Republican Doug Lamborn Likens Associations With President Obama To “TAR BABY”

The racists’ hits just keep on coming. Doug Lamborn’s stuck to a “Tar Baby”  And he “can’t get away.”  He’s one of the elected officials who led the Opposition to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and wanted to GUT funding for NPR.  Wonder if NPR will report this latest racist rant by the GOP.

I guess Doug and nem aren’t pleased with the debt-ceiling outcome, huh?

And as to not wanting to get stuck to Tar Baby; too late, Lamborn.  YOU.ARE. STUCK.

THE STORY:

In one tale, Br’er Fox constructs a doll out of a lump of tar and dresses it with some clothes. When Br’er Rabbit comes along he addresses the tar “baby” amiably, but receives no response. Br’er Rabbit becomes offended by what he perceives as the Tar Baby’s lack of manners, punches it, and in doing so becomes stuck. The more Br’er Rabbit punches and kicks the tar “baby” out of rage, the worse he gets stuck. Now that Br’er Rabbit is stuck, Br’er Fox ponders how to dispose of him. The helpless, but cunning, Br’er Rabbit pleads, “but do please, Brer Fox, don’t fling me in dat brier-patch,” prompting Fox to do exactly that. As rabbits are at home in thickets, the resourceful Br’er Rabbit escapes. Using the phrases “but do please, Brer Fox, don’t fling me in dat brier-patch” and “tar baby” to refer to the idea of “a problem that gets worse the more one struggles against it” became part of the wider culture of the United States in the mid-20th century. The story was originally published in Harper’s Weekly by Robert Roosevelt; years later Joel Chandler Harris wrote of the tar baby in his Uncle Remus stories. A similar tale from African folklore in West Africa has the trickster Anansi in the role of Br’er Rabbit.

The Teabaggers are crazy mad, and President Obama is cool, calm, and collected, as congress fuddled their way through the debt-ceiling fiasco, manufactured by the GOPbaggers.

Let’s see President Obama’s got a least one more year left in the first term in office.  When are these fools going to call him an outright nigger?  We’re getting close folks.

CONTACT REP DOUG LAMBORN AND TELL HIM THIS KIND OF DOG WHISTLING RACIAL RHETORIC IS UNACCEPTABLE!

Amazing how President Obama still has the willpower to “compromise” the very same people who don’t even consider him to be a legitimate person, much less president.

    • Ametia says:

Yes; and it is this glaring truth shines on the petty, small-minded bigots, with every deliberate move PBO makes. He’s really getting it from all sides. The right can’t deal with the angst of their own bigotry and neither can the left, and let’s not forget the negroes, who for decades thought they ruled all things black with the drop of a few hip line.

Folks just aren’t used to civilized, thought-provoking, intelligence from a Black President.

  2. Marion Young quoted: The disrespect to POTUS on the House floor and in meetings with the GOP Congress has never been seen before in this nation. In subtle and overt ways, these actions by our leaders of this nation send a coded signal to the racists that no AA in this nation, especially an AA POTUS, is to be respected or treated equal. These are the methods used by whites during slavery and Jim Crow. They no longer work today as the nation and world look on in shock and disbelief that this disease never the left this nation but was allowed to fester and spread. I commend USAToday for calling this disease out. We cannot fix a problem if we don’t acknowledge what it is.

  3. GOP’s disrespect of Obama goes beyond debt fight

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/forum/2011-08-02-gop-disrespect-obama-debt_n.htm

What should be clear to the whole world watching the debt-ceiling battle is that the Republicans are far more intent on taking the president’s scalp than balancing the nation’s books. They had ample opportunities to do the latter during the eight years of George W. Bush.

Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the minority leader with the greatest cunning and sharpest knife, signaled his party’s true purpose last year when he proclaimed: “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” It was not to undo the health care legislation Obama signed into law, or to block another debt limit increase. Even then, two years out from the next presidential election, the Alabama-born senator said the top goal of GOP lawmakers to oust Obama.

