Romney’s Ohio Problem
Early voting starts today in Ohio. Molly Ball collects evidence that Romney may be doomed in the state, even in the parts of Ohio where he should be crushing Obama:
“I think Obama’s more for the regular working class people, and Romney’s for the big business and the well-to-do,” said Eric Burkhead, the road and cemetery superintendent for Kirkwood Township, working on a truck in the gravel driveway of the local garage. The 66-year-old didn’t like what he saw happening with coal and wasn’t wild about Obamacare, but he planned to vote for Obama.
I heard it over and over again from Ohioans — the idea that Romney stands for the wealthy and not for them. Obama’s depiction of his rival as an out-of-touch rich guy, which has gotten no little assistance from Romney himself, has made a deep and effective impression with these self-consciously working-class voters.

Obama’s Fair-Weather Foes
Chrystia Freeland has a new article on the anti-Obama super rich. In response, Felix Salmon mulls the finance industry’s relationship with the president:
During the 2008 election, Obama received significantly more Wall Street money than McCain, for one very good reason: Wall Street trusted him and his egghead technocrat advisers to do whatever was necessary to prevent their world from imploding. And that’s exactly what they did. Geithner, Bernanke, Summers, and the rest of the Obama economic team threw everything they could at the markets: they were the liquidity provider of last resort, they took that role seriously, and they did exactly what was necessary to save the US — and, for that matter, the global — financial system. McCain, by contrast, never came across as being particularly competent on that front, treating the financial crisis more as an excuse for political stunts than as a serious existential threat.
After 2009, however, Wall Street felt that the crisis was over.
Yes, unemployment was still unacceptably high, growth was unacceptably low, and the real economy was still struggling. But never mind that: Wall Street profits were enormous, corporate profits were hitting record highs, and bonus season was just around the corner. America’s financiers no longer needed Washington to save them from ruin; now all they wanted was for Washington to get out of the way, and to let them prosecute their profit-making strategies as aggressively as they wanted. And they were in no mood for gentle reminders from Washington that if it wasn’t for the public sector they’d all have been wiped out.

Spot on Andy S.! They don’t wanna hear nothin’ bout’ no middle class= 47% freeloaders. They’ve got theirs, TOO DAMN BAD FOR THE SERFS!
Go PBO with your small donors
As Go White Working-Class Women …
Ron Brownstein goes through the polling data and discovers a key reason Obama is performing well in swing states, actually the key reason. It began with the contraception debate when the GOP came off as caring more about the Vatican than struggling working class women for whom birth control really is a medical necessity that they appreciate being insured. It continued through the Akin mess and the 47 percent moment. It’s hard to see how this mega-rich Wall Streeter can relate to struggling women in this economy. And the Obama ads in the swing states have focused on this demographic relentlessly:
Among [working-class white] women, the swing-state-level polls show Obama drawing 46 percent in Michigan, 48 percent in Florida, 49 percent in Nevada, 50 percent in New Hampshire and Wisconsin, 51 percent in Pennsylvania, and 52 percent in Ohio and Iowa. Obama still lags badly among them only in North Carolina and Virginia, where many blue-collar whites are also evangelical Christians, and to a lesser extent Colorado …
Both campaigns agree the Democratic ads have damaged Romney much more with blue-collar women than blue-collar men. But both sides also agree that these women are the least stable component of Obama’s emerging coalition. “I still say the noncollege white women are the moving piece of the electorate,” Garin said. “But Romney is an imperfect vessel for them to say the least.”

Rant Of The Day
“The wealthy buyers are afraid that they can’t win this election with big bucks alone. They are no longer sure that they can lead the public by the nose, under Karl Rove’s expertise and with the hundreds of millions available from the Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson and the media empire of Rupert Murdoch.
None of their power can stop the clip of Romney talking about the 47% of Americans he supposedly knows all about and doesn’t care much for. Big Mitt cut his own throat by talking the way he really thinks. The damning comments were made at a private show for fat cats who were tired of being soaked, or imagining they were. It’s a safe bet that Romney was told he had to step up and defend them. Americans could see the bare flesh of Romney’s crooked hand,” – Stanley Crouch,

