NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has scheduled a press conference for Tuesday afternoon a 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT  to discuss the league’s investigation of racist comments purportedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling during a recorded conversation with a female companion.

Watch it live here. and here. Listen live here.

Will Adam Silver also address the long-standing HISTORY of Sterling’s RACIST ACTIONS too?

Wonder what this fellow is thinking now, that the shit has hit the proverbial fan.

David Stern really should have done this with Donald Sterling years ago

  1. Oprah Considering Buying The Clippers: ESPN

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/30/oprah-buying-clippers-nba-espn_n_5240578.html?utm_hp_ref=tw

Oprah could become an owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, ESPN reported on Wednesday.

The network said that the media mogul is mulling whether to join with fellow billionaires Larry Ellison and David Geffen in a bid for the team, which the NBA is attempting to wrest from current owner Donald Sterling in the wake of Sterling’s racism scandal.

On Tuesday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling for life from the league.

Oprah was asked by TMZ on Tuesday whether or not she wanted to buy the Clippers. She said she wasn’t interested. It wasn’t clear what, if anything, may have changed her mind.

If she did join in a successful bid for the team, Oprah would be one of just two black owners in the NBA (Michael Jordan owns the Charlotte Bobcats).

  2. Court documents show controversy involving Donald Sterling’s wife

An apartment tenant and managers claimed the wife of embattled Clippers owner Donald Sterling denigrated African Americans, Latinos and once posed as a health inspector, according to court records.

Rochelle Sterling denied she is a racist in a statement released to ESPN earlier this week and distanced herself from remarks captured on an audio recording said to be of her husband. The court documents offer a different perspective.

In a 2009 deposition, a tenant at one of the Sterling’s apartment buildings in Los Angeles County said that Rochelle Sterling called him a “black m—f—” during a discussion at the building.

“I asked her again, I asked her, ‘would you reduce the rent?’” Darrell Rhodes said in the deposition. “And she said, ‘who do you think you are, you black m—f—.’

“The way in which she said m—f— was more lower voiced, under her breath. She said black loud enough for me to hear, she said mother loud enough for me to hear. F— part was a little lower. I had to look at her lips to hear her say it. And I did.”

Rhodes, who filed a federal lawsuit against the Sterlings in 2007, alleged he was the target of discriminatory behavior by the Sterlings.

“Inflammatory remarks made directly to Darrell Rhodes by Shelley Sterling on several occasions indicate bias,” Rhodes wrote in a 2006 letter to the Sterlings that was entered into the court record. “We have been singled out in what we believe to be a discriminatory action.”

  3. Hey, what’s that sound? Everybody look – what’s going down? Adam Silver schooled the Nation on institutional racism.

    PLAY IT, Neil!

NBA saw the writing$$$ on the wall, once those sponsors started dropping Clippers like a STD infected man, they had to to tamp it down and get rid of that rat-headed racist mofo.

Thanks so much for this, video, Rikyrah. Yes; and we will NOT be going back.

Loved how she shared #1 that she had to sit on the question about whether she would interview Donald Sterling and #2, what would her first question be, because it reveals a lot about the person

The Los Angeles NAACP intention to honor Mr. Sterling for a lifetime body of work must be withdrawn, and the donation that he’s given to the Los Angeles NAACP will be returned.”

That was Leon Jenkins, president of the Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP, addressing reporters at a hastily-called press conference on Monday, telling them that the chapter would not, after all, bestow its 2014 Humanitarian Award to real estate billionaire Donald T. Sterling.

It’s the first thing that I thought of, Yahtc. I wouldn’t be surprised if the IRS hasn’t already assigned an agent to this problem which is bound to get worse.

BWA HA HA HA Nothing like a gigantic can of RAID to smoke out all the pesky lil roaches. NAACP is returning any monies Sterling has dropped into their coffers as well. You know Sterling expectecd secondary gains from donating to these organizations.