    It’s personal

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., has been especially relentless in the debt-ceiling fight. He attacked this first African-American president with a palpable disrespect not only for Obama personally, but also for his esteemed office.

Following what Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., called Cantor’s “childish” display during a meeting with Obama, the House majority leader complained that the president had cut short the meeting and stormed out of the room. “He shoved back and said, ‘I’ll see you tomorrow’ and walked out,” Cantor snidely told reporters— as though the president needs his permission to end a White House gathering.

That encounter might have reminded Obama of the open letter Frederick Douglass, a runaway slave and abolitionist who became one of this nation’s first black diplomats, wrote to his slave master.

It would be “a privilege” to show you “how mankind ought to treat each other,” Douglass told the man who had badly mistreated him. “I am your fellow man, but not your slave.”

Douglass’ words might have prompted another reflection when, during a critical point in the debt negotiations, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, contemptuously waited more than half a day to return a call from the president.

    Racism, if subtle

Or, Obama might have heard Douglass’ words ringing in his ears after acting House Speaker Steve LaTourette of Ohio had to warn his GOP colleagues during a heated debt-reduction debate on the House floor to stop making disparaging remarks about Obama.

This total lack of respect is downright contemptible — if not unpatriotic. Such contempt, I’m convinced, is rooted in something other than political differences. Today, you might not see the overt actions of racist southern governors like Ross Barnett or George Wallace in the 1960s. But the presence of Jim Crow, Jr. — a more subtle form of racism — is there.

    • There is nothing subtle about the GOP’s racism. Their hoods are off & they don’t give damn. It’s… “how dare that nigga think he’s President and we gon teach him a lesson”!

    • Ametia says:

As per usual, the comment section is loaded with ignorance. It’s not his race; it’s his “socialist policy” bullshit. Right… the noose around the effigy, foodstamps with PBO’s face on it, monkeys, apes, gorrilas, being called boy, a dick, a tar baby, you lie! aren’t one bit racists. Ok, got it.

  5. Doug Lamborn, Colorado Congressman, Refers To Obama Dealings As Being Stuck To A ‘Tar Baby’ (LATEST UPDATES)

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/01/doug-lamborn-colorado-con_n_915382.html#comments

    UPDATE:

Late Monday, Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO) sent a personal letter to President Barack Obama apologizing for his use of the phrase “tar baby,” a controversial term that has a derogatory connotation towards African-Americans. According to Lamborn’s website, he claims that he was attempting to verbalize his opinion that the President’s economic policies “have created a quagmire for the nation and are responsible for the dismal economic conditions our country faces.” Lamborn goes on to say that he “regrets that he chose the phrase “tar baby,” rather than the word “quagmire.”

In a statement to The Denver Post, Lamborn had this to say:

I absolutely intended no offense, and if this is at all on his radar screen, I am sure that he will not take offense and he’ll be happy to accept my apology because he is a man of character.

Lamborn may have apologized to the President, but the fallout from making such a controversial statement may take longer to damage control. Reaction to Lamborn’s statement was widespread.

    • …Like he didn’t know what the phrase meant? I’m so damn tired of these cowards pretending they had no idea such words or phrases are considered offensive.

      • Ametia says:

Lamborn knew exactly what he was saying, why he said it, when he said and how he said the words TAR BABY. The hate and disdain for President Obama permeates their cells, they can’t contain it! Folks like Lamborn will never, ever represent me, no matter how much other folks elect this trash into office. Just vile and disgusting…

Sorry Chicas, sometimes vows not to use really nasty swears must be broken.

    • Ametia says:

lOL Hi AG. I know how you feel. I heard you’re the fax queen, so I know you laid out your case to this rat bastard with some flair!

  8. I wish I could say I am surprised by this, but I am not. They have completely lost their mind and sense of self-worth. I ‘m scared, you might be right, N***er is coming, soon. I often sit and listen to them dance around with different words, phrases and comparisons like this and I say to myself, just go ahead and say what you really mean. Stop dancing around the bush.