President Obama recorded a video to explain how he plans to continue building an America where people with disabilities are treated equally, with dignity and respect.
Watch this video highlighting the progress we’ve made, and then join People with Disabilities for Obama to help fight for four more years of progress:
Little Eddie Munster Ryan has been caught on tape saying that 30% of Americans are ‘ takers’ that don’t believe in the American Dream. Not quite as large as Willard’s 47%, but still …..
PAUL RYAN: “Today, 70 percent of Americans get more benefits from the federal government in dollar value than they pay back in taxes,” Ryan said. “So you could argue that we’re already past that [moral] tipping point. The good news is survey after survey, poll after poll, still shows that we are a center-right 70-30 country. Seventy percent of Americans want the American dream. They believe in the American idea. Only 30 percent want their welfare state. What that tells us is at least half of those people who are currently in that category are there not of their wish or their will.”
The other half, by implication, are there because they want to be. For Romney, there’s nothing that can be done about those types of people. “My job is not to worry about those people,” Romney said in the full clip of the fundraiser, obtained by Mother Jones. . “I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

Turnout for first day of early voting nearly double that of 2008
The first day of early voting in Lucas County is over, and the turnout was nearly twice that of the first day of early voting in 2008.
According to Meghan Gallagher, director of the Lucas County Board of Elections, 928 people voted today at the Early Vote Center, 1500 N. Superior St.
The compares with 500 on the first day of early voting four years ago, the first presidential election in which Ohio had in-person absentee voting for anyone who wanted to vote early.
It was an overwhelmingly Democratic day. Of the 928 voters, 696 were Democrats, 40 were Republicans, and the rest, 192, were members of other parties or were not affiliated with a party. There was a similar balance in favor of Democrats on the first day of early voting in 2008, when President Obama won in Lucas County and Ohio.
Early voting continues every weekday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Oct. 22 when the Early Vote Center will remain open until 7 p.m. on weekdays until Nov. 1. The exceptions are Oct. 8 when the vote center is closed and Oct. 9 when it stays open to 9 p.m. Early voting ends at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2. So far, no weekend voting hours have been scheduled.
The elections board had at least one mix-up during the day. About 8:30 a.m. a voter from Maumee Precinct 6 mistakenly was given a voting card for the 9th Congressional District when the precinct is in the 5th Congressional District. Ms. Gallagher said the pollworker error was brought to their attention after the woman already voted so she could not be allowed to vote again.
Voters leaving the vote center – the site of the former Riverside Hospital in North Toledo – said the process went smoothly despite moderately long lines.
Jeff Stephens, 64, of Whitehouse, said “just wanted to get my vote in.”
“Anything can happen between now and Election Day and I didn’t want to miss voting if I get run over by a Greyhound bus or something,” Mr.Stephens said.

A Republican candidate for Congress says his Facebook post featuring a photo of his gun and a “Welcome to Tennessee” message for Barack Obama was in no way meant as a threat to the president.
“Good Lord, no,” Brad Staats told The Tennessean in a telephone interview on Monday. “Absolutely not. I’m not one of those that would ever threaten the president. He’s probably got enough of his own stuff to worry about without me.”

Obama ‘Threat’ Sign Stirs Controversy In Georgia
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/02/obama-threat-sign-_n_1932764.html#comments
An anti-Obama sign posted next to a busy road in Albany, Georgia suggests the president is a “threat.”
The banner, owned by Richard Thomas, reads: “The seals removed one threat to America, remove the other in November.”
Thomas told WALB he placed the banner outside his business because it “just made the hair on the back of my neck stand up,” but denied that the sign compared Obama to Osama bin Laden.
“The threat is towards the apathy that [Obama] has created in this country by dividing people and the loss of hope,” Thomas said. “Those [Navy SEALs] are putting their life on the line everyday and the least we can do is get out and vote and choose a good leader for them.”
One local told WALB he thinks the sign is “disrespectful.” Thomas maintained that the banner was “not intentionally” unethical.

