WASHINGTON — Virginia Thomas, the wife of Associate Justice Clarence Thomas of the Supreme Court, left a message last weekend on the voice mail of Anita Hill, who accused her husband of sexual harassment during his confirmation hearings, a spokeswoman for Ms. Thomas confirmed on Tuesday.
In a message left at the office of Ms. Hill, who is now a professor at Brandeis University, Ms. Thomas apparently brought up Ms. Hill’s accusations against her husband during the 1991 hearings.
The full voicemail: “Good morning, Anita Hill, it’s Ginni Thomas,” she said, according to ABC. “I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and the years and ask you to consider something. Okay have a good day.” (Have a good day? the tone of this statement alone begs indignation and anger) She really wants Anita Hill to get angry and choke-a-bitch doesn’t she? That was the whole point. She wanted to cause controversy citing the angry black woman was mean to her.
Hill, however, did indeed seem to take offense, telling ABC: “Even if it wasn’t a prank, it was in no way conciliatory for her to begin with the presumption that I did something wrong in 1991. I simply testified to the truth of my experience. For her to say otherwise is not extending an olive branch, it’s accusatory. (Reliving this painful experience again, had to be excruciating for Anita Hill.) Evil knows no bounds….. The Thomas’ are without shame!
I don’t apologize. I have no intention of apologizing and I stand by my testimony in 1991.”
Andrew Gully, senior vice president of the Brandeis University Communications office, told the Times that Hill had turned the message over to the campus Department of Public Safety Monday – and that office, in turn, passed it to the FBI.
In response to questions about the call relayed through a publicist, Ms. Thomas confirmed that she had left a message on Ms. Hill’s voice mail.
“I did place a call to Ms. Hill at her office extending an olive branch to her after all these years, in hopes that we could ultimately get past what happened so long ago,” Ms. Thomas said in a statement provided to The New York Times. (It is YOU, Ginny Thomas that hasn’t gotten over your negro husband lusting after a Black woman.)
“That offer still stands,” her statement went on. “I would be very happy to meet and talk with her if she would be willing to do the same. Certainly no offense was ever intended.” ( LIAR! In the wake of news that Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, recently contacted Anita Hill, the woman behind a sexual harassment scandal that almost derailed the Justice during his confirmation hearings, Thomas’s ex-girlfriend is now seeking to enter the fray with serious new allegations about his demeanor in the years before the Hill controversy. In an interview with the Washington Post, Lillian McEwen says Hill’s allegations fit a pattern:
“He was always actively watching the women he worked with to see if they could be potential partners,” McEwen told the Post, adding that he was particularly “partial to women with large breasts” and even would ask woman about their bra size.
“He was obsessed with porn,” McEwen also said of Thomas, a claim that is particularly relevant to Hill’s allegations that the then-chairman of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission had repeatedly relayed scenes from pornographic movies to her. “He would talk about what he had seen in magazines and films, if there was something worth noting,” McEwen continued.
As for why McEwen has decided to break her silence now, the Post explains that the woman who partook in Thomas’s “freewheeling sex life” between 1981 and 1986 has a story to tell.

Reports that two Supreme Court Justices have attended seminars sponsored by the energy giant and conservative bankroller Koch Industries has sparked a mild debate over judicial ethics.
On Tuesday evening, the New York Times reported that an upcoming meeting in Palm Springs of “a secretive network of Republican donors” that was being organized by Koch Industries, “the longtime underwriter of libertarian causes.” Buried in the third to last graph was a note that previous guests at such meetings included Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, two of the more conservative members of the bench.
It’s not rare for a Justice to attend a seminar sponsored by a group with judicial or political interests. Members of the court, for instances, often speak at academic institutions or think tanks. Virtually all companies, meanwhile, are affected by the judicial branch. So long as Scalia and Thomas did not participate in overt partisan activities, there would be no apparent conflict of interest.
“There is nothing to prevent Supreme Court justices from hanging out with people who have political philosophies,” said Steven Lubet, a professor of law at Northwestern University who teaches courses on Legal Ethics.
But the Koch event appears more political than, say, the Aspen Ideas festival. This was a strange series of events. Mrs. Thomas asks for an apology in her message ( one that has been aired for all to hear). . . ok . . . . So what does Anita Hill do? She calls the Brandeis University Police. That should tell you about the mental stability of Professor Hill. Amazingly the Brandeis University Police call the FBI. . . . Are you kidding me?
I do not believe that the viewing public respected Anita Hill during the Thomas confirmation hearings, nor do they respect her now. Her present actions surely lower my low opinion of her.