    • No reason to be scared, Grand Central. Those racists are the ones who should be afraid—should be very afraid. If we act now, and if we act hard, I think we might be able to strike some fear in them. Matter of fact, they are already afraid of losing their way of life. They want their country back, but ‘them’ days are going fast.

As Ametia and Southerngirl2 said downthread, they (the racists, the right wing Republicans, and the looney lefties who are all jealous of this President) are shaking in their boots. They just don’t know how to deal with this brilliant Black man—Barack Hussein Obama—who dared to become President of these United States of America.
They hate everything he stands for. They hate that he is a mixed breed man, conceived out of an act of Black and White love. They hate that he is married to his beautiful Black “babies mama” and lives with her and their two beautiful daughters in the White House . And more than anything else, they hate his superior intelligence, his irresistible charisma, his amazing good looks, and his unquestionable compassion for humanity.

I’d say we have the upper hand on those racists. Let’s go get them. I don’t think they realize what they’ve started.

Hi Grand_Central. Here we are in 2011 and still doing combat with the racist nad modern dady KKK, only they are wearing 3 piece Brooks Brothers suits. Keep the faith and help keep calling them out.

    • Hi Grand Central!

I am sure that he will not take offense and he’ll be happy to accept my apology because he is a man of character.

Can you believe this ish? He insults with the most demoralizing phrase and then hides behind…he’s a man of character he’ll accept my apology! What a POS!

  9. Call Doug Lamborn 202-225-4422 & express your outrage about his “tar baby” reference.

  10. eurobrat says:

I hope the President realizes that no matter how much he tries to compromise with the teabaggers, they will always hate him….their hatred is not based on any rational reason, it’s based on the color of his skin.

    • Welcome to 3 Chics, Eurobrat! You’re so right. Hate is very powerful and nothing he does will ever change their minds. We have to move on and let them stew in their hate. His election broke their brain.

    • Ametia says:

Hellow eruobrat, and welcome to 3 Chics. Yes; the racist baggers cannot hide their contempt and insecurities ove the Black President. We need to call them out and shine the light on them at every turn, f only to EXPOSE them, and let them know we are not accepting it.

    • Ametia says:

    • You’re right on one thing, eurobrat. Hate is strong, but love is even stronger. Remember what President Obama said in a recent TV interview? “They won’t hate me if they know me.”

Give them some time to get to know him. I’d say another four to five years, eh? They’ll come around.;)

  11. I know President Obama is a “sticks and stones may break my bones . . .” kind of guy, but I believe We The People have got to draw the line on these Right/Left Wing fanatics who have the unmitigated gall to publicly make these kinds of racist statements out in the open. Ametia, I’m glad you & the rest of the 3chickspolitico gang are joining others in the blogosphere to call these racists out. I mean, only a couple of weeks ago, a TV pundit calls the President “a dick” — on national cable TV; a week or so later a well known columnist writes that our world renown President is a “weak” leader whom “no one loves.” Now, we have a U.S. Congressman—an elected public servant—ranting in a town hall meeting that he doesn’t want to be associated with a sticky “Tar Baby.”

As you have said, where does it all end? How soon will they be calling him ni**er right out there in a public arena? If we don’t call those racists out now, they may do just that very soon. We should nip this one in the bud and let the racists know what’s waiting for them if they do decide to go there. Our President deserves better.

    • Hi NCW!

Joe Wilson set the stage for this kind of disrespect. I agree with you NCW about the President being a sticks and stone guy. He knew what he’d be up against with these people. The Left is just as wicked. Did you hear about the racist cartoon Daily Kos had front paged over the weekend? Totally disgusting! It’s so disheartening and depressing! I thought we had moved further along in race relations than this. Boy was I mistaken. But like you stated, we cannot allow them to get away with it. We must call it out now before it escalates to the N word. Then it’ll be on & poppin…

      • You got that right, SG2: “Then it’ll be on & poppin…” if those racists call him the N word out in the open. Oh, I remember Joe Wilson. I’m gonna wait on karma to get his a** since we (as a country) let him get away with that disrespectful sh*t–insulting our President in the Halls of Congress and on national TV.

