  1. Text of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi’s letter to President Barack Obama

    http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5jbeXpB0ISyILPcTXQJLZzHuPH2cA?docId=6484294

WASHINGTON — The following is the text of a letter sent to President Barack Obama on Wednesday by Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. The misspellings and grammatical errors are in the original letter.

    __

    Our son, Excellency,

    President Obama

    U.S.A

We have been hurt more morally that physically because of what had happened against us in both deeds and words by you. Despite all this you will always remain our son whatever happened. We still pray that you continue to be president of the U.S.A. We Endeavour and hope that you will gain victory in the new election campaigne. You are a man who has enough courage to annul a wrong and mistaken action. I am sure that you are able to shoulder the responsibility for that. Enough evidence is available, Bearing in mind that you are the president of the strongest power in the world nowadays, and since Nato is waging an unjust war against a small people of a developing country. This country had already been subjected to embargo and sanctions, furthermore it also suffered a direct military armed aggression during Reagan’s time. This country is Libya. Hence, to serving world peace … Friendship between our peoples … and for the sake of economic, and security co-operation against terror, you are in a position to keep Nato off the Libyan affair for good.

  2. Miseries abound for besieged Libyans

    http://worldblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/04/05/6413466-miseries-abound-for-besieged-libyans-

Libyans in the besieged city of Misrata are suffering a host of horrors at the hands of forces loyal to Moammar Gadhafi, including beatings, rapes, summary executions and worsening food and medicine shortages, a spokesman for the opposition said Tuesday.

More than 1,000 people have been killed or are presumed dead in Misrata since the conflict began in early February, and another 100 are listed as missing, said the spokesman, who spoke on condition that he not be identified.

“The security situation remains grave, especially in particular areas where Gadhafi’s forces are still present — whether in the form of heavy artillery tanks on the ground or in the form of groups of snipers positioned alongside some of the areas … very close to the city or in the suburbs,” he told msnbc.com via Skype from Libya’s third largest city.

Opposition fighters managed to repel an advance by Gadhafi forces from the east on Saturday, with the help of bombardments from coalition aircraft. But part of a food supply depot at the city’s port went up in flames. Though residents are grateful for the coalition’s help, they wanted to know why it did not act sooner.

    DO YOUR RESEARCH

All governments are dictatorships. Gadhafi is one of them. But do you know who the biggest gangsters are???? Know what the hell you’re talking about by DOING YOUR RESEARCH ON HISTORY. This is a satanic system and $$$$/oil rules. These bankers worship the devil. The Black race is the real lost sheep of the house of Israel. That’s why you are and have always been the banker’s BIGGEST TARGET. When the real BLACK Christ returns, all crowns shall fall. CHRIST, THE MOST HIGH (God), and THE HOLY SPIRIT are the ones who will prevail. WAKE UP. If you are sincere, then once you dig and do research, you will understand. War on drugs, Iran/Contra, Tuskegee Experiment, Eugenics, government funding of the KKK, Prison/Military Industrial Complex ring a bell??? If not, then LOOK IT UP! THEY HAVE ALWAYS HAD PLOTS TO KILL THE BLACK RACE. But Satan is coming after everybody now, even regular white people. No sweat though, because the REAL CHRIST will slay the devil and his henchman. He’s the only one they fear!

  4. Evelyn says:

You invade Bahrain. We take out Muammar Gaddafi in Libya. This, in short, is the essence of a deal struck between the Barack Obama administration and the House of Saud. Two diplomatic sources at the United Nations independently confirmed that Washington, via Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, gave the go-ahead for Saudi Arabia to invade Bahrain and crush the pro-democracy movement in their neighbor in exchange for a “yes” vote by the Arab League for a no-fly zone over Libya – the main rationale that led to United Nations Security Council resolution 1973.
The revelation came from two different diplomats, a European and a member of the BRIC group, and was made separately to a US scholar and Asia Times Online.

  5. Evelyn says:

Libyans have the right to decide what type of government they want. Democracy does not work for all societies nor real democracy exist in the world. USA and Europe does not posses the moral authority to tell other nations how they should be govern since they have been participants of atrocities against human rights

    • Ametia says:

Hi Evelyn. You’ll get no argument from me on Lybians having the right to decide what type of government they want.

    • Hello Evelyn,

      http://www.npr.org/2011/04/03/135086550/libyan-rebel-official-says-they-seek-democracy

“Libyans as a whole and I am one of them want a civilian democracy, not dictatorship, not tribalism and not one based on violence or terrorism,” Abdel-Hafidh Ghoga, vice chairman of the National Provisional Council, said in an interview with The Associated Press.

“We will not accept radicalism, terrorism or dictatorship. We want a democratic state based on a multiparty system, the peaceful transfer of power, separation of powers, and for Libya to have, from the beginning, a constitution,” he said.

And there you have it. Democracy is what the Libyan people want. What do you think the people are protesting for? They want change from 42 years of hell, Evelyn! Freedom & Democracy!

      • Ametia says:

        AND.THERE.YOU.HAVE.IT.

      • Evelyn says:

If that’s what the Libyans want, let them fight for it among themselves. They are grown up culture. When Americans decided to fight for their workers rights and for their civil rights, I did not read in any history books saying that UN, Europe, or Arab countries intervened.

