The Soweto Gospel Choir was formed in Soweto, South Africa by David Mulovhedzi (†) and Beverly Bryer, two choir directors. The 30+ member ensemble blends elements of African gospel, Negro spirituals, reggae, and American popular music. The group performed at the first of the 46664 concerts for Nelson Mandela, and has since toured internationally several times.

Their albums Blessed and African Spirit won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional World Music Album in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

On 7 July 2007 they performed at South African leg of Live Earth. Also in 2007, they joined Robert Plant in contributing to Goin’ Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino (Vanguard), performing their version of Domino’s “Valley of Tears“.

At the 81st Academy Awards in 2009, the group backed up John Legend with the song Down To Earth, a song from WALL-E nominated for “Best Song” that year.

More recently, the group performed at the 2010 FIFA World Cup final draw on 4 December 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa[1].

  2. Pawlenty calls for Holder resignation

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1110/Pawlenty_calls_for_Holder_resignation.html

On the Hugh Hewitt radio show, Minnesota governor and possible presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty called for Attorney General Eric Holder’s resignation over the Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani terror trial:

Hewitt : Okay, and should Eric Holder resign?

Pawlenty: You know, I think Eric Holder and the Justice Department made a fundamental mistake, and they put the country, almost put the country at risk, and may still have done it if they continue down this path. And I don’t think you can just stay in that position and have those kinds of outcomes.

    Hewitt : That’s a yes.

    Pawlenty: Yes.

Tim Pawlenty, go straight to hell!

New YORK — The audience at Thursday’s performance of “Fela!” on Broadway got an extra thrill when an unannounced guest arrived – the first lady.

Michelle Obama and six girlfriends stunned theatergoers when she arrived at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on 49th Street to catch the Tony Award-winning musical about Fela Kuti, the Afrobeat artist and Nigerian political activist.

“When the audience realized that she was in the audience, they just went nuts,” said Stephen Hendel, who co-conceived and produced the show. “People started standing up and applauding, saying ‘We love you!’ and ‘We love you, Michelle!’ It took a minute or so to get the audience to settle down.”

The musical features dancers mingling with the audience and the first lady’s group was seated along Row G, where many of the dancers cross over. The Secret Service asked the dancers not to change their performance but to give Obama some extra space.

No matter what the haters think or say, People love our Flotus and it can’t be denied. She is very popular! Go Michelle!

The million-dollar question among Dancing with the Stars fans these days? How did Bristol Palin make it into the season 11 finals?

“She deserves it,” DWTS executive producer Conrad Green tells PEOPLE. “And a significant portion of our viewing audience believes that, too.”

Stop lying. Bristol Palin cannot dance. She doesn’t deserve sh*t. There is cheating going on.

LOL Just the teabagging, rethug, poor white trash audience, that wouldn’t know what real dancing is, if a salsa or tango kicked them in the ass.

      Bristol Palin+ ABC’s DWTS=Rating & profit! THE.PHUCKING.END.