Donald Sterling Tells Fox Reporter: The Clippers Are Not For Sale
    Eric Lach – April 29, 2014, 4:01 PM EDT

Moments before NBA commissioner announced that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling had been banned for life from the league, Sterling spoke on the phone with Fox News contributor and veteran sportscaster Jim Gray. Sterling’s message to Gray: the Clippers are not for sale.

“I just spoke with Donald Sterling on the telephone just moments ago,” Gray said on Fox News’ “The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson” a few minutes before Silver made his announcement. “He is unaware of what is going to happen to him. He has not been notified. He also said that he really didn’t want to comment on the record. However, the team is not for sale and he will not be selling the team.”

It takes a lot to impress me anymore, but I have to say that Adam Silver just did.

Wow. That man just schooled the entire nation in what it looks like when you do what is right and what is moral, when you respond APPROPRIATELY. No media, no bullsh!t, just a swift, decisive action based on facts. I’m impressed.

    • SPEAK! Let me go tweet this.

      • That was so good, Liza! I just tweeted it.

      • Ametia says:

Tweet it until the cows come home, SG2. It’s our blogging and Tweeting that helps keep these mofos in check. The NBA knew about this scumbag Sterling for decades, but now with Twitter, our voices and our buying power can let them all know, including Silver that we’re not going quietly into that goodnight.

And that’s why they’re coming after us on the internet.

    • Ametia says:

Word, Liza. Silver had to say what he said. There were no other options.

The American people have spoken and they see the $$$ on the wall. And for all those nut-brains who are asking what about free speech?

I say WHAT ABOUT BEING TOTALLY RESPONSBILE FOR SAID FREE SPEECH?

The Clippers and other NBA teams need to consider OWNING teams, instead of just signing contracts to play on them. Just sayin’…

  13. GOP, Rush Limbaugh, Clive Bundy bigots…It’s your wake up call. Institutional racism will NOT be tolerated no matter how rich or powerful!

  14. Ametia says:

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was banned for life from the NBA and the team, Commissioner Adam Silver announced Tuesday, in connection with an audio recording in which he made racially charged comments to his girlfriend.

Silver said he would urge the Board of Governors to force the sale of the team and fined Sterling $2.5 million.

Calling the views expressed by Sterling “deeply offensive and hateful,” Silver announced the punishment in New York City.

The decision, the first major problem Silver has faced since succeeding David Stern in February, came after a four-day investigation sparked by TMZ.com’s publication of the recording. The contents of the recording, in which a man the NBA determined is Sterling asks his girlfriend not to bring blacks to games and urges her to delete an Instagram photo of herself with Magic Johnson, rocked the NBA, a league in which 76 percent of the players are African-American.

Watch live on CNN: The NBA has banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life and is fining him $2.5 million — the maximum fine allowed under the league’s constitution — NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said today. That ban would, among other things, keep Sterling from games, practices, and from going to Clippers facilities.

I guess that ALLEGED voice on the audio recordings were Donald Sterling’s Kobe & Michael Jordan.

      • Yahtc says:

Adam Silver stated that Sterling told him (Silver) that it WAS his voice.

      • Ametia says:

Yes; a deaf man could have figured out it was Sterling’s voice.

      • Liza says:

I always believed it was Sterling. The conversation between him and his mistress sounded authentic, not contrived or made up.

Well, the Sterlings, Don and Rochelle seem to have effed with the wrong mistress. If Don Sterling is lucid today, I bet he regrets the day that he met her. It’s interesting how his sleazy, adulterous behavior is what finally got him what he deserves.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2014/04/29/clipper-tickets-crash-thanks-to-sterling.html

Donald Sterling will see a lot of empty seats at tonight’s Clippers game. There are twice as many tickets available on the secondary market than there were before Sunday’s game. The average ticket price has also fallen from $680 to $250 today. Cheap seats are going for just $36.32. If things keep going south, Sterling will have to pay fans to show up.

  20. Ametia says:

It’s time to put an end to this madness, Adam Silver. Pull the plug on Sterling!
