The shirt Jamie Foxx wore to Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards displayed the phrase “kNOw Justice” above photos of Trayvon Martin and the children killed in the Newtown, Conn., school shooting. The reference to victims of gun violence was certainly designed to attract attention and start conversation, but probably not of this variety.
Public Shaming has pulled together some of the more disturbing, hateful and downright racist Twitter reactions. There’s “F–k that n—-r with Trayvon Martin shirt on,” “Jamie Foxx arrives at the MTV awards wearing a shirt with dead n—-r” and, sadly, plenty more where that came from. Taken together, the reactions are a reminder that gun violence is far from the only problem we have in America.

Benjamin Crump has formally asked Circuit Judge Debra S. Nelson to make sure the specific amount of the $1 million-plus settlement Trayvon Martin’s parents reached with George Zimmerman’s home owners’ association be kept secret.
Trayvon’s parents, Crump wrote, “in no way wanted their son killed in order to pursue a civil settlement.”
Crump is the attorney for Trayvon’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, and on April 4, Crump filed a copy of the settlement under seal in George Zimmerman’s court case file at the Seminole County Courthouse.
A portion of it was available to the public for a short time the following day, but the total amount and the names of the parties making the settlement payments had been edited out.
On April 4, Seminole County Clerk of Courts Maryanne Morse notified Crump that she intended to unseal it, saying it did not meet the legal standard required of a confidential filing.

A Windermere police officer has been arrested related to a racial profiling investigation and another officer has been suspended without pay pending an internal investigation, Windermere Chief David Ogden said.
Windermere Police Officer Jason Darnell was arrested on felony charges of official misconduct and threatening a public servant during an investigation of race-based profiling, authorities reported this morning.
Police say they have four victims who were stopped in racially biased traffic stops within Windermere town limits. All were minority motorists and all were stopped but never ticketed or arrested, authorities said. They would not give details about the investigation, which is ongoing.
But Ogden and Florida Department of Law Enforcement officials said they suspect there might be other victims who have not come forward.
“I want the residents of Windermere to know this ends practices that are unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” Ogden said.

Yes, ladies and gentleman. This is what you think it is. This is “Mr. Righteous” aka Robert Zimmerman, Jr. in all his glory (and apparently it was quite a glory). This photo is Jr’s mugshot from his January 2009 arrest (arrest report below). FYI, for those who don’t remember, Jr was arrested for a first offense DWI (0.15-0.20%). Jr would like for all of his “friends” to pretend that this was just a small little citation but the truth of the matter is it was much worse. From the looks of it, Jr was having the time of his life when he was arrested. I have to wonder if Jr has a bit of an Adderall problem himself considering the fact that he is listed as weighing 240 pounds,10 pounds shy of George when he was arrested in 2005. There is quite a family resemblance between the Zimmerman boys.
This is why a GAG order needs to be put in force. Fogen and his family can be prevented from discussing this case as well.

In response to your letter commemorating the one-year anniversary of your son’s arrest for the unlawful and heinous murder of 17-year-old Trayvon Benjamin Martin on February 26, 2012, I have only this to say:
First of all, how dare you Mrs. Zimmerman? How dare you trivialize the real-life tragedy that was committed against an innocent young man by your son and has left his family in mourning?
By all accounts, Trayvon Martin was a bright, mild mannered young man who had everything to life for. He was not a thug/coon/goon/punk/asshole or any of the other disparaging things that your son and his defense team have attempted unsuccessfully to portray him as.
On that fateful night last year, Trayvon Martin walked to the Convenience Store to purchase a pack of Skittles and a can of Arizona Iced Tea. Videotape evidence and the items found on his person after he was murdered confirm this fact. He had committed no crime and was bothering no one when your son, George profiled, stalked, harassed, accosted and ultimately murdered him in cold blood.
Your son has a long history of violent, criminal and inappropriate behavior including:
Domestic Battery against his ex-fiance
Assault against a Law Enforcement Officer
Assault against a female patron at a club where he worked as a bouncer
Racially insensitive taunting and harassment against his co-worker of Middle Eastern Descent
And of course, the sexual molestation of his cousin, your own niece which lasted over a period of more than 10 years.
Mrs. Zimmerman, your son George has been very, very sick for a very, very long time. And perhaps if you and your husband, Robert Zimmerman Sr. had gotten him the help that he so obviously needed a long time ago, what happened to Trayvon Martin that night would have never happened and you/we would not be where we are right now.
In short Mrs. Zimmerman, you created this monster. You raised this sociopath. You raised this murderer and try as you may to point fingers and shift the blame, at the end of the day the fault for the son’s current predicament lies with him and in no small part with you yourself.
To any objective, rational observer, the evidence of your son’s guilt is rock solid and irrefutable. And if you really want to help your son, the best thing that you can do is to stop coddling him, stop looking the other way and allow him to be a man and be held accountable for his actions.

In Gladys Zimmerman’s letter, she thanks supporters of her family, criticizes the media, calls the arrest “unfortunate” and says “the justice system failed us.”
Martin’s family posted a statement later Thursday, arguing against the Zimmerman family’s allegations, saying “to allege that the justice system doesn’t work, simply because they are unhappy their son was arrested in the first place, is disingenuous and disrespectful to the very system that is currently affording him every available opportunity to defend himself.”
Zimmerman was arrested April 11, 2012, on second-degree murder charges in the death of Martin, who was shot and killed in Sanford more than a month earlier.
“The arrest of an admitted killer is not a violation of due process, it is due process,” the Martin family continues. “Most will agree that no one has been given greater consideration by the justice system for killing an unarmed child, than George Zimmerman.”
Travyon’s parents have a tremendous amount of courage and grace. They know and we know that George Zimmerman would be BEHIND BARS right now if Trayvon had been a white boy. The END.
