President Obama Speaks In San Antonio & Austin Texas

President Obama Visits the Lone Star State

President Obama is expected to land in Texas around 11:30 this morning. The President will speak at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio at 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Actress Eva Longoria, a national co-chair for the President’s re-election committee, will be hosting the event.

San Antonio is preparing for the visit with heightened security and barricades are set up around the Convention Center. The motorcade route by which the President will travel through downtown San Antonio is unknown.

The President will then attend a private event at the home of attorney Mikal Watts in San Antonio’s Dominion neighborhood. Tickets are believed to have cost over $35,000 per person.

President Obama will fly to Austin this evening, where he will speak at 5:45 p.m. CT/ 6:45 p.m. EDT at the Austin Music Hall.

The event is open to the public, with tickets starting at $250. Guests may purchase a special ticket to take a photo with the President as well.

It’s expected that President Obama could raise $3 to 4 million over Tuesday’s visit.
