    Swindle of the year

    By Charles Krauthammer
    Friday, December 10, 2010
Barack Obama won the great tax-cut showdown of 2010 – and House Democrats don’t have a clue that he did. In the deal struck this week, the president negotiated the biggest stimulus in American history, larger than his $814 billion 2009 stimulus package. It will pump a trillion borrowed Chinese dollars into the U.S. economy over the next two years – which just happen to be the two years of the run-up to the next presidential election. This is a defeat?

Oprah Winfrey Releases A “Sneak Peak” At Her OWN New Network
    Mark Joyella | 12:17 pm, December 10th, 2010

So what will Oprah Winfrey’s OWN–set to launch January first–look like? The Oprah Winfrey Network released a sneak peak video today, and it contains a lot of familiar faces from Oprah’s long-running daytime TV show, including Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz.

The details are still mostly under wraps, with only tiny tidbits being hinted at in the 72-second teaser video. Oprah says “this is it,” and Sarah, Duchess of York says “it’s great… it’s exciting to be part of OWN.”

Oprah best friend forever Gayle King offers nothing more when she agrees that “we’ve got something really great on our hands.”

The video, posted on the OWN Blog, says only this:

  7. David Epstein Incest Charges: Columbia Professor Charged With Sleeping With Daughter

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/

A Columbia political science professor has been charged with having a sexual relationship with his 24-year-old daughter, the Columbia Daily Spectator reports.

David Epstein, 46, was charged Thursday with once count of third-degree incest. Police told the Spectator that the relationship appeared consensual.

Epstein is currently on administrative leave.

According to the New York Daily News, Epstein and the woman had a three-year sexual relationship and often exchanged “twisted text messages.”

The Spectator reports that Epstein is married to another Columbia political science professor, Sharyn O’Halloran, though a recent update to his Facebook page says he is single. The couple was featured in a 2008 Spectator article about professors who “bring love to work.”

“Our complementary skills lead to a great partnership,” O’Halloran told the Spectator.

One student described Epstein, who was teaching a class on game theory this semester, as a “very nice guy.” Outside of his professorial duties, Epstein also blogged for this website, on topics ranging from torture to Sarah Palin.

    Ewwwww

    I’m going to throw up…

  9. White House, Key Lawmakers Cut New Tax-Cut Deal, Clear Way For Final Bill

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/09/tax-cut-bill-white-house-passage_n_794798.html#comments

WASHINGTON — The White House and key lawmakers cleared the way Thursday night for swift Senate action to avert a Jan. 1 spike in income taxes for nearly all Americans, agreeing to extend breaks for ethanol and other forms of alternative energy as part of the deal.

Tax provisions aimed at increasing production of hybrid automobiles, biodiesel fuel, energy-efficient homes, coal and energy-efficient household appliances would be extended through the end of 2011 under the bill.

Debate on the expanded measure began almost immediately. While there is no precise timetable for passage, a test vote was set for Monday afternoon that appears likely to demonstrate overwhelmingly support for the legislation, which supporters say would help accelerate a sluggish recovery from recession.

The events unfolded as the White House predicted that the agreement between President Barack Obama and top Republicans would clear by year’s end – even though House Democrats voted Thursday not to allow it to reach the floor without changes to scale back tax relief for the rich.

“If it’s take it or leave it, we’ll leave it,” said Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, after a closed-door meeting in which rank-and-file Democrats chanted, “Just say no.”

    • Ametia says:

The Dems are waiting for the 11th hour, say like Christmas eve. They want to appear like santa and drop a bag of goodies down the down trodden’s chimneys.

They’ll get it done, but not before they feel like they have some power and control over the decision. Pure posturing and grandstanding, the lackadasical, greedy, bums!

    Good Morning, All.

I was away from my computer for the evening, and didn’t see your question about dj.

NO, from the JJP end, djchefron has NOT been banned.

I told him so. told him to drop me an email.

I have to ask this…am I the only one who can’t post at JJP and W.E.E. See You?

instead of a large reply box, I get this thin line.

    • Morning, Rikyrah!

I’m glad because it worried me. DJ is like family. We don’t always agree on things (God) but I like him. He’s a good debater and good poster.

I posted a comment on JJP this morning but I replied from disqus. I’ll go log onto the site and see what happens.

    • Ametia says:

I knew instantly that he hadn’t been banned. the common courtesy of a warning is somehing I knew the mods at JJP would issue beforehand.

Good to hear DJ’s back at home.

    • I logged in and posted but something is not right. I was able to post but once you type your comment, it seems to disappear. I highlighted the area and realized the comment was still there…so I submitted.

  11. 3 New Orleans Police Convicted In Post-Katrina Killing, Burning Of Body

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/09/3-nopd-convicted-henry-glover_n_794782.html

NEW ORLEANS — A former New Orleans police officer was convicted Thursday of fatally shooting a man in Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath and another officer was convicted of burning the man’s body in a case that exposed one of the ugliest chapters in the police department’s troubled history.

A federal jury also convicted a third officer of writing a false report on the deadly shooting of 31-year-old Henry Glover, but two others were acquitted of charges stemming from the alleged cover-up.

The jury of five men and seven women convicted former officer David Warren of manslaughter in the shooting death of 31-year-old Henry Glover outside a strip mall on Sept. 2, 2005. Prosecutors said Warren shot an unarmed man in the back.

Officer Gregory McRae was convicted of burning Glover’s body in a car. Lt. Dwayne Scheuermann was acquitted of that charge. Both were cleared of charges they beat the men who had brought the dying Glover to a makeshift police compound in search of help.

Lt. Travis McCabe was convicted of writing a false report on the shooting and lying to the FBI and a grand jury. Lt. Robert Italiano was cleared of charges he submitted the false report and lied to the FBI.

“This was a case that needed to be aired,” U.S. District Judge Lance Africk said after the verdicts were read aloud.

Some of the officers hugged each other before they left the courtroom, while their relatives tried to console each other. Glover’s relatives sobbed as they embraced each other.

Rebecca Glover, Henry’s aunt, said the verdict doesn’t close the case for her.

“This has been a long, anguishing time,” she said. “All of them should have been found guilty. They were all in on it.”

They deserve death. Make them feel the same hurt their victim felt. An eye for an eye!
