Thought we’d give John McCain some love today, you know the 2008 Republican pesidential candidate who lost the election to Barack Obama. Since we’ve covered the onslaught of various Democratic surrogates and Senators today, let’s take a look at where John McCain stands on Mitt Romney and his tax returns.
Lord knows the Sunday talk have given Senator John McCain an UNLIMITED platform since 2008, to weigh in on a PLETHORA of issues affecting our country.

Honestly, I didn’t think anyone could be WORSE or more DANGEROUS as Vice President of these United States than Sarah Palin. Mitt, I think you’re FULL OF WIN on this assumption.

What John McCain Didn’t Say when Defending Mitt Romney over Taxes (VIDEO)
When questioned by CNN’s Anderson Cooper about Harry Reid’s assertion that Mitt Romney has not paid taxes in 10 years, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) responded with this:
1.McCain thinks (ironically, without supporting evidence) that Harry Reid occasionally displays erratic behavior.
2.McCain thinks Harry Reid might have gone over the line by positing an accusation without proof.
3.McCain thinks Harry Reid should come forward with his evidence.
During the 2008 Republican veepstakes, John McCain received twenty-three (23) years of Mitt Romney’s tax returns, so he is privy to lots of salient details. So here’s what McCain did not say:
1.Not once during the interview with Anderson Cooper did McCain ever call Harry Reid a liar.
2.Not once did McCain say “hey, I saw those returns, and I can tell you that Mitt did pay taxes every year.”
3.Not once did McCain even suggest that “Reid was making things up.”
4.He never even offered a McCain-style “where do they come up with this crap!”
Interesting, is it not? Stew for thought.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) defended Mitt Romney from Democratic speculation that he passed on him as a 2008 running mate after reviewing his tax returns, saying Sarah Palin was simply the better choice at the time.
McCain called the tax claims “outrageous” and “disgraceful” in an interview with Politico Tuesday. He said he chose Palin “because we thought that Sarah Palin was the better candidate.”
“Why did we not take [Tim] Pawlenty, why did we not take any of the other 10 other people,” McCain said. “Why didn’t I? Because we had a better candidate, the same way with all the others. … Come on, why? That’s a stupid question.”
Former McCain adviser Steve Schmidt told the Huffington Post this week that the campaign was primarily concerned Romney’s vast wealth would make the ticket difficult to sell to average Americans, but didn’t believe Romney’s taxes were a liability. Schmidt also said he never personally saw 23 years of tax returns Romney provided to McCain during the vetting process.

Romney’s Tax Returns Could Cost Him the Election

In the spring of 2008, President Obama was facing the most difficult challenge of his campaign — his association with Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Wright, the pastor at Obama’s local church and the man who presided over his wedding to Michelle, was increasingly seen as a polarizing political figure. As part of an effort to diffuse the situation, he gave an historic speech at the Constitution Center in Philadelphia that served to distance himself from Wright, as well as elevate the conversation beyond political attack ads. Obama’s approach was perfectly executed — attack the allegations head on, and focus the conversation on another topic of greater importance.
Although different in substance, Romney faces a similar situation today. For Obama, there were questions about his views with regards to race and religion. Today, as Romney refuses to release more than two years of tax returns, he gives his opposition the opportunity to remind voters of some of his shortcomings. First, his “flip flopping” nature (is he hiding something or not?); and, second, the idea that he is rich, out of touch and just “not like me” (scores of bank accounts across Switzerland, the Cayman Islands and beyond isn’t exactly common among the middle class).

McCain has probably dug himself a bunker up on his ranch here & is hiding out till all this is over. He saw those tax returns & he will not want to be asked about them. He can grump it off if accosted by some reporter but not when he is sitting on some talk show. I predict he will make himself as scarce as possible for the near future.
After all, he will have to defend his own Senate seat in less than two years. He ain’t that popular here anymore. He will not want to tie himself to the Mittster in any way if he can possibly avoid it.

I’m good. Been real busy with OFA & working for local candidates here plus it is summer so I have also been helping out with the grandkiddos. My DIL got a new job a few months ago which is so good but she has been getting extra training so we took the children to give her a break because our son is working out of state right now.