President Obama holds a 73-21 percent lead over Mitt Romney among Latino voters, a new high-water mark for the president.
The new 52-point margin represents a high watermark for Obama in the weekly tracking poll from Latino Decisions, and is a significant jump from the 65-26 percent advantage he held six weeks ago.
Romney has failed to make inroads despite a push at the GOP convention to highlight Hispanic Republicans, while Latino voters who have tuned in during the period shortly before and since the conventions have mostly gravitated towards Obama.
Obama is polling a higher percentage in the poll than the 67 percent of the Latino vote he won four years ago, when GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) won 31 percent, according to exit poll

Gov. Walker on witness list of two trials
Published: Oct. 2, 2012 at 1:50 PM
MILWAUKEE, Oct. 2 (UPI) — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is on a witness list in the embezzlement trial of a top aide during Walker’s tenure as Milwaukee County Executive, prosecutors said.
Walker is one of 42 prospective witnesses in Timothy D. Russell’s trial on three counts of theft, including the embezzlement of $21,042 from a fund for veterans and their families and alleged thefts from the campaigns of two candidates for the Milwaukee County Board, the Milwaukee, Wis., Journal Sentinel reported Tuesday.
The trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 3, and is the second criminal case in which Walker has been listed as a possible witness that grew from an investigation of Walker’s aides and associates. He is also on the list of witnesses in the case of Kelly Rindfleisch, whose scheduled Oct. 15 trial involves accusations she did campaign work while at her taxpayer-funded county position in Walker’s County Executive office, the newspaper said.

Why the DSCC sometimes loves the Republican base
By Steve Benen
Tue Oct 2, 2012 12:42 PM EDT
At first blush, news about the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee reserving air time in a competitive race may seem routine, but the news out of Indiana yesterday reinforced a larger truth.
The DSCC’s independent expenditure is re-upping its buy in Indiana, with another $439,000 in air time booked from Oct. 2 through Oct. 8, two media tracking sources tell me.
The NRSC’s independent arm followed by reserving fresh time of its own for the same week. It’s a mark of how competitive the race in Indiana is now seen, and in which both sides in the fight between Democrat Joe Donnelly and Republican Richard Mourdock.
Two weeks ago, Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS invested another $1 million in support of Richard Mourdock, which coincided with news that the National Republican Senatorial Campaign was making another ad buy of its own. Now it’s Democrats reserving time in the Hoosier state, and three Democratic super PACs are launching a $1 million ad campaign of their own.

Ohio Democrats rush to the polls
By Laura Conaway
Tue Oct 2, 2012 2:01 PM EDT
They started voting this morning in swing-state Ohio, and guess who was waiting outside when they opened the polls? Above, Democrats in Mahoning County, centered on Youngstown, spent the night as a part of a statewide Democratic push for early voting. With Barack Obama leading in Ohio polls, the Democrats are trying to bank those votes as fast as they can.
Ohio Republicans marked the start of early voting with a Commit to Mitt Early Vote Express tour, which unfolds over the next several weeks. They’ll get reinforcement from Alabama Republicans, who are sending busloads of “Alabama Battleground Patriots” to states including Ohio, North Carolina, Florida and Virginia.
When they start sending reinforcements from hundreds of miles away, it means that you need help, and maybe that they think the help is worth it.

Romney Should Apologize for This

I hope the Romney campaign is proud of themselves. They have people down in Florida calling folks in the Cuban community and saying things like this when they encounter Obama supporters:
RRONGNEY is just the phonetic spelling of the way the caller pronounced ‘Romney.’ I think that it is just shameful that someone from Romney’s campaign would call people and tell them that the president’s mother didn’t love him. And this must be going on a lot.

Round up on Mitt Romney’s TAx-Evading, Tax haven Shenanigans
Mitt Romney has always insisted that his extensive use of offshore tax havens hasn’t allowed him to pay any less in U.S. taxes than he would have had he kept his money in America. But today, the New York Times revealed that Romney did in fact pay less in taxes as a result of complex offshore tactics that helped him attract lucrative foreign investments: http://nyti.ms/UE1nz1
The NYT also published a scathing editorial, “Mr. Romney’s government handout,” slamming Romney’s use of “every loophole and flaw” in the tax code to pay astonishingly low taxes. “What is worse,” writes the Times, “is that Mr. Romney has proposed making this profoundly dysfunctional system even more unfair.” http://nyti.ms/O2OaBf