      • When Americans decided to fight for their workers rights and for their civil rights, I did not read in any history books saying that UN, Europe, or Arab countries intervened.

America didn’t ask them to intervene during the Civil Rights Movement. The Libyan people asked for help!

  6. Gaddafi Tells Greece Libya Wants Fighting To End

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/03/gaddafi-greece-libya_n_844202.html

TRIPOLI (Reuters) – A Libyan minister told Greece’s prime minister on Sunday that Tripoli wanted fighting to end, while a Turkish ship evacuated wounded from the besieged city of Misrata, leaving thousands more pleading to be rescued.

With rebels and Gaddafi forces seemingly at a stalemate in eastern Libya and civilians trapped by fighting in the west, diplomatic efforts have intensified to seek an end to the war.

Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Abdelati Obeidi flew to Athens to convey a message from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Obeidi told Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou that Libya wanted the fighting to end, a Greek government official told Reuters.

“It seems that the Libyan authorities are seeking a solution,” Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas told reporters. He said Obeidi planned to travel on to Malta and Turkey.

Greece has enjoyed good relations with Gaddafi for a number of years. Papandreou has been talking by phone with officials in Tripoli as well as the leaders of Qatar, Turkey and Britain over the last two days.

If you want the fighting to stop—then step down and leave!

  7. Ametia says:

Ten Libyan rebels killed in coalition air strike
    By REUTERS
    04/02/2011 18:00

Rebels call for continued allied attacks against rapidly advancing Gaddafi forces following “unfortunate mistake.”
BREGA, Libya – A Western coalition air strike hit a group of rebels on the eastern outskirts of Brega late on Friday, killing at least 10 of them, rebel fighters at the scene said on Saturday.

The rebel leadership described the deaths as an unfortunate mistake and called for continued air strikes against Gaddafi’s forces, who thrust east out of Brega on Saturday using rockets and machineguns.

Their rapid advance sent hundreds of anti-government fighters fleeing back down the coast road, erasing two days of rebel gains.

Better-trained and experienced rebel fighters had earlier been fighting Gaddafi’s forces inside Brega, but it was unclear whether they had held their ground or pulled back into the desert. Most journalists moved back east with the rebels.

  9. Greg A Jones says:

Ghadaffi, I believe, Was a revolutionary. His intentions (again, My belief) while built on anger from US intervention, were nationalistic and for the good of his people. Like many that came before him, He was seduced by the hard work of the CIA to undercut his original goals. When You look at his Neighbors, You will see a progressive agenda stunted by the influence for American Interests. However these concessions lead to corruption. After a while his base eroded away, and left him vulnerable. The State Department saw their chance and took it. Their is more at stake here than one Country’s Sovereignty. This is a blowback dating back to the decision to rule by religious principle’s from the Ottoman Empire with Lawrence of Arabia’s Conquest.
These are new time’s brought to us by the Age of Sensibility. The people of the middle east want Government by Contract. The land that brought us Magna Carta, The “Written rule of Law by agreement”, is now ready to Write their Own laws. Our state department can not deal with that. As representatives of American interest’s (Attorneys For Corporate America), Its a lot tougher to instill austerity measures with a democratic rule of law. This entire region will undergo a Rousseauian Revolution that will cost Corporate America , Trillions of dollars a year.
So this battle , not just for Libya, but the entire middle east is between the CIA who did the hard work of corruption and the State Department Who wants to place the Iron Boot of Oppression on the neck of the Middle East.

    • Good Morning, Greg!

What do you account for the uprisings/protests that happened/and or is happening in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, Jordan etc? This is about freedom and democracy. And it has spread like wild fire across the Middle East. The people want change. They want their human rights. Change is coming to the Middle East. Gaddafi may try to prolong that change but he cannot stop it. Gunning down innocent people who are protesting for democracy is wrong. The US intervention to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe is MORALLY right.

    • Ametia says:

Hi Greg. I see you’re from the old school of Western imperialism, CIA, corruption, oil, etc, etc, etc, .. No doubt that Moammar helped cash strapped countries. Care to explain him supporting Idi Amin against Tanzinia?, his dealings in Dafur, Sierra Leone war?

Please, Ghadaffi is not the victim here. His corrupt power and oppressed his own people making them dependent on him for their very basic survival. He who has the power to giveth, TAKETH. Yet you and other folks come here apologizing for this brutal dictator.

His people? NO one owns people. The citizens of Lybia should be GRATEFUL for free housing and healthcare? The Lybian people want FREEDOM from dictatorship. Young people want CHANGE, not the status quo.

What about the citizens of Lybia who WANT HIM GONE?

    • Greg,

Care to elaborate on Gaddafi ordering the bombing of Pam Am Flight 103 where 259 people aboard all perished?

    • Evelyn says:

USA and the rest of the western world have Magna Carta and the Constitution. Libyans have the Green Book for wish they use to govern themselves. We have to learn to respect other nations and allows them to evolved at their own pace. Why the western society are obsessed to bring the world at their pace even though they are drugged up with uppers and downers to overcome stressful life they create to themselves?

