Paul Ryan’s Budget Plan Gives $45 Billion In Oil Subsidies: Benefits Ryan’s Family Interest

PAUL RYAN IS PANHANDLING THAT PATH TO AMERICAN PROSPERITY TO HELP HIS IMPOVERISHED FAMILY!

From Think Progress:

Paul Ryan’s budget, which means austerity for most Americans, turns out to mean prosperity for Ryan and his family.

That budget, which the GOP-led House adopted as its blueprint, slashes funding for everyone from seniors to the disabled to students while preserving $45 billion in tax breaks and subsidies for Big Oil over the next 10 years, as has been widely reported.

But what we have only just learned from Ryan’s financial disclosure forms for Congress (here) that were made public this week is “he and his wife, Janna, own stakes in four family companies that lease land in Texas and Oklahoma to the very energy companies that benefit from the tax subsidies in Ryan’s budget plan,” as The Daily Beast reported today.

Ryan’s father-in-law, Daniel Little, who runs the companies, told Newsweek and The Daily Beast that the family companies are currently leasing the land for mining and drilling to energy giants such as Chesapeake Energy, Devon, and XTO Energy, a recently acquired subsidiary of ExxonMobil.

These energy giants stand to profit directly from the $45 billion in subsidies and tax breaks.  How cozy!

When asked about the blatant conflict of interest, Ryan’s spokesperson offered up the newly-popular “wife” defense:

Ryan’s office says the congressman wasn’t thinking about himself or the oil companies that lease his land when he drafted the budget blueprint that extended the energy tax breaks. “These are properties that Congressman Ryan married into,” spokesman Kevin Seifert said. “It’s not something he has a lot of control over.”

Demagoguery? Really, Paul Ryan.

Here’s the 73 page PDF of that path to prosperity for the Ryan family and the GOP RICH.  Sorry Herman Cain; the plan is  greater than 3 pages.  You think you can handle 73 pages, Mr. Slave-catching Cain?

I’m sorry. Please forgive my earlier attempt at commenting on Ryan’s budget proposal and familial oil subsidies. I was unaware that this forum was for: 1) Democratic party mantra only, or 2) female commentator only. Politically I am aligned with the Democratic principles, but clearly see that the party members have abandoned their platform whenever they are in power. My comments simply pointed out that both parties have taken the American taxpayers for a ride, and will continue to do so unless we demand change – from both. If that was off-topic, I fail to see it. If #1 or #2, above, are correct then please unsubscribe me. Thank you.

    • Welcome Michaelt,

This is not a Democratic party mantra only and certainly not a female commentator only. You’re welcome to express your views as long as it’s respectful.

Look back over the past 50 or 60 years and witness the erosion of capital from the middle class to the upper class. Over that same time they have steadily consolidated their hold over our entire political system, Republicans and Democrats alike. The erosion has been steady and undaunted, despite who wins elections. That is their power. Look past the parties, because both are bought and sold before their members ever set foot in Washington and belly up to the taxpayers’ funded trough. This must stop. Not because it is right or because it’s the democratic thing to do. It must stop because if it doesn’t, the end result if one of two options. When the middle class has been eradicated, the remaining political options are revolution or military coup. Does any true American really want to deal with either of those harsh realities. Realities that will likely spell the end of this great experiment in democracy. Don’t let them, Democrat or Republican, take it away from us. Hold them ALL accountable for their failure to protect our future. Demand accountability and DO NOT accept the party blame game. Good luck and God bless us all.

Hi Michael. You’ve made some valid points about what the two party system has done to America. What are the solutions/alternatives, besides holding them accountable? Certainly congress is made up of both parties, and we definitely want to hold THEM ALL accountable. I’m looking at what is happening NOW, today, and the plans for gutting our social safety network by the GOP and the soundbite distractions of Weinergate used to manipulate the masses and take our eyes off Medicare/Social security momentum the Dems had prior to the hyped-up scandal.

So yes, we want to hold them All accountable, as well as ourselves by keeping the focus on who, what, how, when, why, we are being served by these elected officials.

When I read Ryan’s excuse, the first thing came to my mind was…yeah right! Those folks must think that people are stupid! They really believe that people are stupid and they can tell them anything and they’ll believe it. What’s so sad about it, there is a certain segment of our population who will believe anything they tell them.

I leave next week on my trip and won’t be back until sometime in August. I’m changing my blog over because I’m tired of the hassles with blogger when I get back. Anyway, I’ll miss you ladies.

Are folks using their wives as a cover to transfer money? It’s something shady going on up on Capitol Hill. Too much money has came up missing and unaccountable for and explanations for it nonexistent. And too many folks up on Capitol Hill that want to give oil companies billions in subsidies while robbing the poor and disadvantage. Thomas and Virginia scandal suddenly disappeared out of the spotlight and replaced with Wiener’s wiener. I wonder if Virginia is a cover too. Something awful fishy is going on.

    • Anthony Weiner was putting the pressure on Clarence & Virginia’s shenanigans. Can you spell corruption? The right wing controlled Media continued to focus on Weiner and get us to take our eyes off the ball. Something smells & it stinks to high heaven!

    • Ametia says:

Yes, Granny & SG2, something fishy is going on up on CAPITOL HILL. Clarence Thomas has no business sitting on the supreme court bendh. And he’s not the only one who’s funneling monies to relatives, off shore accounts, etc. Folks had better wake up and smell the coffee.

Look at the person who is doing the most, and getting bashed the most for doing what he can do. PBO. Is he supposed to be the FALL GUY? I don’t think so. Paul Ryan’s & the GOP’s plan is extreemly radical, and is bascially a ponsi scheme, no different than Maddoff’s swindling, and that horrid bank bailout.

  6. GrannyStandingforTruth says:

So, let me get this straight. That little weasel Paul Ryan wants to steal money from grandma and grandpa, students, and disabled folks , so that he can enhance his families’s oil fortunes. That little sneaky critter wants to snatch the safety net from under the disadvantage so that his family can get richer. He done lost his dat gone mind! The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy.

    • That’s some wickedness, Granny! And listen to the piss poor excuse he gives….

Ryan’s office says the congressman wasn’t thinking about himself or the oil companies that lease his land when he drafted the budget blueprint that extended the energy tax breaks. “These are properties that Congressman Ryan married into,” spokesman Kevin Seifert said. “It’s not something he has a lot of control over.

Lying liars and the lies they tell!

    • Ametia says:

Hi Granny, You’ve got it straight. The weasel has created a scheme to funnel money to oil companies that his family have interests in. It’s reverse ROBIN HOOD: ROB FROM THE POOR & GIVE TO THE RICH.

    • Ametia says:

Ryan & the GOP have infiiltrated the very fabric of America democracy, and proceeded to dismantle, destroy and control the masses. The GOP governors have carried out their marching orders and are systematically creating laws to SUPPRESS VOTES.

They’re not going to change their sociopathic need for power, and so will depress/suppress American voters. It’s the only way they now think they can gain and remain in power.
