. He’s a damn liar. The base isn’t who his loud mouth thinks it is. So glad Daily Kos got schooled on that fact too.

  3. Um, BillO? That word ‘racist’? I do not think it means what you think it means

    http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/um-billo-word-racist-i-do-not-think-#comments

Bill O’Reilly wanted to badger someone from the NAACP over their plan to monitor the Tea Party movement’s racism with a website devoted to tracking Tea Party events. (He had already denounced the website last week.)

So he brought on the NAACP’s Hilary Shelton, who did a reasonable job of holding up — aside from a horrendous stumble when it appeared the only example of Tea Party racism he can name is a single T-shirt (Lord knows there’s a wealth of examples to choose from, ranging from “witch doctor” signs to spitting episodes to Mark Williams columns). Eventually, Shelton got it right, explaining he was providing only one example out of a large body of them, but by then it was too late.

So then O’Reilly decided to play “gotcha!” by bringing in Fox’s favorite whipping boy, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and pointing out that Wright had spoken at NAACP functions. O’Reilly then pounced and claimed that Wright was a racist — based on his belief that the federal government had created the HIV virus as a way to harm black men. This, BillO claimed, was “hate speech.”

Eh? Yes, it’s a cockamamie conspiracy theory that makes pretty clear that Wright’s judgment is questionable at best. But racist?

We already know that O’Reilly doesn’t know the difference between hate speech and hateful speech. And we know he’s not exactly the most sensitive guy in the world on racial matters.

Stewart teaches MSNBC to selectively edit clips like Fox News
    By David

MSNBC could learn a thing or two from Fox News.

Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart noted Thursday that the left leaning network was moderating their praise for President Barack Obama. On the other hand, Fox News hasn’t held back with their criticism and selectively edited clipshttp://crooksandliars.com/

On eve of Sept. 11, Obama struggles to balance messages of war, tolerance
    By Scott Wilson
    Friday, September 10, 2010; 1:49 PM
As President Obama marks nine years since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, he is attempting to harness the event’s potent legacy to rally support for the war in Afghanistan while urging religious tolerance as anti-Muslim sentiment in the country rises.
Striking a balance between those messages is among Obama’s central challenges as he works to move the country toward what might be called a post-post-9/11 phase, a nation where Islam is accepted without fear and America’s wars in Muslim countries are brought to a close.
Toward that end he has concluded U.S. combat operations in Iraq and set a deadline to begin withdrawing from Afghanistan. He has preached tolerance toward Islam, at some political risk to himself, and asked Muslims abroad for a “new beginning.” He abolished some of the most controversial post-9/11 national security policies.
But working against those efforts is Obama’s own political need to keep reminding the nation that al-Qaeda carried out the attacks in order to justify his escalation of the Afghan war, which only a minority of Americans believe is worth fighting. As a Democrat who never served in uniform and spent some childhood years in a Muslim nation, Obama is also hindered in speaking about 9/11 by his own biography, raising suspicions among an increasingly anti-Islamic public whenever he tries to promote tolerance.

  6. Steele: Republicans Are Wasting Time Attacking Me Instead Of Focusing On Elections

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/10/steele-republicans-are-wa_n_712369.html

For more than a year, critics within the GOP tent have dogged RNC Chairman Michael Steele for gaudy expenditures and head-scratching rhetoric that they say have distracted from the greater cause of getting Republican elected. On Friday, Steele fired back, resorting to a third person defense, and accusing his critics of wasting time and resources sniping at him rather then electing Republicans.

“You know, if all my critics spent less time worrying about what Michael Steele is doing and more time worrying about how they’re going to help Republicans win in November, I think we’d be well down the road to securing and guaranteeing — your word — you know, control of the House and the Senate this coming November,” Steele said

Is Steele talking back to the massa? Watch yourself, Steele. Otherwise you might hear the crack of that whip?
    LMBO!

    • Ametia says:

uh, uh, uh, Steele is trying to remain relevant in the Party of Elephants. The GOP will drop his ass like a hot poker iron, once they no longer need him. He’s still around because they haven’t finished using him… Wait, his days are numbered.

