JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jurors saw dramatic photos of the body of slain Florida teenager Jordan Davis Monday during the trial of the man accused in his killing, Michael Dunn, and viewed clothing Davis was wearing the evening he was shot to death.
The prosecution rested its case against Dunn early Monday afternoon after associate medical examiner Stacey Simons took the stand.
Dunn is accused of opening fire into a Dodge Durango in which the 17-year-old Davis was riding with three friends the night of Nov. 23, 2012. Dunn allegedly shot the teen at the Jacksonville, Fla. gas station after an argument over loud music.
Davis’ friend testified last week that Dunn said “Are you talking to me?” before opening fire. Dunn claims he shot in self-defense.

Letters by Dunn from jail released this week by the State’s Attorney’s Office reveal disturbing racial animus. In a letter to an unknown recipient highlighted by Jacksonville’s WTEV, he writes:
It’s spooky how racist everyone is up here and how biased toward blacks the courts are. I’m hoping that Jordan gets justice in Florida. I had to prepare myself mentally to go through this again because racism runs rampant in Florida. Yeah, I have to believe the defense feels confident that at least one juror would find reasonable doubt on murder one, and the worst possible outcome would be a hung jury if they exclude lesser charges. I’ve been reading you guys comments to help me catch up. I watched the prior videos and did not get to see the trial today. What television program shows reruns of the trial? I’m hoping that Jordan gets justice in Florida. I had to prepare myself mentally to go through this again because racism runs rampant in Florida. It is definitely institutionalized in the Florida justice system. We saw that in the Zimmerman trial and with the young woman that got sentenced for shooting in the ceiling to keep her violent husband from assaulting her again.

Dunn would get tried again, but I guess they figure they would cross that bridge when they come to it. They may also think they have a good chance of outright acquittal.