      • Evelyn, I just posted a quote from Abdel-Hafidh Ghoga, vice chairman of the National Provisional Council. Did you read what he stated to the Associated Press? No one is forcing democracy upon the Libyan people. They want it themselves. It’s the reason they’re protesting. And it’s sweeping across the Middle East. You sound as if you’re against what they want? Why is that?

“The Security Council is charged with maintaining peace and security among countries. While other organs of the United Nations can only make ‘recommendations’ to member governments, the Security Council has the power to make binding decisions that member governments have agreed to carry out, under the terms of Charter Article 25.[10] The decisions of the Council are known as United Nations Security Council resolutions.”

    • Evelyn says:

I’m not against social movement. I’m against foreign interventions. And I believed in sovereignty of the nations.

      • There is an agreement between the United Nations that there is a certain code of conduct they must uphold for their citizens. The intervention comes in …when it comes down to a country slaughtering it’s citizens. But you know that! Did you expect other countries to turn a blind eye to innocent people being slaughtered?

The mission to strike Libya was backed by the United Nations, The House Foreign Affairs and Intelligence Committees & The Arab league.

      • Evelyn

What are your thoughts on Gaddafi ordering the bombing of Pam Am Flight 103 where 259 people innocent people lost their lives?

      • UN Security Council Approves Libya Airstrikes

        http://www.whitehousedossier.com/2011/03/17/security-council-approves-libya-airstrikes/

The United Nations approved airstrikes against Libya, giving President Obama the option to create a No Fly Zone and bomb Libyan tanks and heavy armor to prevent him from defeating the rebellion.

      • Evelyn says:

The same as when CIA supported a terrorist act called Plan Condor in Latin America where it trained assassins from the military governments to killed and disappeared thousands of people in Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras and the whole entire South and Central America. My friend, the this world stinks

      • Evelyn says:

I am telling you. The state terrorism worldwide.. But if Qaddafi killed 259 people in the plane, USA supported financially and logistically military governments in Latin America to killed more than 60,000 people who just wanted to live in a democratic society. CIA and FBI collected information of dissidents from those countries and gave it to military governments so they can tracked them down and disappeared them. Now, why USA supports anti-democratic governments in one part of the world and saying that they want to bring democracy in the Middle East? Isn’t this some kind of game, double speech, double morality, and or hypocrisy?

        • But if Qaddafi killed 259 people in the plane? If? Evelyn, you’re being intellectually dishonest! You know darn well he ordered the bombing. What’s the reason YOU don’t support democracy in the Middle East? Is it because Minister Farrakhan supports Gaddafi? What does it mean for you or the people you support if Gaddafi is out of power? Judging from your conversation, you don’t give a damn about what the Libyan people want.

      • Evelyn says:

My dear friend, justice will prevail. But will not be Pax Americana justice, it will be human justice.

  11. Libyan rebels prepared to accept cease-fire if Gaddafi lifts sieges, allows protests

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/libyan-rebels-prepared-to-accept-cease-fire-if-gaddafi-lifts-sieges-allows-protests/2011/04/01/AFNVs5GC_story.html

BENGHAZI, Libya — Rebels battling the regime of Moammar Gaddafi would accept a cease-fire if government forces pull out of cities they are besieging and allow peaceful protests, the head of the opposition’s interim government said Friday.

“We are seeking immediate withdrawal of Gaddafi forces around and inside cities, to give Libyan people the freedom to choose,” said Mustafa Abdel Jalil, chairman of the rebels’ Transitional National Council.

“Our main aim is to remove the siege from the cities,” he said.

Abdel Jalil, who formerly served as Gaddafi’s justice minister before defecting last month amid a popular uprising, stressed that the rebels remain steadfast in their demand that Gaddafi and his family leave power. And he said the rebels would need weapons deliveries if the more heavily armed and better organized government forces keep fighting.

In a joint news conference with U.N. special envoy Abdul-Illah Khatib, a former Jordanian foreign minister, Abdel Jalil said: “We have no objection to a cease-fire but on condition that Libyans in western cities have full freedom in expressing their views.” He said that if the inhabitants of the besieged cities are allowed to express themselves, “the world will see that they will choose freedom.”

Prayers to the people of Libya!

So I guess Louis and nem want the rebels and other citizens of Lybia to BE QUIET too.

Naw, naw, naw, the chickens are coming home to roost in Lybia’s backyard.

      • When evil gets to rockin…Karma comes a knockin!!!!!!!!

      • Ametia says:

How you gonna roll all up in here and tell us that folks should be grateful that a dictator of a country for 40 years is providing free education, healthcare, food and water, and yet folks aren’t FREE to speak up for their rights? Is that the conditon for the freedom to live? And LF’s going to tell us that the evil ole CIA is in Lybia planting seeds of dissent in the Lybian citizens, and that’s why they’re protesting.
        GMAFB

      • Some folks can’t see the truth if it smacked them. The gall to think folks shouldn’t want their rights. Would Minister Farrakhan give up his rights as an American citizen? I see he sure exercised his right to freedom of speech yesterday? But none for the Libyan people?

