The Florida police chief that is actively investigating a confrontation between George Zimmerman, his wife and his father in law says someone is lying: either George Zimmerman or his lawyer.
Both the Lake Mary Florida Police Chief, Steve Bracknell, and the department’s spokesman Zach Hudson confirmed to ThinkProgress that George Zimmerman told officers at the scene that he did not have a gun on him during the incident. This directly contradicts what ZImmerman’s lawyer, Mark O’Mara, told CNN:
O’MARA: He acted appropriately. He never took the weapon out. The only thing he really did, which is what he told the police, was on the outside of his shirt, he made sure the gun wasn’t moving anywhere and didn’t do anything because [Zimmerman’s father-in-law] Mr. Dean was sort of coming at him, that can sort of be seen in the video.
COOPER: So he had the gun actually on his person not like, in the glove box of his car?
O’MARA: That’s correct.
Bracknell acknowledged the contradiction, telling ThinkProgress “Who is telling the truth? Good question.” He added that O’Mara was “on scene providing legal advice to hid [sic] client.” Bracknell appeared to suggest that O’Mara was well-informed of the facts of the case and had little reason to invent facts — like Zimmerman having a gun — that would be damaging to his client.

LAKE MARY – George Zimmerman did so much damage to an iPad that his estranged wife was using to video-record their argument over how to divide household goods that authorities cannot quickly recover images and thus he will not face arrest, the police department announced at noon.
“The iPad is in really bad shape,” said Lake Mary Officer Zach Hudson.
Zimmerman admitted destroying it and can be seen on a home security system video to be piercing it with some sort of tool then flinging it to the ground on Monday.
Hudson said without video corroboration to Shellie Zimmerman’s allegation that he threatened to harm her, there would be no arrest.
It also means that she won’t be arrested either. George Zimmerman had lodged a conter-complaint, alleging that she had hit him with the iPad.
Hudson did not rule out future charges, should someone be able to figure out how to recover the iPad video, but he said police weren’t sure who might be able to do that or when.
He suggested that might take weeks or months.
Police expect to release their final report on what happened at Zimmerman’s home Monday, the dispute that sparked Shellie Zimmerman’s call to 911.

George Zimmerman Alleged iPad Smashing Caught On Video

New footage has surfaced appearing to show the moment George Zimmerman “smashed” an iPad that may contain proof he punched his father-in-law during an alleged altercation last week.
The footage was captured on a home security system moments after the alleged altercation at the Florida rental home where George and Shellie Zimmerman had been living.
Shellie told a 911 operator George took a pocket knife to the iPad and then smashed it … and the video appears to back up the story.
While you can’t actually make out a pocket knife in the footage, it’s obvious George is finagling with the device … before he tosses it on the ground.
Shellie recovers the iPad moments later.
After the incident, Shellie turned the iPad over to cops — and they’re confident they can recover any footage that was stored in the device, but acknowledge it was pretty badly damaged.
As we previously reported, Shellie initially told the 911 operator George was threatening the family with a gun … but she later recanted her story and police say they’ve seen no evidence George ever had a gun.

Dr. Shiping Bao’s testimony raised eyebrows during the George Zimmerman trial.
“I believe it is my opinion that Trayvon Martin was in a lot of pain, and that he was suffering,” Bao said July 5 during testimony in the George Zimmerman trial.
On the stand, Dr. Bao changed his testimony about key statements he’d made and said he’d changed his mind about Martin only being alive for as many as three minutes after the shooting.
“I believe he was alive one to 10 minutes after he was shot. His heart was beating until there was no blood left,” Bao said.
Dr. Bao is dropping another bombshell — his attorney is preparing a $100 million lawsuit.
Through his high-profile attorney, he claims the medical examiner, state attorney’s office, and Sanford Police Department were all biased against Martin.
“He says their general attitude was that he got what he deserved,” Attorney Willie Gary told Channel 9.
Gary said Dr. Bao was made to be a scapegoat and was wrongfully fired from the medical examiner’s office. He said his client was prepared to offer proof that Martin was not the aggressor.
“He was in essence told to zip his lips. ‘Shut up. Don’t say those things,'” Gary said.
Gary said prosecutors never asked Dr. Bao a question crucial to their case.
“He wanted a question that would have allowed him to explain to the jury with scientific evidence how there was no way Trayvon Martin could have been on top of George Zimmerman,” Gary said.
Gary said that question never came.