SHARON ANGLE: NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME OR ANY OTHER TIME

Sharron Angle cancels debate, infuriates reporter
Sharron Angle’s last-minute decision to pull out of a planned debate has angered long-time Nevada political journalist Jon Ralston.

“Earlier today, Sharron Angle’s campaign agreed to accept our invitation to debate Harry Reid on ‘Face to Face’ in an hour-long live broadcast from Reno on October 21st. Within hours of Reid accepting, Angle’s campaign called to say, well, it’s backing out now,” Ralston said on the local news show “Face to Face” Thursday. He then played a clip of Angle saying she would like to have a debate on the show with Reid.

“I thought I had seen it all in this campaign. I guess not,” Ralson continued. “I had agreement from Angle’s deputy campaign manager for this debate, but soon after we announced Reid had agreed to the date and place, her campaign spokesman called to say there was no agreement. I’m not making this up, folks. A campaign spokesman overrules a deputy campaign manager? I really don’t understand the hierarchy in that campaign.”

The Angle campaign subsequently sent out a press release saying there would be a debate — at a local high school. Ralston responded on Twitter, “But Reid won’t even be there. He already taped Q and A at skl. #lame #amateurhour.”

Later he added, “Remember “Scanners” where people’s heads exploded. That’s how I feel right now. This is a Senate race, not a competition for h.s. president.” He added this morning that he is “Still stunned. She is on tape!”

Ralston interviewed Angle on “Face to Face in June.

Breaking News Alert: Living soldier to be awarded Medal of Honor September 10, 2010 10:31:40 AM
    —————————————-

President Obama will award the Medal of Honor to a living soldier for his heroism in Afghanistan in 2007, marking the first time since the Vietnam War that a service member has earned the nation’s highest award for valor on the battlefield that didn’t result in his death.

Obama spoke with Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta on Thursday to inform him that he had earned the honor and thank him for his “extraordinary bravery in battle,” the White House said in a prepared statement.

    Corruption fighting, Afghanistan style

    By Eugene Robinson
    Friday, September 10, 2010

Just how corrupt is the U.S.-backed government in Afghanistan? It should be clear by now that President Hamid Karzai doesn’t want us to know. He’d prefer that we just keep sending our troops and our dollars, and not ask too many questions.

Karzai’s government announced this week that American and allied advisers, dispatched to Kabul to help investigate massive and endemic graft, will no longer be allowed to do any actual investigating. Karzai’s chief of staff told The Post that the government is still determined to eliminate corruption, but intends to do so “within an Afghan framework.”

And what a framework it is. Karzai is evidently upset that foreign advisers helped build a case against one of his high-ranking aides, Mohammad Zia Salehi, who is charged with soliciting a bribe — $10,000 plus a new car — from a money-exchange firm. In return, according to the charges, Salehi was supposed to derail an investigation into allegations that the company, called New Ansari, had illegally shipped $3 billion in cash out of the country. Most of the funds ended up in Dubai, where many of the wealthy Afghan elite have settled.

San Bruno Fire: At Least One Dead, Dozens Of Homes Destroyed After Explosion In San Francisco Suburb

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/10/san-bruno-fire-location-explosion_n_711668.html

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — A massive explosion sent flames roaring through a neighborhood in the hills south of San Francisco Thursday, destroying more than 50 homes and leaving at least one person dead.

The utility company that serves the San Francisco Bay area said one of its gas lines ruptured in the vicinity of the blast, which left a giant crater and sent flames tearing across several suburban blocks in San Bruno just after 6 p.m.

“If it is ultimately determined that we were responsible for the cause of the incident, we will take accountability,” Pacific Gas and Electric Co. said in an e-mailed statement.

Flames hot enough to crack a fire engine windshield incinerated 53 homes and damaged 120 as crews continued battling the blaze into the night. At least one person was confirmed dead in the blast, San Bruno Fire Chief Dennis Haag said.

The fire had spread to 10 acres and was 50 percent contained late Thursday, said Jay Allen, spokesman for the California Emergency Management Agency.

This is so horrible. I pray for God’s mercy for the victims, their familes, first responders & all.
