The fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman took place on the night of February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida, United States. Martin was an unarmed 17-year-old African American. George Zimmerman, a 28-year-old multi-racial Hispanic American,[Note 1] was the neighborhood watch coordinator for the gated community where Martin was temporarily staying and where the shooting took place.[3][4][5]

While in his vehicle on a private errand, Zimmerman noticed Martin walking inside the community. Zimmerman called the Sanford Police Department to report Martin’s behavior as suspicious, because he said that Martin was “cutting in-between houses…walking very leisurely for the [rainy] weather” and “looking at all the houses”.[6][7] According to a police report, “there is no indication that Trayvon Martin was involved in any criminal activity at the time of the encounter”.[8][9][10] While still on the phone with the police dispatcher, Zimmerman left his vehicle. After the phone call concluded, there was a violent encounter between Martin and Zimmerman. The encounter ended with Zimmerman fatally shooting Martin once in the chest at close range.[11][12][13][14][15][16]

    Stripping Romney of His Crown

    by BooMan

My feeling is that Mitt Romney took advantage of the 90 minutes he had on the same stage as the president to elevate his status and to motivate his base. He helped himself more than the president helped himself. But Romney has been losing since the Sun came up the day after the debate. While there has been criticism of the president for lacking energy or not correcting Romney’s lies, the main focus has been on Big Bird and Romney’s lies. Obama committed no gaffes. He told no whoppers. Mitt Romney reminds me of a pageant winner who is stripped of their title for cheating or posing in Playboy. It’s like, “We declared you the winner but your morals are not consistent with the standards the board expects in Miss America.”

      • After hearing the kid’s blood curdling screams on the 9-1-1 call, it wounded my heart. I cried buckets of tears. I can’t even come close to imagining the fear he felt. At one point I couldn’t sleep because I kept hearing those screams. I kept thinking of him all alone in the dark with this monster who had no mercy. I’m telling you, I had to ask God to heal my mind because it was just too much to bear. My soul is so grieved for him. I think about his parents and what they must be going through in dealing with his death. It’s so painful for me, just imagine what they’re feeling. Please lift them up in prayer.

WITHIN HOURS of the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, SANFORD POLICE held a SECRET MEETING with the PROSECUTOR and the shooter’s father, a retired STATE MAGISTRATE. The shooter was then free to go.

At the rally, “From Anger to Answers” (March 31, 2012, Sanford, Florida), the Reverend, Al Sharpton gives a rousing 13 minute speech in which he informs the crowd of thousands of the most recent deviant behavior of the Sanford Police Department. Here is the ENTIRE SPEECH.

Holy smokes! @BarackObama shattered his own record by raising $181M from over 1.8M grassroots donors for the month of September.

St Louis Post-Dispatch: Four years ago, in endorsing Democrat Barack Obama for president, we noted his intellect, his temperament and equanimity under pressure. He was unproven, but we found him to be presidential, in all that that word implies.

In that, we have not been disappointed. This is a serious man. And now he is a proven leader. He has earned a second term.

Mr. Obama sees an America where the common good is as important as the individual good. That is the vision on which the nation was founded. It is the vision that has seen America through its darkest days and illuminated its best days. It is the vision that underlies the president’s greatest achievement, the Affordable Care Act. Twenty years from now, it will be hard to find anyone who remembers being opposed to Obamacare.

He continues to steer the nation through the most perilous economic challenges since the Great Depression. Those who complain that unemployment remains high, or that economic growth is too slow, either do not understand the scope of the catastrophe imposed upon the nation by Wall Street and its enablers, or they are lying about it.

To expect Barack Obama to have repaired, in four years, what took 30 years to undermine, is simply absurd. He might have gotten further had he not been saddled with an opposition party, funded by plutocrats, that sneers at the word compromise. But even if Mr. Obama had had Franklin Roosevelt’s majorities, the economy would still be in peril…..

….. The question for voters is actually very simple. The nation has wrestled with it since its founding: Will this be government for the many or the few?

Choose the many. Choose Barack Obama.

Discussion of possible collusion between some big business execs to stall hiring during President Obama’s tenure have always been laughed off as a conspiracy theory. However, Jack Welch’s angry, livid insistence that employment COULD NOT be improving this much, as well as the lying bully Romney’s smug assurance that hiring would pick up automatically were he coronated should give people pause.

Small businesses do so much of the hiring in this country that they’re most likely leading the recovery–and Dems have targeted small businesses repeatedly for incentives and tax breaks to encourage that hiring, wise decisions which alongside the stimulus have bore fruit. So the BLS numbers are beyond plausible.

I hope that the right’s meltdown and seething anger at the improved economic fortunes of this country remind people that they’re capable of some horrible shit, like nominating an out and out pathological liar. The GOP can’t be reasoned with in its current format, only beaten in November to cause some much-needed change in that “political party.”

Mitt Romney Campaign Euphoria Ends After Jobs Report
By STEVE PEOPLES 10/05/12 05:47 PM ET EDT

The cheering stopped on Mitt Romney’s campaign plane Friday morning.

The day before, aides had whistled and clapped when the Denver control tower commended the Republican presidential nominee’s debate performance. It was a rare moment of exuberance for a campaign that had fallen behind President Barack Obama in a number of polls.

The euphoria ended after the morning report that the nation’s unemployment rate had dropped to 7.8 percent, its lowest level in Obama’s presidency. Romney and his team sat stone-faced and quiet on the flight to Virginia’s coal country, taking in the good news for the country that’s bad news for their political prospects.

The former businessman has staked his candidacy on the notion that the economy needs a turnaround. So, even as Republicans elsewhere conceded progress, Romney described the positive report in negative terms.

“This is not what a real recovery looks like,” he declared in a written statement less than an hour after the job growth numbers came out.