I keep asking that same question. Why would these people deny justice to the family of a black child who was murdered by worthless white trash? I haven’t got anything that is close to an answer or an explanation. But it may be something as mundane as the State not wanting the Sanford PD to look bad. The cop problem is nationwide, as we all know. Prosecutors are reluctant to go after cops and seldom do. Other than that, there are the SYG laws that ALEC is behind, there’s the NRA and the gun manufacturers. Those might be part of the puzzle in direct or indirect ways. What doesn’t make sense to me is that they believed they could put on a trial and everyone would be satisfied there was a trial. Like we wouldn’t notice what was obvious. It was a winnable case, they didn’t want to win.
It is painful. Even though there will be positive outcomes for other children and young people, Trayvon Martin was murdered and his life and his future were stolen. Someone needs to answer for that. This is not 1955.
Somethings back-fired. For one, they no doubt assumed that by arresting George Zimmerman, they were keeping him safe. With his violent past and criminal background, the State requested a bond of one million dollars. They did not know at the time of his arrest that he had setup a beg site. Neither did they know that while he was in jail awaiting the bond hearing, that fools would donate more than $250K to him.
For the State’s intent and purposes, George Zimmerman was suppose to be in jail until they negotiated a plea for manslaughter.
Remember too that Zimmerman had attorneys who dumped him the weekend before his arrest. Zimmerman was suppose to end up with a public defender who would convince him to plea for manslaughter rather than go to trial.
Still, I don’t believe that the Assistant SA’s were included in any cover-up or fix. Had they been, they would not have worked so hard pre-trial.

Double Trouble: Both Shellie & George Zimmerman May Face Jail Time Over Domestic Dispute

With George and Shellie Zimmerman going back and forth about who started Monday’s messy marital match, it’s up to the police to figure out who is telling the truth.
And now, evidence that Shellie struck George in the back may land her in jail on domestic charges. But George isn’t clear yet. He may also face some jail time.
According to the Lake Mary Police Department, George could face evidence-destruction charges for destroying Shellie’s iPad. Yesterday, Shellie told the 911 dispatcher that her estranged husband smashed it to pieces, and we are learning today that he may have done so because it contained video of the domestic dispute.
This is just fucked up. So are they going to lock up Shellie to keep her alive for a bit?

George Zimmerman’s lawyer said today he will no longer represent the man acquitted of murder in the death of teenager Trayvon Martin.
The announcement came one day after Zimmerman’s wife, Shellie, called police to say that Zimmerman had assaulted her father and threatened her, leaving her “very, very scared.” Shellie Zimmerman recently filed papers seeking a divorce from Zimmerman.
A spokesman for Mark O’Mara, who succeeded in winning an acquittal for Zimmerman in the racially charged Trayvon Martin murder trial, said O’Mara will not represent Zimmerman in any future litigation including his divorce and any possible charges resulting from the Monday incident involving his wife and father-in-law.
O’Mara will still be Zimmerman’s lawyer in a defamation suit still pending against NBC.
O’Mara appeared to struggle with his anger at his client during Monday’s incident in which he went to Zimmerman’s house while police were still there. During a press conference later, O’Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, “Pay me.”
Zimmerman’s wife said that her husband has been acting as if he’s “invincible” since his acquittal in July.
Zimmerman has twice been caught speeding since the end of his murder trial and made a controversial visit to the Kel Tec gun factory, the company that made the weapon he used to kill Martin.

Officer Zach Hudson, the Lake Mary Police Department public information officer, told the New York Times that Zimmerman told the police he was not carrying a gun:

But George Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in no uncertain terms that Zimmerman was carrying a gun and had it on his person during the confrontation with his wife and father-in-law:

CNN’s Victor Blackwell reported that the police “did not check the car” because they didn’t have a warrant and it “wasn’t part of the crime scene.” Other reports indicate that, at some point, Police Chief Steve Bracknell became aware that there was a gun in Zimmerman’s truck, but they did not confiscate it. Shellie Zimmerman told the 911 operator that her husband was threatening her from his vehicle.