It’s nice that senior Romney advisers are “chortling with glee” that the Obama administration and the State Department lost four Americans in Benghazi. I guess they have no idea how quickly and badly they will be slapped down if they go too far into trying to politicize their deaths. Take any one of those men’s widows and/or children and cut a 30-second ad of them scolding Romney for trying to become president on the back of their husband and father, and Team Mitt will be reduced to a smoldering pile of rubble.
Consider what they are trying to do. They are trying to make the argument that the man who liberated Libya from decades of tyranny should be voted out of office because of an intelligence failure that caused the deaths of four men. You might as well have run against the president who oversaw D-Day because of the intelligence failure at Pearl Harbor.
So, the Republicans think they can make the president look weak on terrorism because the administration had some scraps of intelligence that weren’t acted on in a timely manner, even after the president has killed Usama bin-Laden and countless of his lieutenants. And they are “jubilant” that they think they can exploit this tragedy for their advantage and turn Barack Obama into a latter-day Jimmy Carter.
They will have the taste slapped out of their mouths. They will get hit so hard they’ll wind up at next Tuesday. If these fools think they’ve found the magic trick that will make Romney president, they are about to get themselves massacred.

This is How a Blow-Out Starts
by BooMan
Mon Oct 1st, 2012 at 10:17:05 PM EST
According to the WMUR Granite State poll, Romney’s campaign in New Hampshire has utterly collapsed. Obama leads with independents 47%-29% and he has a 27% advantage with women. Add that up and Obama leads 52%-37% overall and 54%-39% once you push leaners. It seems almost certain that Obama will top 55% in the state, while Romney will struggle to top 40%. That means we will almost certainly win both House seats in the state. The Democrats have a 12% advantage in motivation, too, which shows that it has been important to hammer home the fact that Romney is going to lose. The New Hampshire GOP has received the message and they no longer give a shit.
This is how a campaign crumbles. Remember, I compared it to arm-wrestling. It can look competitive for a long time, but ultimately one side is stronger and the victory can be sudden and jarring. Pollsters were seeing an enthusiasm gap that favored Republicans all year long, and their likely voter models reflected that. But the enthusiasm gap has been closed, or even reversed in some places. That’s why the GOP has launched this absurd campaign about unskewed polls. They can’t let their troops realize the game is over or the floor will fall out below them. And, in New Hampshire, it already has.

Seeing the unemployed as ‘hobos’
Tue Oct 2, 2012 9:16 AM EDT.
Nevada is not only home to a very competitive U.S. Senate race, it’s also a state that struggled more than most when the Great Recession began in 2007. Though Nevada’s unemployment has improved considerably over the last two years, it’s still 12%.
Given this, plenty of Nevadans are looking for policymakers who care about those hardest hit by the crisis. It also means Sen. Dean Heller (R), running this year for a full term after being appointed to the seat in May 2011, has a “hobo” problem.
At a debate last week with Rep. Shelley Berkley (D), Heller laughed off a question about whether he referred to the unemployed as “hobos,” denying he’d ever used the term. The facts, however, are clear.

Scott Brown slips, lauds Antonin Scalia
By Steve Benen
Tue Oct 2, 2012 8:00 AM EDT.
As his polling advantage evaporates, Sen. Scott Brown (R) is desperately trying to convince Massachusetts voters that his partisanship on Capitol Hill is a mirage, and that he’s actually a moderate independent. As Rep. Barney Frank (D) noted on the show last night, after the latest debate between Brown and Elizabeth Warren, the Republican even went so far as to say he may not vote for Mitch McConnell for majority leader.
But the efforts quickly fell apart when Brown was asked to name his “model Supreme Court justice.”
http://youtu.be/sGvLkMa-RYY
For those who can’t watch clips online, the Republican senator, after a lengthy pause, first named far-right Justice Antonin Scalia. This was no small admission — for all of Scott Brown’s efforts to give the appearance of moderation, here he was, after pausing to reflect on his ideal justice, identifying one of the least moderate justices Americans have seen in a generation.
After months of trying to assure voters he’ll ignore his party’s right-wing inclinations on a host of key issues, Brown endorsed a partisan Supreme Court ideologue who’s eager to do exactly what Brown claims to oppose — including reject privacy and reproductive rights.