        • Ametia says:

Yes, to bully and bash America, yet, the citizens of Lybia can’t speak out against their countries atrocities? No, because Louis has been given his instructions to divert attention to America, the country he lives in and enjoys the freedoms of speaking his mind against the Lybia rebels, while throwing al quaeda and CIA in the mix to further stoke fears and angst of the dumb ass white folks here.

      You can’t go on
      Thinking nothing’s wrong, but bye
Who’s gonna drive you home tonight

      Who’s gonna pick you up
      When you fall
      Who’s gonna hang it up
      When you call
      Who’s gonna pay attention
      To your dreams
      Who’s gonna plug their ears
      When you scream
      You can’t go on
      Thinking nothing’s wrong
Who’s gonna drive you home tonight

      Who’s gonna hold you down
      When you shake
      Who’s gonna come around
      When you break
      You can’t go on
      Thinking nothing’s wrong
Who’s gonna drive you home tonight
Oh you know you can’t go on
      Thinking nothing’s wrong

Farrakhan defends Gadhafi in Chicago speech

March 31, 2011 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is coming to the defense of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. Thursday, in Chicago, Minister Farrakhan blasted the United States’ intervention in Libya and predicted that it will lead to catastrophic consequences for the U.S.

It was a rare news conference for Nation of Islam leader Farrakhan, who spoke in defense of his old friend and benefactor Moammar Gadhafi. He warned President Barack Obama, the U.S. government and its allies to pay close attention to his words that were transmitted by satellite Thursday around the world.

“You’re dealing with a man that you’re gonna have to deal with,” said Farrakhan. “And you can’t deal with me the way you deal with your customary negroes.”

    Video excerpt

Minister Farrakhan, in the style of a prophet, predicted that the United States would be punished by God for its intervention in Libya.

“A major earthquake is on its way to you and me and us,” he said.

Farrakhan, who has known the Libyan leader since the 1980s, was criticized for traveling to Libya in 1997. He says Gadhafi has given or loaned the Nation of Islam millions of dollars, including money to help buy the former South Side Greek orthodox church that is now the group’s headquarters mosque, as well as investments in other Nation of Islam real estate and business ventures.

“What kind of brother would I be if a man who has been that way to me and to us, and when he is in trouble I refused to raise my voice in his defense?” said Farrakhan.

In his 90-minute statement, Farrakhan blamed Zionists for directing U.S. policy in the Mideast and trying to force a wedge between himself and President Obama.

“You don’t have no black man in America that has an argument with the Jews but Farrakhan. Well, who in the Bible has the biggest argument with the Jews of that day? Was it not Jesus?” said Farrakhan.

The Anti-Defamation League was outraged by the minister’s remarks, e-mailing a statement that said, “(Thursday’s speech) further demonstrates how far outside of the mainstream Farrakhan really is.”

The minister also took issue with State Department and media characterizations of Gadhafi.

“He’s not the mad dog of the Middle East,” Farrakhan said. “The mad dogs are biting and growling in Washington, D.C.”

The news conference was attended by several hundred people who interrupted Minister Farrakahn with applause several times during the speech.

Farrakhan was not as critical of President Obama as expected, but he certainly appeared to dial up the anti-Jewish rhetoric.

I’m just go say this, then I will leave you all to indulge and soak in your ignorance. I don’t know which of you or any of you if any believe in the Bible. But when you read through the Bible you see that EVERY Prophet and Messenger of God was deemed “crazy” or “demon-possessed”. The people of that day thought Lot was crazy, David was crazy, Abraham was crazy, they thought Jesus was crazy. It never changes when one comes claiming God and knowledge from God the masses of the people all think the Prophet and/or Messenger is crazy. If he was a nut he would be in a mental institution. He and me and the congregation of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad are not nuts. In ending Revelation 12:9 “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world.” The whole worlds been decieved. The Bible further states a man like Jesus would come back and tell the world how they have been decieved and who is the “Great Deciever”. But just like when Jesus came back then not many believed him. Also @Ametia you say “How can you preach love and unity on one hand, then hate and destruction on the other hand?” The Bible says when the one like Jesus comes back he will bring peace to the world….. and destruction. That’s why the scriptures say he will come back not giving peace, but with a sword. In a vision he was scene treading the wine press alone, his garments soaked in red. In other words alot of killing is going to be done. Take it or let it alone. Peace Be Unto You all.

What is your point on Minister Farrakhan’s rantings on Lybia and President Obama? I am neither Christian or a Muslim. What does this have to do with Lybia’s dictator and Farrakhan’s defense of him and admonishment of our president?

I believe in separation of CHURCH & STATE. Leave the scriptures out of this, and speak to the politics of this. If you believe the mean, dirty, Americans want Lybia’s oil, then say it. Please leave God, Jesus, and Allah out of this.

More ”defections from Gaddafi”s inner circle”

Gaddafi”s choice as ambassador to UN says he will not serve, amid reports of more defections from Libya leader”s regime.
    Last Modified: 31 Mar 2011 23:39
There are unconfirmed reports that more people have left the inner circle of Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan leader, following the high level desertion of Moussa Koussa, Libya”s foreign minister, who arrived in the UK on Wednesday.

It is understood a group of top officials who had headed to Tunisia for talks have decided to stay there.

