Brooks & Dunn was an American country music duo consisting of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, who were both vocalists and songwriters. They were paired by record producer Scott Hendricks in 1991. Before the duo’s foundation, both members of the duo were solo recording artists. Brooks wrote songs for John Conlee, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Highway 101 and released a solo album for Capitol Records; both he and Dunn also charted two solo singles apiece in the 1980s.
The duo announced their retirement in August 2009 and performed their final concert on September 2, 2010, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Brooks has been the host of the radio show American Country Countdown since 2006, while Dunn will record a solo album for Arista.

White House widens search for Robert Gibbs successor
By GLENN THRUSH | 1/5/11 5:17 PM EST Updated: 1/5/11 6:41 PM EST
The White House is widening its search to replace outgoing press secretary Robert Gibbs beyond three in-house candidates to include a growing list of outsiders said to include former Democratic National Committee spokeswoman Karen Finney, according to Democrats familiar with the search.
In recent days, an informal West Wing selection team headed by Gibbs, communications director Dan Pfeiffer, senior adviser David Axelrod and incoming adviser David Plouffe, decided to move beyond the two high-profile administration spokesmen, Gibbs deputy Bill Burton and Joe Biden spokesman Jay Carney, originally considered to be the main candidates for the job, sources say.

Howard Dean: Tea Party ‘Has Trouble With Diversity
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/05/howard-dean-tea-party-diversity_n_804724.html#comments
Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Wednesday that the Tea Party’s rise to political potency has been driven by the movement’s older, white members who are both fearful of and resistant to growing diversity in the United States, a trend defined most visibly by the election of the first black president.
The Hotline reported on Dean’s comments, made Wednesday at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast with reporters:
“I think it’s the last gasp of the 55-year-old generation … a group of older folks who’ve seen their lives change dramatically,” he said. “The country is not the same … and all of a sudden it’s here for them and they don’t know what to do. … Every morning when they see the president they are reminded that things are totally different than they were when they were born and I think that has a lot to do with it.”
“Economic uncertainty fuels this but this is the last gasp of the generation that has trouble with diversity,” Dean added. “The tea party is almost entirely over 55 and white, and the country has changed dramatically as a result of what happened in 2008 and it’s not going back. Every day that goes on, the demographic change continues, and that’s what a lot of this is about.”
Dean has made a string of similar statements during the past year. He’s upset some conservatives, who say he’s implied that the Tea Party is motivated primarily by racism.
“People see that the country is being run by different people who are not like them,” Dean told Yale students last year of the rise of the Tea Party, before reiterating that racism was only prevalent in a small fringe of the movement.
Let’s call a spade a spade, Dean. It’s called RACISM, dude.
“The tea party is almost entirely over 55 and white, and the country has changed dramatically as a result of what happened in 2008 and it’s not going back.
You can bet your sweet bippy we’re not going back.
I love that clip of Donna. …aif i had time this afternoon I’d go home and I will cook for them… don’t let people tirp you, distract you, don’t let anyone take us back, we ain’t going back we’re going forward, and come with us…
Go head Donna!! Preach!!
“The country is not the same … and all of a sudden it’s here for them and they don’t know what to do. … Every morning when they see the president they are reminded that things are totally different than they were when they were born and I think that has a lot to do with it.”

Elizabeth Edwards’ Will Revealed

Inside Edition obtained an exclusive peek at the late Elizabeth Edwards’ will. Edwards reportedly signed the document on December 1, just 11 days before she died.
Her estranged husband, former presidential candidate John Edwards, was not mentioned in the will. Edwards named her oldest daughter, Catherine, as executor and left everything to her three children:
“All of my furniture, furnishings, household goods, jewelry, china, silverware and personal effects and any automobiles owned by me at the time of my death I give and bequeath to my children,” the will states.
didn’t expect Elizabeth to leave the cheater John anything. He’s go the Hunter lady, right.

