GOP REFUSED WHITE HOUSE INVITATION TO VIEW MOVIE LINCOLN
The scene portrays the tense conclusion of President Lincoln’s hard fought campaign to ensure passage of the 13th Amendment. We see the representatives voting on the bill and breathe a sigh of relief as Democrats break ranks with their party to cast their votes in favor of the historic piece of legislation.
It’s an encouraging moment to witness. Politicians dropping thick-skulled ideology and reaching across the aisle to vote for what is undeniably right at the epicenter of the most divisive moment in U.S. history.
In this light, there is some strange dramatic irony to be found in Republicans’ refusal to accept an invitation to a White House screening of “Lincoln” extended by President Barack Obama. The screening, attended by the filmmakers as well as Democratic lawmakers, is only a single Polaroid in a photo album filled with the president’s lone figure, extending a welcoming hand into negative space.

And the reason that, in many cases, Congress votes the way they do, or talks the way they talk, or takes positions in negotiations that they take doesn’t have to do with me. It has to do with the imperatives that they feel in terms of their own politics — right? They’re worried about their district. They’re worried about what’s going on back home.

THIS is why the White House press corps is heated: First of all, seeing as how the “jackals” knew that the state of technology in the White House itself during the Bush years was abysmal, (see link at bottom of post) they were under the impression that they, and only they, had the power to shape the narrative of PBO’s time in office through system-wide news “black outs” regarding anything that he accomplished or by turning press briefings into “unserious” events that were used as opportunities to belittle and disrespect PBO.
In other words, they bought into their own bullshit, but that’s what happens when you live in a bubble. Silly bitchez! They failed to realize that the public had grown tired of inaccurate information, opinions masquerading as news, and the unadulterated pettiness and egotism of so-called journalists. When it became increasingly clear that the media was no longer credible as a source of accurate information, many people began fact checking for themselves and used social media platforms as tools to push back and refute what was being dessiminated and duplicated by cable TV, radio shows, print and online media venues.
Meanwhile, PBO and his administration, are all about 21st century technology. Not only did they upgrade White House technology, they took it to another level making photo galleries, videos, livestreams, pods, and apps available and utilized Facebook and Twitter as well to provide us with UNFILTERED information straight from the source. You know they weren’t ready for this man! (CHECK) Despite their efforts at freezing him out and carrying water for the GOP for the past four years, he won re-election to a second term. And, his list of achievements in his first term, alone, will be recorded in the annals of history as “stellar in the face of unprecedented obstruction.” (MATE!)
That’s gotta hurt! So now, the media is stumbling around in unfamiliar territory simply because they’re not too bright and they have absolutely no point of reference about the survival skills, and creativity, that is honed from an early age by people of color in order to exist and succeed in this country. They should have caught a clue from the first four years, but I guess they’re just stupid that way. They’ll probably continue to whine, moan, and manufacture incidents that can be used to vent their “frustration.” But guess what? Liberal Media My Ass: Media Blackout of President Obama’s Rallies

President Barack Obama drew a crowd of 37,000 people today for a speech at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. His speech began around 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time. I checked the major cable news networks to see if they were showing it live. I checked MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, and C-SPAN, as well as the main over-the-air networks CBS, ABC, and NBC. Throughout the speech, I flipped between channels to see which networks were showing the speech. Fox News, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, and NBC did not show ANY of the president’s speech. CNN showed occasional video footage, but without any sound! The only channel that was showing his speech (with audio!) was C-SPAN.
This follows on the heels of a complete media blackout of the president’s October 17 speech in Columbus, Ohio, a speech that drew a crowd of 35,000 people. These two events, the Columbus rally on October 17 and the Los Angeles rally on October 22, were the two largest events that the president has held since the inauguration. The president’s Columbus speech was not shown live on any of the major cable news networks or over-the-air networks. Not even C-SPAN showed it live. It was totally blacked out except for an online feed at BarackObama.com.
The cable news networks will not show a major campaign speech by the President of the United States. But they will show Sarah Palin’s rallies. They will talk about the enthusiasm gap among Democrats. They will talk about how President Obama needs to “connect with voters”, at the very same time that they are blacking out a speech of President Obama trying to connect with voters. This is what I witnessed today.