Some Arabic newspapers said Mohammad Abu Al Qassim Al Zawi, the head of Libya”s Popular Committee, the country’s equivalent of a parliament, is among the defectors.

Nazanine Moshiri, Al Jazeera”s correspondent in Tunis, said that Abu Zayed Dordah, Libya”s prime minister from 1990 to 1994, has also been mentioned.

On Thursday, a second top official confirmed that he would not serve in Gaddfai”s regime.

Ali Abdessalam Treki, a former foreign minister and UN general assembly president, had been named to represent Libya at the UN after a wave of defections early in the uprising.

Treki, who is currently in Cairo, said in a statement posted on several opposition websites that he was
not going to accept that job or any other.

“We should not let our country fall into an unknown fate,” he said. “It is our nation”s right to live in freedom, democracy and a good life.”

    ”Crumbling from within”

William Hague, Britain”s foreign minister, said that Koussa had not been offered immunity from prosecution and is “voluntarily talking” to authorities.

Koussa was staying in a safe and secure place and engaged in ongoing discussions with British diplomats, including some who worked at the now-shuttered embassy in Libya, Hague said.

“His [Koussa”s] resignation shows that [Muammar] Gaddafi”s regime … is fragmented, under pressure and crumbling from within,” he said.

Hague said Koussa had been his contact with the regime in recent weeks and that he had spoken with him several times.

“One thing I gathered between the lines of my telephone calls … was that he was very distressed and dissatisfied” by the regime”s response to protests, Hague said.

Hague said the British government encouraged others around Gaddafi to abandon him and “embrace a better future for Libya.”

A Libyan government spokesman confirmed on Thursday that Koussa had resigned but said that Gaddafi still enjoyed the support of his people.

Moussa Ibrahim said that Koussa”s decision was personal and “other people will step in and do the job”.

Ibrahim said Koussa had been given permission to go to Tunisia because he was sick with diabetes and high blood pressure.

He said the goverment did not know he would go to London.

    ”Tight security”

Many Libyan government figures have resigned since the uprising against Gaddafi began on February 15.

Interior minister Abdel Fattah Younis and justice minister Mustafa Mohamed al-Jalil have both left, as have numerous ambassadors around the world.

Most high-level Libyan officials are trying to defect but are under tight security and having difficulty leaving the country, a top Libyan diplomat now supporting the opposition said on Thursday.

Ibrahim Dabbashi, Libya”s deputy UN ambassador, said that Libya”s UN mission, which now totally supports the opposition, knew two days in advance that Koussa planned to defect on Wednesday.

He said the mission had been waiting for about 10 days for Thursday”s defection of Ali Abdessalam Treki, a former foreign minister selected by Gaddafi to be the new UN ambassador.

“We know that most of the high Libyan officials are trying to defect, but most of them are under tight security measures and they cannot leave the country,” said Dabbashi.

“But we are sure that many of them will benefit from the first chance to be out of the country and to defect.

“I don”t think it is easy. But anyway, who has the will, he will find the way.””

    ”Status reviewed”

Before Koussa”s defection, the Nicaraguan government said he sent a letter appointing Miguel D”Escoto Brockmann, a former priest who served as Nicaragua”s first foreign minister after the 1979 Sandinista revolution, as Libya”s new UN ambassador.

A news conference with D”Escoto, scheduled by Nicaragua”s UN mission, was postponed from Thursday to Friday and then postponed again, with no future date announced.

The mission gave no explanation for the delays.

Farhan Haq, a UN spokesman, said the UN had not officially received any letter from Libya regarding a change of credentials involving D”Escoto.

He said the UN did receive a copy of a note from Nicaragua addressed to all UN missions which attached a copy of Koussa”s letter to the secretary-general, but he stressed that the UN had never received that letter.

Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the UN, said on Wednesday that D”Escoto needed a G-1 visa, the US visa required for diplomatic representation, if he wants to represent Libya.

If he tries to do so on the tourist visa he now holds, she warned, “he will soon have his visa status reviewed”.

Although D”Escoto was born in Los Angeles, California, and once held dual citizenship, Rice said he has renounced his US citizenship.

    Lockerbie questions

Scottish authorities said on Thursday that they wished to interview Koussa over the 1988 Lockerbie bombing.

“We have notified the Foreign and Commonwealth Office that the Scottish prosecuting and investigating authorities wish to interview Mr Koussa in connection with the Lockerbie bombing,” Scotland”s crown office said in a statement.

“The investigation into the Lockerbie bombing remains open and we will pursue all relevant lines of inquiry.”

The bombing over the Scottish town in 1988 killed 259 people, mostly Americans, on the plane and 11 on the ground.

Last month, Mustafa Abdel Jalil, the former Libyan justice minister and leader of the rebel”s interim national council, said that Gaddafi ordered intelligence officers, including the convicted bomber Abdel Baset al Megrahi, to carry out the bombing.

Jim Swire, whose daughter Flora was among those killed, said Koussa”s arrival in Britain was an opportunity to finally shed some light on the bombing.

“Koussa was at the centre of Gaddafi”s inner circle. This is a guy who knows everything,” he said.

“I think this is a fantastic day for those who seek the truth about Lockerbie. He could tell us everything the Gaddafi regime knows.”

