Is Newt Gingrich just pretending to have lost his mind, or has he actually gone around the bend?
His lunacy certainly seems genuine enough. It’s one thing to be a rhetorical bomb-thrower, as Gingrich has long fancied himself, and another to lob damp squibs of pure nonsense into the fray. The man’s contributions to the public discourse have become increasingly unhinged.
The latest example comes in an interview with the conservative Web site National Review Online. Unsurprisingly, he was criticizing President Obama. Bizarrely, according to the Web site, he said the following: “What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]?” According to Newt, this is “the most accurate, predictive model” for the president’s actions, or policies or something

Plouffe slams Gingrich’s line of attack

(CNN) – The architect of President Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign Monday sharply criticized remarks made by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich over the weekend that President Obama follows a “Kenyan, anti-colonial” worldview.
“Two words that come to mind are ‘sad’ and ‘reprehensible,'” David Plouffe told CNN’s John King on John King USA.
“It makes me think . he’s probably pretty sure he’s going to run for president,” Plouffe added, suggesting Gingrich may have been trying to appease the most conservative elements of the Republican Party.
Gingrich has recently made a number of trips to earlier primary states, fueling speculation that a 2012 bid for the Republican presidential nomination is on his mind.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was “trying to appeal to the fringe” in his weekend statement that President Obama displayed “Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior” and conned the American people.
Gingrich, who is mulling a 2012 GOP presidential bid, talked about the influence of Kenya on Obama’s worldview in a story posted Saturday in the National Review Online.

For those too young to remember, the anti-colonial uprisings in Kenya in the 1950s were incredibly violent with the brutal slaughter of whites by the Mau Mau.
While this dog whistle would be lost on younger people, for people my age — the typical age of the Fox News viewer — this is clearly an attempt to paint Obama as some anti-white terrorist who wants to murder you in your sleep.