Shiping Bao, the Volusia County assistant medical examiner whose testimony during George Zimmerman’s murder trial was criticized, is no longer with the county, an official said.
County spokesman Dave Byron said he did not know the circumstances surrounding Bao’s departure.
“He is not with us,” Byron said. “I can tell you that, but I don’t know what the status of his departure is.”
Bao received national attention when he testified during George Zimmerman’s trial on second-degree murder charges for killing Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was acquitted.
During the trial, defense attorney Don West questioned Bao about his findings in Martin’s autopsy. Bao had initially estimated that Martin lived from one to three minutes after Zimmerman shot him. But on the stand in July, Bao said he had changed his opinion and that Martin had lived from one to 10 minutes.
Bao told West he had changed his opinion three weeks before the trial. When West asked him if he had informed prosecutors about his new opinion, Bao said he had not.

Trayvon Martin was far from the first person on whom George Zimmerman inflicted rage. Whether he fought Trayvon as the attacker or in self-defense…only George still knows. But, when jurors found Zimmerman Not Guilty of murdering 17-year old, Martin, they hadn’t heard what you’re learning now. On August 28th, ABC News aired my exclusive interview with the person closest to Zimmerman. You didn’t see the complete conversation. Nor have you heard the last from Zimmerman’s now estranged wife, Shellie.
The unaired parts of our interview include what I believe are some of the most important insights…not to a marriage…but to an American tragedy. In this video, you hear Shellie answer my questions about George’s temper. She reveals how fearful she’d become of George’s explosive moods. When Juror “B-37″ explained to a national television audience her reasons for voting to acquit Zimmerman of 2nd Degree Murder, she said he’d shot Trayvon because, “George believed his life was in danger.” She said, “George’s heart was in the right place, he just didn’t use good judgment.” Tell that to the strangers Shellie says she’s watched George torment over the years. Take the male driver she watched fall spontaneous victim to her husband’s rage one day as they were driving down a road. George didn’t like the man’s driving. Suddenly, George ordered Shellie to pull over. She watched in horror as George “went berserk” on the man for “absolutely nothing.”
Shellie’s not just a witness. She’s been victimized by George’s dark side many times. While in hiding as the trial crawled near, George did not go to a doctor. He’d been on an anti- depressant for good reason. Shellie is neat around the house. George wasn’t. One day, he decided he was sick of her laundry room drawer being kept more organized than his. He flew into a rage. He ripped the drawer from its hinges as he also threw Shellie’s purse to the ground, ensuring all her personal items scattered. But, at least, she wasn’t hungry.
On another of George’s bad days, she recalls returning from the grocery store with full bags and an appetite for a good meal. But George was in one of his, “Baker Act” states of mind. He took one look at the groceries and began screaming shrapnel, ordering her to take every item back to the store. Humiliated and heart broken, Shellie complied. As Floridians know, “The Baker Act” is the state statute that allows one to “involuntarily commit” someone who appears to have a mental illness or is considered a safety threat to himself or to others. “I almost Baker-Acted him,” Shellie told me, dysphorically shrugging her shoulders.
There are many memories Shellie considers more painful. But, listen for a deeper understanding of what she means in this extended interview. I apologize for the production quality. That is not a true statement. Zimmerman murdered Trayvon Martin. It is on an audio tape.
So now Shel-lie Zimmerman wants to unload her baggage on the entire nation as if the entire nation is supposed to be her psychiatrist. It doesn’t work like that, Shellie. This whole miserable scenario with Shellie and George and their break-up is starting to make me angry. We were certainly aware of Zimmerman’s temper and explosive moods and violent actions against people prior to the trial because some of the incidents were known. We could assume there had been other incidents we were not aware of. And, then of course, we know that George Zimmerman murdered an innocent kid who was a total stranger, who he didn’t know at all, because George’s rage exploded once again. Only that time he was pointing a gun.
First, I have no sympathy for Shel-lie Zimmerman or and her sad story of spousal abuse. If she wanted to get rid of George, she had plenty of time after he murdered Trayvon Martin to do that. And she knows that George murdered Trayvon. So, if she had a shred of human decency she would have freed herself of the monster and testified for the prosecution. Instead, she collaborated with him not because she loved him, she clearly doesn’t. She collaborated because she thought there was “gold in them there hills” and she would finally live the good life. Or, she get rid of George when he had the money she thought would be rolling in.
Shel-lie Zimmerman is a liar, a co-conspirator, and an all-around piece of sh!t. Go to Krispy Kreme and drown your sorrows in 12,000 grams of fat, you stupid b!tch and get off the TV. I loathe that woman.