Farrakhan: Libya has lent Nation of Islam millions
    By KAREN HAWKINS
    Associated Press
    Updated: Mar 31, 2011 6:30 PM CDT

CHICAGO (AP) – Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan reiterated his defense of Moammar Gadhafi on Thursday, calling the embattled Libyan leader a friend and Muslim brother who’s lent the movement $8 million over the years.

Farrakhan, speaking at a rare news conference, railed against the media and said Gadhafi isn’t the monster being portrayed by Western governments.

The 78-year-old minister criticized the U.S. government and President Barack Obama – whom he also called a brother – for launching military action against Libya without justification. He accused Americans of just wanting Gadhafi out of the picture to secure oil interests.

“I love Moammar Gadhafi, and I love our president,” Farrakhan told several hundred cheering supporters at the Nation of Islam’s headquarters. “It grieves me to see my brother president set a policy that would remove this man not only from power, but from the earth.”

Obama has defended America’s military involvement in Libya, saying the U.S. has intervened to prevent a slaughter of civilians. He has ruled out targeting Gadhafi militarily, and the U.S. turned over control of the military operation to NATO on Thursday. Gadhafi, who has ruled Libya for decades, has been battling opposition forces.

Farrakhan portrayed Gadhafi as a fellow revolutionary and longtime friend to the Nation of Islam, which used $3 million it borrowed from Libya in the 1970s to acquire its opulent headquarters on Chicago’s South Side. Years later, a $5 million loan was used to pay back taxes and costs for the home of the movement’s former leader Elijah Muhammad.

Farrakhan has publicly defended Gadhafi at several recent events, including the Nation of Islam’s annual Saviours’ Day convention in February and at a civil rights convention last week. He said the U.S. government shouldn’t be attacking Libya when it has stayed out of other conflicts around the world.

He called for a cease-fire on both sides in Libya and a chance for the Libyan people to vote on whether Gadhafi should stay in power. He dismissed allegations that Gadhafi has violently cracked down on his own people, saying the Libyan leader was “killing traitors.”

“Do you really think that Brother Gadhafi really was going to slaughter 700,000 people?” Farrakhan said. “If that were true … where are all the bodies?”

“I don’t care what Gadhafi has done wrong, he is not the ‘mad dog of the Middle East,'” he said, a reference to the label former President Ronald Reagan once gave Gadhafi.

Farrakhan said he originally called the news conference to warn the country about a huge earthquake that he’s foreseen, cautioning that Americans “are worse prepared than the Japanese,” who are trying to recover from a devastating earthquake and tsunami that touched off a nuclear crisis.

  20. Revealed: Gaddafi envoy in Britain for secret talks
Exclusive: Contact with senior aide believed to be one of a number between Libyan officials and west amid signs regime may be looking for exit strategy

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/31/gaddaf-envoy-britain-secret-talks-exit-strategy

Colonel Gaddafi’s regime has sent one of its most trusted envoys to London for confidential talks with British officials, the Guardian can reveal.

Mohammed Ismail, a senior aide to Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam, visited London in recent days, British government sources familiar with the meeting have confirmed.

The contacts with Ismail are believed to have been one of a number between Libyan officials and the west in the last fortnight, amid signs that the regime may be looking for an exit strategy.

Disclosure of Ismail’s visit comes in the immediate aftermath of the defection to Britain of Moussa Koussa, Libya’s foreign minister and the country’s former external intelligence head, who has been Britain’s main conduit to the Gaddafi regime since the early 1990s.

A team led by the British ambassador to Libya, Richard Northern, and MI6 officers, embarked on a lengthy debriefing of Koussa at a safe house after he flew into Farnborough airport on Wednesday night from Tunisia. Government sources said the questioning would take time because Koussa’s state of mind was “delicate” after he left his family in Libya. The Foreign Office declined “to provide a running commentary” on contacts with Ismail or other regime officials. But news of the meeting comes amid mounting speculation that Gaddafi’s sons, foremost among them Saif al-Islam, Saadi and Mutassim, are anxious to explore a way out of the crisis in Libya.

Dam!@#*!, yall sound incredibly ignorant and straight stooopid! i take it you have not read one book about Libya, its history, its revolution or Qaddafi…further, you are totally out of the loop when it comes to Farrakhan. i may not be in the NOI but i have AT LEAST taken the time out to learn, question and listen. Seems like you only go by the media—albeit, the same media which has always portrayed people of color in a negative light.

  22. Ametia says:

    FYI

I tried to type verbatim what Farrakhan said doing the Q &A. The rest of my comments are my own interpretations of what he said. We’ll post a video of the 2 hour rant when/if it becomes available.

  23. dannie22 says:

Ok y’all. I’m just checking in. Please tell me that Farrakhan did not just day all that mess. He didn’t threaten the President, did he?

  24. Listen to him…If they kill that brother (Gaddafi) those chickens will come back home to roost!

  25. Ametia says:

Arab Journal reporter: “They are there to save Muslim lives.” How can they say that, when they have been in Iraq, Iran, Afghanastan. No fly zone in Lybia. Why NFZ in Lepanghaser?

