MORE MESSY DETAILS: Woman Snitches On Apollo In Federal Docs + Names Him “Mastermind” Of The Fraud Scheme

Ish just got (more) real. The full details surrounding Apollo Nida’s arrest (pictured above in an older mugshot) on bank fraud and auto title fraud charges have been put on blast. And it’s all messy. Deets inside….

Phaedra Parks’ husband Apollo Nida is in deep ish after being arrested on some major charges (and released on bond) recently. Especially since he’s still on probation after his previous jail stint from 2004-2008.

According to the AJC, who obtained the federal court docs, a woman named Gayla St. Julien was arrested for criminal activities related to fraud in September 2013. And as soon as that arrest went down, Gayla started talking. And she implicated Apollo E. Nida as the mastermind to this complicated ass scheme involving fake bank accounts, depositing stolen checks and creating fake businesses.

Trying to paraphrase this mess would be an epic fail, so we’re giving you exactly what Rodney Ho dug up below:

    ………………………

Phaedra….you in danger girl. Whether you were knowingly involved in this mess or not. It will never cease to amaze us how adamant criminals are to be on reality television where they will become an even bigger target. The thirst, delusion and narcissism is very real.

Gary Woman Admits Selling Baby For Sex
    January 26, 2014 10:06 AM

HAMMOND, Ind. (STMW) — A Gary, Ind. woman admitted this week that she sold a baby eight times to a Gary man for sex and was in the room for all the meetings except for the last one.

Natisha Hillard, 25, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Hammond to one count of selling a child for sex and two counts of allowing a child to take part in child pornography, the Post-Tribune is reporting.

Hillard admitted under questioning by her attorney, Visvaldis Kupsis, that she met Christopher M. Bour through a dating service in 2011 and that they agreed to meet at her place. That was when Bour started asking her about two children she had access to, both girls, who were 4 months and 3 years old at the time.

The crimes lasted from September 2011 until February 2013, when an acquaintance of Bour alerted the FBI that he had been asking her to take part.

Why Are Republicans Plotting To Sabotage A Crackdown On Tax Evasion?

By Alan Pyke on January 22, 2014 at 3:02 pm

The Republican Party is poised to demand the repeal of a law that cracks down on overseas tax dodging, according to Reuters.

The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, or FATCA, comes into effect later this year after long negotiations with banking authorities in Switzerland, the Cayman Islands, and other countries where America’s wealthy like to park the cash they hide from American tax authorities. FATCA agreements are giving the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and federal prosecutors unprecedented access to information on how international banks help Americans cheat on their taxes. Tax evasion by individuals and businesses robs taxpayers of about $300 billion each year, and FATCA is essential to staunching that fiscal bleeding.

If Republican National Committee (RNC) member Solomon Yue has his way, however, his party will begin fighting to repeal FATCA. The RNC “is expected to approve” Yue’s resolution adding a FATCA repeal plank to the party platform for 2014. “Repeal seems unlikely, but more political heat from Republicans could further complicate and delay implementation,” according to Reuters.

The purpose of Yue’s resolution to undermine the tax cheat crackdown appears to be more cynical than policy-based. The move is intended to help the party’s fundraising, Reuters reports, quoting multiple sources, including Yue and Cato Institute Senior Fellow Dan Mitchell. An RNC spokeswoman declined to comment because the resolution has not yet been adopted by the party, and referred ThinkProgress to Yue himself. “I see FATCA just like Obamacare,” Yue told Reuters, in that “It will attract American overseas donors.”

That is a reversal from Yue’s previous claim to McClatchy reporters that repealing FATCA was crucial for American citizens living and banking overseas. Yue’s substantive case for repeal in December was based on the idea that some banks have stopped opening accounts for American citizens, resulting in unfair hardships for expats and hurting U.S. economic competitiveness. “It’s not a question of looking for political traction,” Yue said then. “I’m looking for what’s right for Americans abroad.”

    Christie’s other traffic jam

    By Ned Resnikoff

    ————————————

So why did Christie kill the new tunnel? Ostensibly, he was worried about cost overruns; but an independent inquiry by Congress’ investigative arm found no evidence of the massive price inflation which Christie predicted. To many many of the governor’s critics, the death of the ARC tunnel looks more like a political ploy, crafted to boost his reputation and pocket billions of dollars in construction funds at the expense of New Jersey’s transit system and economic well-being.
    .
    .
Although the ARC project may be dead and buried, New Jersey may still eventually get its second rail tunnel to New York. Last May, the Department of Transportation offered New York $185 million for a project known as Gateway, which would serve the same needs as ARC. But the project is still not fully funded, and it could be years before construction begins.