Here it is: The filibuster reform package!
By Greg Sargent
Here’s a copy of the filibuster reform resolution that Senate Democrats will introduce later today, sent over by an aide to Tom Udall, one of the key Senators driving this campaign.
While the broad outlines of the proposal were already public, the details were being debated by Senators Udall, Jeff Merkley, Tom Harkin and Amy Klobuchar until as late as yesterday. The actual resolution is important, because it will serve as a jumping off point for the debate over reform that will unfold over the next couple of weeks.
Here’s a summary of the main items, also provided by a Udall aide:
Clear Path to Debate: Eliminate the Filibuster on Motions to Proceed
Makes motions to proceed not subject to a filibuster, but provides for two hours of debate. This proposal has had bipartisan support for decades and is often mentioned as a way to end the abuse of holds.
Eliminates Secret Holds
Prohibits one Senator from objecting on behalf of another, unless he or she discloses the name of the senator with the objection. This is a simple solution to address a longstanding problem.

What are your thoughts of Gibbs leaving the WH and working in the field?
I want Gibbs to stay. But if PBO thinks he’ll better used somewhere else, I’ll go with the Presidents judgment. Gibbs kept it real.
I think Robert Gibbs is just getting his second wind. He’s only 39, and has gotten a firm grasp of the media & the D.C. beltway gang. He’s needed in the field now. I agree. PBO knows what’s up. He trust Gibbs and I trust PBO.
Me too!
Keith Olberman & yee haw, Dean just threw Karen Finney’s name out as a potential replacement for Gibbs.

Pennsylvania Parents Sue Lower Merion School District For Wrongly Classifying Children As Special Needs Students
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/04/black-children-wrongfully_n_804411.html
More than three years ago, parents and students in suburban Philadelphia filed suit against their school district for classifying black children as special education students improperly. Finally, a trial for Blunt et al v. Lower Merion School District has been set.
In July 2007, eight black families filed a class action lawsuit in federal court and claimed the district had failed to provide a proper education to their children.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer:
The lawsuit was filed] on behalf of “all present and future African American students” in the district who, “because of defendants’ acts and omissions…are denied access to the general education curriculum; are placed in below-grade-level classes; receive a modified curriculum; and/or are sent to separate, segregated schools which provides them with an education inferior to that provided their Caucasian peers.
“A judge ruled in 2009 that each student’s case was too individualized to be filed as a class-action suit. And when Concerned Black Parents Inc. and the NAACP Main Line Branch joined the plaintiffs’ efforts, he argued the groups lacked legal standing to join the suit.
good, sue the mofos, and bet your sweet ass that this school isn’t the first and certainly isn’t the last school that commits these heinous acts against our children.

Lawrence O’Donnell Makes GOP Rep Wish He Read Constitution Before The Show
by Matt Schneider | 10:42 am, January 5th, 2011
On MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, Republican Congressman Bob Goodlatte showed up to proudly boast of his plan to lead a reading of the Constitution on the floor of the House of Representatives. O’Donnell, however, wasn’t as eager to congratulate Goodlatte on the idea as he was to establish that in the past Goodlatte wasn’t too concerned with basing his legislative proposals on specific constitutional authority.
O’Donnell really revved up after learning that Goodlatte’s favorite Supreme Court Justice is Antonin Scalia, even despite Scalia being part of a majority opinion striking down Goodlatte’s law to restrict First Amendment rights on the Internet. Citing Goodlatte’s past vote for an increase in the minimum wage, O’Donnell wondered whether the minimum wage was constitutional? Goodlatte’s dumbfounded response: “I have not looked at the constitutionality of that issue.”
The exchange got even more uncomfortable with O’Donnell angrily wondering:
O’Donnell: “You voted for an increase in something that you don’t even know has constitutional authority to exist?”
Goodlatte: “That’s correct and that’s why it’s good to reinstate this focus on the Constitution as we debate these bills. In the future a minimum wage bill will have to have in it a declaration of the section of the Constitution that gives the authority to increase the minimum wage.”