Ryan: tax cuts ‘more important than anything’
By Steve Benen
Tue Oct 2, 2012 8:40 AM EDT.
If the Romney-Ryan ticket is elected, their tax plan will invariably meet a fork in the road, presenting the Republican administration with a difficult choice. Romney/Ryan believes they can slash tax rates, increase defense and entitlement spending, and reduce the deficit, all at the same time. When push comes to shove, and they’re forced to deal with the arithmetic, which will be the higher priority: tax cuts or deficit reduction?
Last week, Romney economic adviser Kevin Hassett said, if the figures “don’t add up,” the tax plan “would have a different change in rates” — in other words, a Romney administration would have no choice but to scale back its tax-cutting ambitions. This week, Greg Sargent noted that Paul Ryan told Fox News the opposite.
http://youtu.be/jdZYZIqllCk
In this clip, at around the 2:14 mark, Fox’s Chris Wallace poses a hypothetical. Let’s say there’s a President Romney, the host said, and “the math doesn’t add up.” The question is, “what’s most important” to a Romney-Ryan administration?
http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/
I have to wonder what it is about this 7 term congressman with literally NO legislative accomplishments and an admitted inability to even explain the mystical “tax plan” of his forlorn and crumbling political party that would suggest to anyone with a functioning brain that he is “ready for prime time!”
Aside from the obvious fact that both of these grasping, greedy fools, Romney and Ryan, are setting new standards almost hourly of “campaigning by mendacity,” they have been the least transparent of any political team in memory.
Even that blathering idiot/molester Herman Cain with his outlandishly stupid and unworkable “999” plan makes more sense than the gibberish offered by Romney and Ryan.
And between the two of them, their foreign policy experience consists of a brief trip abroad to INSULT our closest allies, make a public fool of the left over scraps of a dying GOP, and the fact that Paul Ryan saw a couple of great war movies!
America faces incredible challenges at home and around the world and entrusting our country to the “leadership” of two such unprepared and arrogant fools would be a disaster.
And when we already have a true leader already making slow but steady progress, a man who clearly has the ideal temperament for dealing with a variety of difficult issues and ignorant fools like those of the GOP, why change?
If women vote in November, Barack Obama will be re-elected. It’s actually that simple.
By Eclectablog on
It’s called “arithmetic”
A new poll out by Quinnipiac has some remarkable numbers for us this week. They have President Obama ahead of Mitt Romney by 4 points among likely voters. But among women voters?
18 percent.
An 18 point lead among women puts President Barack Obama ahead of Gov. Mitt Romney 49 – 45 percent among likely voters nationwide, and voters expect 54 – 28 percent that the president will win the debates, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.
The president leads 56 – 38 percent among women and 94 – 2 percent among black voters, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. Men back Romney 52 – 42 percent while white voters back the Republican 53 – 42 percent. {…}
“President Barack Obama won only about 43 percent of the white vote in 2008, so his current standing among whites tracks his earlier winning performance,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. “If the president can match or exceed his 2008 showing among whites it will be difficult to impossible for Romney to win.
“It is also very difficult to win an election when you are getting shellacked among women, the group that makes up about half the electorate.”
So, ladies, what’s it going to take to get you to the polls? Because, right now? At this moment? We need you to express yourselves loud and clear. Our country is depending on you.

Poll: Boost From Women Helps Push Obama To 4-Point Lead
Tom Kludt-October 2, 2012, 8:51 AM101
President Barack Obama earns the support of nearly 60 percent of women nationwide while holding a 4-point lead overall, according to a poll from Quinnipiac University released Tuesday.
Although the president has consistently outpaced Romney among women, few polls have shown him hitting the lofty level of support with the key voting bloc that he reached in Tuesday’s poll from Quinnipiac. Women widely prefer Obama to Romney in the poll, 56 percent to 38 percent.
It’s a continuation of a storyline that has spanned much of the general election campaign. Romney, along with many of his fellow Republicans, has been unable to gain traction with the female electorate. Obama and the Democrats, on the other hand, have been quick to highlight GOP policies on contraception in an effort to mobilize women voters — a theme that figured prominently at the party’s national convention last month in Charlotte, N.C.