LF: To the media, listen, He raised a question that you can answer. When guns went into Gaza and other anti-personnel weapons, Condi, Rice GW Bush, American people… watched and there was not real humanitarian concern.

  26. Ametia says:

I’ve been typing up the Q&A as much as I can down thread.

  27. stool pigeons within the Nation of Islam got dealt with?

    • Ametia says:

LF: Now PBO is evil and “has been blood on his hands.” Black against Muslim. Lawdy. Evoking the CIA, oldest trick in the book. Americans, if they hang around me long enough, they will rise up against their wicked government.

They cannot convince anyone in the muslim world of humanitarian efforts.

      • Meen5b says:

Go to youtube and watch “Farrakhan World Leader”. You all don’t know who you are dealing with. He’s a nut this.. he’s a nut that.. yeh ok.. When the earthquake hits remember who you heard it from..

        • Ametia says:

No you go to youtube and watch it. We’ve seen and heard it all right here today. Look, if you follow Minister Farrakhan, more power to you. I don’t need or want to. I don’t buy into the FEAR. Earth cycles occur, ok, I’m not afraid, and the rantings of a man aren’t going to change that.

        • Meen, don’t be silly. We know earthquakes happen. And I’m sure a major one will happen here in America. We just have to pray and ask God for mercy when it happens. We cannot live our lives hiding in fear.

  28. WTF is he saying? He is straight up threatening!

    • Ametia says:

It’s all WHITEY’s fault. Barack, my brotha, you’d better beware, teh hypocrites are using you. You have NO real power, they’re using you to get to ME, via your Arab muslim brother Moammar!

Sorry, folks, It’s All about the money for Minister Farrakhan.

  29. rikyrah says:

Is he taking questions from the media?

    • Ametia says:

Not yet. He’s threatening the killing of our President. He’s not slick. He’s setting it up as wil come after him if Moammar goes down. Money is the supreme power in America, he says.

    • Ametia says:

Now he is taking questions from teh media

WVON: have you been contacted for suspicions of treason?

L F: do you realize we are fulfiling a prophecy right now? I’m waling in the Master’s shoes. Take it, or leave it alone.

Bill Rogers from Channel 5: “Speak on disasters
LF: I’m not delusional, insane, You’er dealing with a man you’re not customed in dealing with. You can’t kill me, like you did Malcolm, Martin. If you think I’m crazy, just breathe a little more. you heard it first

Karen Hawkins, AP: REspond to the talk of Ghaddaffi been hurting his own people?

LF: Bush has been hurting his own people. Ghaddaffi didn’t rob Goldman Sacs, Barack is hurting the American People, and they are making a mvoe to make sure he’s a one term president. Wisconsin just a seed, the union just a seed. your government you need to question. Ghadaffi can’t get over here to do harm to you.

Don’t wait for revouluton create evolution. People want change, if you wise, every parent that is a dictator, they told you when to come in, what food to eat, what room to sleep in. the values parents are set in kids, you have to let them go on and … ramblings…. learn how to dialogue with your women. lots of weapons in the kitchen.

Chicago Tribune reporter: People asking for things, the rebel. Were they not getting it from Ghaddaffi.

LF: I’m sure there were some that felt this. Folks want change. We would be wise to listen. Their are folks who are aggrieved.

Barack has already signed the covert ops, boots on teh ground. Look under it, the policy has not changed. “Kill Ghadaffi.”
Do you really think he would have slaughtered 700,000 people? Where are the bodies. show the American people the bodies, You are liars!
This is how you manuever the American people. You make them the boogey man.
I’ve had many conversations with brother.

  30. rikyrah says:

Thanks for doing this. can’t watch at work.

    • Ametia says:

Rikyrah. FARRAKHAN IS STRAIGHT UP CRAZY. He’s calling on the US and allies to cease fire on his MONEY BAGS MOAMMAR.

He’s warning POTUS of the betrayals. he’s been defending the dictators, and condeming the rebels. DISGUSTING!

  31. Oh, so now the Libyan people are lazy?

    • Ametia says:

Yes, and ungrateful for those free flats and hospitals the dictators gave’em! People want their FREEDOM, like you Farrakhan. they want education, jobs, food, homes that they earned themselves.

  32. Ametia says:

If this dude were white, Fox News would hire Farrakhan. He’d give Glen Beck a run, that’s for sure. Straight up crazy…

  33. Ametia says:

SMGDGH This is disgusting! Here it goes, Hate Whitey! And calling our president a sellout. You SOLDOUT to a muderous dictator Ghadaffi, Farrakhan!

  34. Ametia says:

I’m sure PBO’s got a staffer watching this. *scratching head*

  35. President Obama will have a brilliant future after the White House, Minister Farrakhan. He’s the one who gave the Middle East hope. This is why you see people protesting for freedom & democracy!

  36. Did Minister Farrakhan give a press conference about Rwanda, the Congo or Sudan?

    • Ametia says:

      HELL NAW

And he’s calling the POTUS confused. This dude is off his rocker!

    • Ametia says:

Lawdy, this man is using Time Magazine photos about Reagan & PBO love for him. This man is feeding his followers and teh news reporters a bag-o-shit.