Michele Bachmann To Defeat Obama, Be First Female, Banshee President
by Jack Stuef
11:08 am January 5, 2011
Michele Bachmann may have been spurned by the establishment when she made a play for the Republican leadership of the House, but that just made her want to run for the Senate. And now she has decided to “seriously weigh” running for president of the United States. Hooray! She will hold every elected office in the land simultaneously! Bachmann will head to Iowa this month, and has $3 million left in her campaign account. Sure, it’s probably just wishful thinking that she and Sarah Palin will run for president. But let’s wishfully think. As Barack Obama once said, “Hope.”
So any other details besides “a source said so!,” ABC News?
It is not known how soon Bachmann will finalize her decision on whether to seek the GOP nomination for president. Bachmann, the founder and chairwoman of the House Tea Party Caucus, is scheduled to be a guest on ABC News’ political webcast “Top Line” on Friday.

Nicole Kidman: ‘I Prayed To God’ After Meeting Keith Urban (PHOTO)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/05/nicole-kidman-i-prayed-to-god-after-meeting-keith-urban-photo_n_804644.html
Jennifer Aniston interviews Nicole Kidman in the new Harper’s Bazaar, and the Aussie actress had a few words of holy wisdom for her love-troubled ‘Just Go With It’ co-star: pray to the man upstairs.
That’s what Kidman did, she said, when she met current husband, country star Keith Urban.
“I remember thinking, Oh, my God, if you ever gave me a man like that, I promise I would be completely devoted for the rest of my life,” Kidman told Aniston. “Something that wild. I remembered praying after I met him that I’d meet somebody, if not him, like him.”
a little wierd, but understandable after what she had just left.
Admire Kidman seeking and asking for the kind of man she wanted.

95,000 poor Minnesotans will get Medicaid today
By WARREN WOLFE, Star Tribune
Last update: January 5, 2011 – 7:01 AM
Under the change, about 95,000 people will get better medical care, advocates say. But the shift will take months, and critics fear the long-term costs will hurt the state.
With the stroke of a pen, Gov. Mark Dayton on Wednesday will launch the most sweeping changes to Minnesota health care in years, adding 95,000 of the poorest adults to the state’s Medicaid rolls.
The expansion, permitted by the federal health overhaul of 2010, was the subject of fierce budget and ideological debate at the Legislature last spring. But many local doctors and hospital executives say it will improve medical care for thousands of people who have lived at the margins of the health care system.

‘Let his days be few’: Prison officer suspended over spoof ‘prayer’ for Obama
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1344086/Joke-prayer-President-Obama-sparks-investigation-sergeant-disciplined.html
A prison officer has been suspended for highlighting a verse in a bible and jokingly labelling it ‘The Obama Prayer’, it was revealed today.
Sgt. Matthew Neu of Manatee County Jail in Florida circled a line from the book of Psalm: Chapter 109 Verse 8, which reads, ‘Let his days be few; and let another take his office’.
The verse, which has become known as Obama’s Prayer, has been emailed and tweeted round the globe by Obama critics since late 2009 when it became a hit on Google trends.
For many the slogan is a humorous way of expressing disapproval for the President.
Sgt. Neu’s colleagues at the Manatee County Central Jail facility in Palmetto, Florida, say it’s a well known fact that Neu is not a fan of President Obama.
But one of the sergeant’s co-workers thought he had gone too far and reported his joke to the authorities.
An internal investigation was ordered which culminated in a 16-page report on the incident, and Sergeant Neu was suspended without pay for 26 hours.
Mrs Nash told investigators that the bible belonged to her and that ‘whoever left the note wanted the president dead’.
The verse which follows reads, ‘Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.’ And the Psalm in its entirety asks God to destroy the man.
Neu told investigators that he had planned to show the bible verse to others as he found it funny, but he said it was not intended as a threat to the president.
He said he did not want the president dead, just out of office.
In the 16 page investigation report, however, he admitted ‘Maybe it was not in good taste.’
The officer knew exactly what he doing. I’m glad the co-worker reported it. This ain’t no joke and no one is playing, mofo!
White fear is some deep shit isn’t it? A prison officer, no surpirses here. I’ve said it before, these police, guards, are just KKK cloaked in blue and holding badges.
