(WESH.COM)The family who was helped by George Zimmerman after a car accident in Sanford canceled their news conference scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
“They were just concerned that their involvement, having anything to do with George Zimmerman, may cause them blow back,” said Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara.
Zimmerman helped pull a husband, wife and two kids from their overturned SUV last Wednesday
O’Mara talked to the media Wednesday afternoon and addressed skeptics who think the rescue was a public relations stunt.
“I will acknowledge it was coincidental four or five days after the verdict, but it was not set up, or staged. Really, do you think we would’ve set up a family of four on the side (of the road), destroying an SUV?” said O’Mara.
“Those who want to believe it’s staged, they can go ahead and believe that. They can believe the earth is flat,” he said.

the police officer that was first at the accident had been posting RWNJ comments in support of Zimmerman. There are also pictures lifted of FB that show that same officer with the crashed family YEARS AGO. I don’t for one second think GZ was there and bloody well know the Earth ain’t flat … that’s RWNJ talk!

Juror B-29, the only minority juror from the George Zimmerman trial, has talked to ABC’s Robin Roberts.
Roberts conducted the interview Thursday morning after “Good Morning America.” The juror, who is identified as Maddy, is shown.
The first portions of the interview will air on “World News With Diane Sawyer” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on WFTV-Channel 9.
More of the exclusive interview will be seen this evening on “Nightline.” The full interview will air Friday on “Good Morning America,” which starts at 7 a.m.
The first juror to talk to the press, B-37, was photographed in shadows when she spoke to CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
Damn I think she is the one who should have remained anonymous because if she had stuck to her guns George could have been retried, but with a 5-1 hung jury I doubt that Corey would have refiled charges anyway.

Sanford businesses suffer post-Zimmerman trial

Several businesses in Sanford said they’ve been suffering ever since the start of the George Zimmerman trial.
They said business hasn’t gotten any better after the verdict.
Theo Hollerbach, owner of the Willow Tree Cafe, said business was growing over the last 12 years the café has been in the same downtown spot.
“For the last eight weeks, six to eight weeks, we’ve seen a major downturn in business,” Hollerbach said.
Hollerbach said sales are down almost 10 percent.
He said customers have been cancelling reservations ever since the start of the Zimmerman trial.
“People are thinking the things that are happening in other areas of our country are happening in our town,” Hollerbach said.
Jeanine Taylor said her art gallery, Jeanine Taylor Folk Art, is also taking a hit.
“Some of my customers have said that they are concerned about coming up,” Taylor said.
It’s like a ghost town,” resident Bobby Brinson said.
Brinson says ever since the shooting first happened, friends of his have refused to come to Sanford.
“They are afraid to walk around downtown Sanford because they don’t want none of that to happen to their son,” Brinson said.
“The part about being afraid to come here is kind of disturbing,” Capt. Jim McAuliffe of the Sanford Police Department said.
Business owners hope that message reaches their customers soon.
Hollerbach said he’s already had to cut employee hours and will be forced to lay off some of his staff if business continues to plummet.
So no one wants to visit their little racist sh!t hole town.

Here’s the question —- who contacted the media to report that Zimmerman pulled people out of an overturned SUV? The people inside? The cops? Or George? Finding the source for that information could be the way of proving whether it’s false or true.

O’Mara knows that any federal jury federal chosen from the Orlando area will be diverse politically and racially so he knows that he can’t blow his dog whistles any more.

That’s the federal district where the crime was committed so it has to be tried in Orlando.
But I hope that Crump files the civil suit so that it can be tried in Miami.

@roderick2012. That’s right. Don West was a federal public defender, so he and O’Mara know that an accused indicted in the federal system seldom goes to trial. They plea to save themselves from the needle or very long prison terms.

I hope you don’t mind if I don’t publicly give you a yes or no.
Each blog has its own specialty so to speak. Unlike O’Mara and West who needed help from the outhouse to proceed in the criminal case, it’s my impression that attorneys Crump, Parks, and Jackson have enough experience and know-how. They already got the HOA to settle for over a million dollars. Actually, I think they would have done better in the criminal trial than the prosecutors because they are better articulating what is impossible with Zimmerman’s story.
Juror B37’s interview on AC360 can do nothing but help attorneys Crump and associates in a civil case (as well as the DOJ), because she admits that the jury decided Zimmerman confronted Trayvon and his reason for doing so was based on “those people” “vandalizing” his community.

And you’re correct that Crump, Parks and Jackson would have presented a better case than the State did.
When I noticed Parks not sitting next to Tracy and Sybrina a few days during the middle of the trial I got the feeling that he knew the fix was in too.

Judge Nelson stacked the cards against prosecutors when she ruled that expert voice analysts could not testify.

If Judge Nelson and the State weren’t working together to get Fatback acquitted then why didn’t the State appeal the decision on the Frye hearing?
IIRC the defense argument was that the State’s experts conclusions not the methodology was not reliable, but the point of a Frye hearing is to determine the reliability of the methodolgy used not the conclusions reached.
I had a ‘WTF’ moment when the State had the defense’s expert from the Frye hearing testifying for them about family members being able to recognize their relatives’ voices/screams.
Unless the State had called Jenna and John Good(e) (irony alert) as hostile witnesses and presented evidence that they either saw more than they earlier claimed or they were assessories to Trayvon’s murder I don’t understand why the State called them as direct witnesses.

I’m unsure if Don West played the timing to his benefit, or if Judge Nelson deliberately made that timing to the defense’s advantage. This is what I mean. She delayed the Frye hearing and it continued during jury selection and, if I’m not mistaken, AFTER she decided to have the jury sequestered.
For the State to appeal would also mean that they would need to file and have granted a motion to stay proceedings pending decision on appeal. Well, the defense wanted to delay trial anyway. Voir dire of jurors — could they allow them to be on hold for weeks pending decision on appeal? Voir dire would continue because the court had already sent out summons for jury duty. Would the appellate court take jurisdiction to hear a pre-trial matter?
Effectively, Don West took 15 minutes to say one sentence each time he opened his mouth, and then one of their experts was unavailable on that Saturday when the hearing was held. That extended the Frye hearing delaying its conclusion so that Judge Nelson could render a decision before trial.