    • sick of fools says:

Was there an outcry from America at what was going on in Rwanda, the congo or Sudan? No, of course not. Black people. He spoke out about it, no press conference. But if America is so concerned about the loss (which is a joke, this country murders its own people and others, which they did by dropping bombs in Libya) of life, why rush to war? Because their feet are swift to shed blood.

This humanitarian argument is just a smoke screen for us and others to pursue polices that serve special interests. ~Ron Paul~

      • Ametia says:

Americaa is not DROPPING bombs on Lybia. and since you’re quoting Ron Paul, Is not Minister Farrakhan’s rant about him pursuing his OWN special money interest?

  37. Ametia says:

He’s calling out hypocrisy. *sigh* Look in the mirror, Farrakhan.

  38. Ametia says:

THE DICTATORS ARE GOING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE EAST TOO!

Farrakhan, we know the 3 piece suits on Wall Street are crooks too. We’re talking Middle EAST now, and Gaddaffi’s muderous reign.

    • sick of fools says:

Your own country is a murderous regime. Your own country is run by extremists. Why is it so easy for you to point the fingers at other and not look at what is going on in your own house? This country has bombed and murdered innocent blacks. What does that make them? Have you been to Libya? What proof of what the media is saying do you have? Did you see him murdering his people? This man has provided for his people free education, housing and healthcare. We are unemployed, homeless and can’t afford medical care. Stop point the fingers at someone speaking the truth about the hypocrisy of America. It is what it is. Look at it and change it. Who are u to judge him or the Minister. I think all three of you should just be quiet.

      • Ametia says:

Hey, sick of YOU. Moammar does not have to do the murdering of his own people, he has some of his own people to do that for him. Have you been to lybia, and do you condone the regime attacking, setting land mines and killing?
        YES OR NO?
Have you seen extremist in this country murder their own people? What proof do you have that he is providing free education, housing and healthcare to his people? And just as you say HE PROVIDES, he can TAKE it AWAY from his people.

Minister Farrakhan’s rant is as outdated, militant and angry as 1960. And the fact that the president has taken a stand on American policy is showing LF’s ture colors. We stand by our comments, thoughts, opinions, and views. And WE will NOT be quiet here or anywhere.

      • Goodness gracious! So testy! Now Now, “sick of fools” why should 3 Chics be quiet and let you have all the say? You have a right to your own opinion but not your own facts. Gaddafi ordered the bombing of Pam Am Flight 103, killing 259 people aboard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan_Am_Flight_103
I didn’t see the bodies, so does it make it not so? The slaves had food, water, a place to sleep & breathed air….was it wrong for them to want freedom? You’re squeezing your eyes shut about a man who has inflicked horrible tragedies upon innocent people just because he gave your hero/leader/ money. That is wrong!

      • Ametia says:

Tell it, SG2. We know what America is far from perfect, but we also know thatPresident Barack Obama’s no fool or puppet, and anything but a commonplace NEGRO, as LF eluded to in his rant.

If he’s so in love with Lybia’s Moammar and his funds, go on and move to Lybia. I’m sure teh followers of NOI would love that.

      • dannie22 says:

        Oh my! Shoo fly!

        • Ametia says:

Tee hee hee. Call girls/boys, on the stroll to edumacate the ignant black americans about the evils of de white man against the black and brown peeples. While Farrkhan defends his suport of moammar because he gives us money and y’all want de oil, blah, blah, blah

      • Spot on, Ametia! We know America is not the perfect country. Blacks have suffered monumental atrocities of slavery & Jim Crow. Even now, I face racism either directly or indirectly everyday. But despite America’s shortcomings…..This is MY Country. I was born here. If “sick of fools” is so disheartened with America…I hope he/she knows they’re free to leave?

        • Ametia says:

De izz mad wid Barack, cause he’s effecting change, and disrupting their game. De black man is now a puppet a fucking commonplace negro to the minister because well, Ghadaffi was my sugar daddy, and Barack and the UN have a NO FLY ZONE in daddy’s yard.

      • LOL

        @Dannie

  39. The people want freedom and democracy; that’s what’s going on in the Middle East, Minister Farrakhan.

    • Ametia says:

He’s not going there. How does he get to stand up in America and feign a press conference in his mosque and not once recognize that the people in the middle east or any continent WANT FREEDOM. He defends a DICTATOR who murders.

  40. Ametia says:

Farrakhan: ” LEAVE MY MONEY TRAIN ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. Ametia says:

This man is angry because he’s not recognized as HEAD OF STATE in
America, like he is in other countries. He’s a hater, because PBO’s the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

  42. So now what? Farrakhan is not going to support the President’s re-election?

  43. Ametia says:

    Where is this man going?

  44. Here we go… the press conference has started.

  45. dannie22 says:

You know doggone well that Farrakhan is mad cause PBO is messing with his money train. Kaddafi pays Farrakhan so Kaddafi prolly called Farrakhan and tole this ninja to get out there and defend his ass!! Folks know that previously Farrakhan had supported PBO and Kaddaffi knows it. Kaddaffi was prolly like, ” who you gone support now? Me, who gives you money. Or the President?

    Farrakhan has made his choice.

I’m not watching. I’m at work. So keep me informed. I really want to be wrong.