Don’t Piss On My Shoes and Tell Me It’s Raining

The Republican spin machine has been working over marks like Marc Ambinder, and they’ve got him convinced that this time the Presidential primary will be different:

The end result is that the party has conspired to nominate the most electable conservative candidate and quickly. Challengers must prove themselves much earlier. Deep pockets and good field organizations will become more important relative to free media generated by tactical maneuvers and conservative radio hosts.

In other words, the RNC has finally disenfranchised the crazies this time, just like the last dozen times. The proper response to this RNC spin headlines this post, because it’s not just the Presidential race, it’s the whole brand.

Here’s one example from a local race, New York’s 25th Congressional District, currently held by 84 year-old Democrat Louise Slaughter. We had two challengers announce this week. One is a true Tea Partier who is so wedded to the Constitution that he won’t run on a party line but instead will be a true independent fighting for repeal of gun control and Obamacare. The “reasonable conservative” in the race, running on the Republican line, used to write columns comparing the teaching of global warming and evolution to Hitler Youth indoctrination. That’s the range of choice Republicans are giving voters in a district which went for Obama by double digits in the last two Presidential elections.

    Here’s the truth:

    1. President Obama has nominated more Blacks to the bench than any President in History.
    2. How come they couldn’t open their muthafucking mouths when the Republicans were doing unprecedented obstruction in delaying the President’s nominees?

    …………………..

    CBC to go after Obama

Leaders of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) plan to publicly
rebuke President Obama over a lack of diversity in his federal judicial
    picks.

The lawmakers are organizing a Capitol Hill press conference as early as this week to decry what Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) called “the appalling lack of African American representation” among Obama’s nominees, particularly in the 11th Circuit, which includes Georgia, Florida and Alabama. The Democrats also contend several of Obama’s nominees have championed policies that either discriminate against minorities, or are just plain racist.

“We have very grave concerns [with certain nominees] given disparities that are particularly common in the South,” Norton
said Thursday in a telephone interview.

…The White House said 18 percent of Obama’s confirmed judges have been African-American – higher than the 8-percent rate under President George W. Bush and the 16-percent figure under President Clinton.

The defense has done little to comfort CBC members and other civil rights advocates, however. They say neither the Senate’s archaic “blue slip” system — which essentially empowers home-state senators to veto judicial nominees — nor Obama’s track record excuses the push for an overwhelmingly white court in Georgia, where the road to civil rights was often paved in blood and the black population, at 31 percent, is well above twice the national figure.

  9. Under Chris Christie, Blacks and Latinos Got Shorted on Sandy Relief

    http://wapo.st/1eSrDAw

To say that this has been a bad month for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie would be something of an understatement. On top of the ongoing “bridge-gate” scandal, he’s now fighting allegations that his administration used Superstorm Sandy recovery funds to both strong-arm Hoboken’s mayor on a development deal and promote himself in election-year advertisements.

But another scandal, one that’s still below the radar of most pundits, could be more outrageous and even more damaging to Christie’s political prospects. Fortunately for the governor, he still has a chance to make this one right.

Data obtained by the Fair Share Housing Center show that the Christie administration has rejected African Americans seeking major post-Sandy rebuilding support at more than twice the rate of white applicants, and Latinos at 50 percent higher rates than whites. Adding insult to injury, the administration reportedly posted inaccurate information on the Spanish-language version of the state’s Sandy website and has no public plan for making whole the people who were harmed by the misinformation.

Superstorm Sandy did not discriminate. But the Christie administration appears to be doing so, whether intentionally or through neglect, in the federally funded recovery effort.

    Columbia Mall

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/police-identify-columbia-mall-shooter

The Howard County Police Department on Sunday identified the Columbia, Md. mall shooter as 19-year-old Darion Marcus Aguilar.

Aguilar fired between six and eight shots in the mall. He shot and killed two victims, and himself, Howard County Police Chief Bill McMahon said during a Sunday press conference. One person was also wounded in the foot.

Police did not know whether Aguilar was a student at the University of Maryland. Police also said they have yet to determine whether the shooter had a relationship with the victims — two store employees at the mall.

Police said that Aguilar purchased the 12 gauge shotgun he used at the mall in December. Detectives are still investigating the motive behind the shooting.

PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Republican Party formally censured Sen. John McCain on Saturday, citing a voting record they say is insufficiently conservative.

The resolution to censure McCain was approved by a voice-vote during a meeting of state committee members in Tempe, state party spokesman Tim Sifert said. It needed signatures from at least 20 percent of state committee members to reach the floor for debate.

Sifert said no further action was expected.
