    Glen Doherty, 42, killed in U.S. Consulate attack in Benghazi

    From whitewater rafting on the Colorado River to sniper duty as a Navy SEAL during the capture of Tikrit, Glen Anthony Doherty always sought out action.

    “Glen Doherty never shied from ad­ven­ture,” President Obama said at the arrival ceremony Friday at Joint Base Andrews. Doherty was assigned to a State Department security detail.
    “His fearlessness took many forms throughout his life but was always at his core,” his brother Greg Doherty said in a statement.

    Doherty, 42, was the second of three children who grew up in a close-knit family in Winchester, Mass. He attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona but left to become a “ski bum” at Snowbird, Utah, his brother said. He also worked as a whitewater rafting guide on the Colorado River.

    Sean Smith, 34, killed in U.S. Consulate attack in Benghazi

    Whether as a State Department information management officer, an Air Force technician or an online gamer, Sean Patrick Smith was much admired as a wiz on computers.

    The 34-year-old Smith, who had worked at the State Department for 10 years, was in Libya on a temporary assignment when he was killed in the attack in Benghazi.

    Smith, a native of San Diego, enlisted in the Air Force in 1995 at age 17. He served six years as a ground radio maintenance specialist, including a deployment to Oman, before leaving the service in 2002 as a staff sergeant, according to Air Force records. Smith was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.

      My heart aches for all who have lost,wives,children,parents,friends and those that do not know you,personally only greatfully,always knowing they were on the job making us safer,and much more informed about people who we know very little about.It is so unfortunate there are so few that give so much and get even less respect from the americans you’ve worked for.May God Bless Your Family’s.I’m so sorry for your loss.