But you know what, the other night I had an epiphany. I realized that this manufactured debt ceiling crisis was the Republican’s (and other racists) Hail Mary, and it will backfire miserably. I mean they must be in an utter state of panic over the “Ni**er in the White House to actually attempt to destroy the whole country in a failed effort to get him out of office. They’ve got nothing else, short of attempting to physically take him out (God forbid).

But I’m a lady of biblical faith, and I’m believing that Barack Hussein Obama was meant to be here in this country and in this world at this time in history: To do the things that he is getting done, in a fashion that he has chosen to do things. You’ve gotta admit that in spite of his apparent “weakness,” he’s shed some serious light on a lot of sh*t that would never have come out in the open. And as the old folks say: He ain’t finished yet!

        • Speak on it, NCW! I was discussing the same thing with a friend last night. I believe it was meant to be without a doubt. They are in a panic. To hold America hostage shows their desperation. They’re shaking in their boots and doing everything within their power to hold on to their way of life. You can see the fear on Mitch McConnell’s face! But I never imagined they’d try to take down the country! Every last one of them should be charged with Treason. If the CBC or any other POC did this, they’d be brought up on charges in a snap!

    • Ametia says:

Hi NCW. Indeed WE THE PEOPLE do need to draw the line with these racist fools. The hoods have come off, and the dogwhislting has become a loud trumpet. The racist are given a platform to announce their disregard, disrpect and all out hatred for our president. We know Lamborn is telling folks not to support the BLACK PRESIDENT, not to agree with or say anything positive about himor his administrations accomplishments.

Lamborn has no shame, because he knows he’ll be given a platform to spew this racial ugliness. We will continue to demand accountability of these ignorant fools.

Frank Schaeffer- Obama Is Now and Will Be a Great President

    http://mirroronamerica.blogspot.com/2011/04/frank-schaeffer-obama-is-now-and-will.html

The “disappointed” left says president Obama sold out. The racist-laced Medicaid-mugging, billionaire-codling right staggers under the weight of terminal “birther” mythology (now trumpeted by moron-come-lately Donald Trump). Meanwhile president Obama continues to bide his time and looks down the road to the post-2012 reality when his patience with an impatient country, his thoughtfulness in the context of a sound-bite-entertain-ourselves-to-death era of short attention spans and historical amnesia will be vindicated.

If you think that president Obama played the Republicans in the last lame duck congress like a violin just wait until after 2012 when the rotten Tea Party will be about as relevant as 1930s hate monger radio priest: Charles Coughlin (the “father” of hate radio), is today.

President Obama has met the vile far right (and religious right lynch mob) and also met the disappointment of the shrill impatient left with a calm smile and good humor. He’s even reached out to what remains of the Republican Party languishing hock deep in the quagmire of their own frightened and wholly imagined paranoid “victim” status. President Obama has also played chicken with each new crisis and — invariably — pulled last moment hair raising victory from what critics said would be defeat…

  13. http://www.thomhartmann.com/blog/2009/08/transcript-thom-asks-frank-schaeffer-why-are-conservatives-rampaging-town-hall-meetings

Frank Schaeffer: Yes, the election of Obama just broke their brains. They can’t see it. They’ve gone off. Look, you can disagree with Dick Armey or Newt Gingrich on economics, you can disagree about a lot of things, but the sort of thing they’re saying now, for instance that Judge Sotomayor is a racist or that Obama wants healthcare to turn into a euthanasia program. Or lending their good name to the kind of insanity that Sarah Palin is parroting. Which, you know, Dick Armey or Newt Gingrich, 20 years ago, never would have talked that way, they weren’t insane. You might have disagreed with them, but they weren’t crazy.