Women don’t want the GOP in their vaginas or their bedrooms. We have husbands, boyfriends, lovers, partners that help us out with this task, mmmkay!
GOP Focus Group: Undecided Voters Give Obama Benefit Of The Doubt
For Republican strategists wondering why “You didn’t build that” wasn’t enough to push Mitt Romney into a lead while “47 percent” is breaking through, Haley Barbour may have answer for you.
Barbour’s firm Resurgent Republic conducted focus groups of blue collar voters in Ohio and suburban women in Virginia who supported Obama in 2008 but are now undecided. Both are swing demographics that Romney is working to win over in order to flip each state from blue to red.
Their findings? Voters are a lot more willing to believe attacks based around Romney quotes than they are on Obama quotes.
“Whenever we showed direct quotes from President Obama over the last few years, voters consistently say that this is probably taken out of context and they don’t seem to hold that same standard with Governor Romney,” pollster Linda DiVall, who conducted the Virginia focus groups, said in a conference call announcing the findings Monday.

Mitt Romney would allow waivers to children of illegal immigrants
By Allison Sherry
Young illegal immigrants who receive temporary work permits to stay in the United States under an executive order issued by President Barack Obama would not be deported under a Mitt Romney administration, the GOP presidential hopeful told The Denver Post Monday.
“The people who have received the special visa that the president has put in place, which is a two-year visa, should expect that the visa would continue to be valid. I’m not going to take something that they’ve purchased,” Romney said. “Before those visas have expired we will have the full immigration reform plan that I’ve proposed.”

Oprah’s OWN partners with Tyler Perry
By Yvonne Villarreal
October 1, 2012, 10:17 a.m.
OWN announced Monday an exclusive partnership with Tyler Perry, which includes two new scripted series for the network that would premiere in mid-2013.
The deal would make the Oprah Winfrey Network the “singular destination” for any new television series or projects from the multi-hyphenate Hollywood mogul. It also marks OWN’s first foray into original scripted series as the network eases into a groove after a wobbly start.
News of this new venture comes as the network has seen some improvement–with the help of interviews featuring Rihanna and the Kardashian family. It closed its third quarter with double-digit ratings gains year-over-year with women 25-54.

McConnell bearish on Romney’s chances
By Steve Benen
Mon Oct 1, 2012 1:35 PM EDT.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) hasn’t gone out of his way to partner with Mitt Romney. A few weeks ago, when the Republican presidential hopeful condemned the debt-reduction deal McConnell personally negotiated last year, McConnell “grinned widely, if not sincerely,” and told reporters, “You’ll have to ask him why he said what he said.”
With this background in mind, McConnell was asked over the weekend about his caucus’ odds of claiming a majority next year. Joe Sonka noted the senator’s interesting response.
“I’m pretty confident the American people are not going to go back to 2009 and 2010 and let the other side have total control of the government,” McConnell said.

Poll: Voters Don’t Think Romney Cares About Their Problems
Pema Levy – 6:53 AM EDT, Tuesday October 2, 2012
A majority of likely voters believe that Mitt Romney doesn’t care about their needs and problems, according to a new poll released Tuesday from Quinnipiac University. Respondents believe that Obama cares about their needs and problems by a 22-point margin, 60 percent to 38 percent. In contrast, a majority, 51 percent to 46 percent, believe Romney doesn’t care.
The results mirror recent polls showing voters believe Romney’s policies will benefit the rich rather than the middle class — a significant problem for the Republican candidate.
The poll was conducted Sept. 25 – 30 among 1,912 likely voters nationwide and has a margin of error of +/- 2.2 percent.

The ‘October surprise’ happened in September
By Jonathan Capehart
Ah, October and its dreaded October Surprise. Looking for one turns the month into a 31-day house of horrors for political operatives and those of us who like to watch how said operatives react to the unforeseen thing that could knock them or their opponents off stride in the race to the November election.
For the so-called October Surprise to be effective, it has to be, well, a surprise; it has to fit a preexisting narrative about the candidate; it has to penetrate the public’s consciousness and it has to come before Election Day.
But here’s the thing: The October Surprise happened in September.
Yep, I’m talking about the “47 percent” video unearthed by President Jimmy Carter’s grandson and disseminated by Mother Jones. Mitt Romney trashing 47 percent of the country as freeloaders and declaring “my job is is not to worry about those people” was a jaw-dropper. I still can’t believe he said it.