The house where George and Shellie Zimmerman lived during his trial – and for nearly a year leading up to it – was no trailer in the woods.
It is a two-story, $240,000 home on a cul-de-sac with landscaping, a pool and spa in the backyard and two security cameras trained on its front door.
It’s also less than 10 minutes from the Seminole County criminal courthouse where Zimmerman stood trial on a second-degree murder charge for killing Trayvon Martin and was acquitted in July.
In an interview with ABC News two weeks ago, Shellie Zimmerman described their lives in hiding as “gypsies … We lived in a 20-foot trailer in the woods.”
But that was for a short period of time. On Sept. 5, according to GPS records at the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the couple moved for the last time.
It was into the large house not far from the courthouse, according to George Zimmerman’s drivers license records. The home is owned by someone close to the couple.

No one came to the door on Sprucewood Road Friday when an Orlando Sentinel reporter knocked. The 29-year-old Zimmerman, contacted through his attorney, would not comment.
It is the house where police took Zimmerman into custody today after a possible domestic altercation, police said.
The people who own the house, an Orlando-area husband and wife who own several pieces of real estate, were unavailable for comment.
Zimmerman’s address became public last week after a Lake Mary police officer pulled him over on Rinehart Road and gave him a ticket for driving 60 mph in a 45-mph zone.
It is not clear, however, whether he still lives at that address. According to Shellie Zimmerman’s divorce petition, they separated Aug. 13.
They had lived in the house at least through the end of his trial, July 13, according to Sheriff’s Office GPS records.
The Zimmermans paid $1,000 a month rent, according to statements previously posted about his legal defense fund by defense attorney Mark O’Mara.
Based on Seminole County Property Appraiser information, that is well below what the house is worth.
It has more than 3,500 square feet – more than 2,500 of it livable square feet – and a market value of $240,000, according to the appraiser.
The house was built in 1990 and the backyard is dominated by a two-tier pool and spa with four water jets shaped like lions’ heads. Also in the backyard is a patio with a second-story deck.

Police Chief Steve Bracknell tells TMZ, he’s frustrated Shellie Zimmerman changed her story. She now says George did not have his hand on a gun in a threatening manner while arguing with her father.
Chief Bracknell says of Zimmerman, “The guy just can’t stay out of the news” — referring to the Trayvon Martin killing, speeding tickets and now this. Bracknell says, “You’d think he’d get the heck out of Dodge.”
We’re told Shellie recanted her story after talking to her lawyer. The Chief said because of her flip-flopping, “There was not enough to affect an arrest, unfortunately.”
Bracknell seems concerned that Zimmerman is bent on causing trouble, saying, “It’s smoke, smoke smoke. Is there a fire somewhere? Lord knows.”
We asked him if he’d feel safe if Zimmerman was his next door neighbor. The Chief was clear … “I would not want to be the neighbor of George Zimmerman.”

I think there is a possibility that this entire Georgie/Shellie break-up is staged. They both want money. It sounds as though Zimmerman’s rage has totally consumed him. I actually think that the primary source of his rage right now is that millions of people hate and revile him and want him dead or incarcerated for the rest of his life. Shellie leaving him and going public with their divorce seems to have put him over the edge – again.

The final solution to the Zimmerman problem may be for one to kill the other and then the killer goes to prison. That disposes of both of them. Does Shellie deserve that you might ask? Since that time he’s been pulled over for speeding while in possession of a firearm, once in Texas and once in Florida, and now he’s threatening his wife with- what else? – a gun! She must have made the “mistake” of questioning him or failing to bow in his authoritarian presence. I don’t think it’s any secret that Georgie isn’t someone who has any restraint when it comes to using guns. But since the legal system is in the tank for him and see him as some sort of deity all because he murdered an unarmed Black teenager, she probably can’t even get as much as a restraining order against him.
