In Living ColorIn Living Color was the brainchild of Keenen Ivory Wayans, the eldest acting sibling of a large and extremely talented family whose guidance toward his brothers and sisters would help shape his creation into something truly memorable, the likes of which had never been seen prior on US television.

In 1989, Keenen set about making a pilot episode for something he knew was going to be different. It wasn’t just going to be a show performed by black people for black people but was to be a multi-ethnic series. Using this as his basis he recruited two white actors who were fairly unknown at the time – James Carrey (now known as Jim) and Kelly Coffield.

In addition, the show introduced more upcoming talent, in the form of Tommy Davidson, Kim Coles, David Alan Grier, T’keyah “Crystal” Keymah and finally his siblings Kim Wayans and Damon Wayans. The cast was formed and the pilot was filmed. Things went quiet for a while until word of mouth spread about this amazing new show that dared to be different and one year later FOX television picked it up. In Spring 1990 In Living Color premiered on prime-time television and became a smash sensation overnight.

    California Chrome, ridden by Victor Espinoza, has won the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby. It is Espinoza’s second Derby victory.

    Commanding Curve finished second, Danza was third.

    A Republican state senate candidate who supported North Carolina’s
    ban on gay marriage once worked as a female impersonator at a gay nightclub, the Winston-Salem Journal reported Saturday.

    Real estate agent Steve Wiles, 34, went by “Mona Sinclair” when he worked at the now-closed Club Odyssey in the early 2000s, according to the club’s co-owner and another former employee. Wiles’ former co-workers claim he was gay at the time and was a frequent visitor at the nightclub before he began working there.

    Wiles denied that he worked as Mona Sinclair in interviews with the Winston-Salem Journal, and responded “no” when the newspaper asked whether he was gay.

    I feel physically sick after reading MoDo’s OpEd piece.

    She’s always had a nasty streak, but now she’s allowed to opine on how worthless Obama is without anything to support this assertion. The fact that someone in Hailmarysville believes it is all she needs.

    If it would do any good, I would run screaming across town yelling F*** You Maureen Dowd, that’s how angry this piece makes me.

    Bill’s actual legacy SUCKED but he hid it under his charm, and
    frankly impeachment (which was a gross misuse of Congress’ power) made him the underdog that we all wanted to embrace (that includes me).

    His actual record is pretty damned deplorable. The Telecom Bill of 1996 is the reason RWNJ’s and corporatists now own the air waves.

    Welfare ‘reform’ was a Republican wet dream.

    The “Religious Freedom Restoration Act” doesn’t get anywhere near the awful press it deserves: it is the basis of pharmacists refusing to dispense birth control and – wait for it – a major basis of the Hobby Lobby case as an excuse for using religion as a means of denying health care (and God knows what else). The bar for such actions was set very low in this law – I don’t remember Bill Clinton having any issues with it – because he was gonna win all the Evangelical racists with his Southern charm (fast forward to the 2008 primaries).

    And of course – Gramm-Leally (that spelling is wrong, I know). This deregulation of the financial industry is the REASON for the economic collapse of 2008. Bill ‘defended’ himself from impeachment during the day, and then was all chummy with Newt and Phil Gramm in the afternoon, crafting this destruction of the New Deal banking regulations.

    Bill Clinton stood at the point where anti-trust laws could be
    restored and he could have undone the privatization of government.
    Instead, he put privatization on steroids, and by the time PBO became POTUS, these ways of doing business were so entrenched that they could not be undone, especially in this political climate.

    Bill Clinton only plays progressive when he’s campaigning. His record is deplorable in actuality and yes – Hillary has to tell us how she feels about each and every law mentioned above that got her husband’s signature.

    I watch Million Dollar Listing, and I tell you I’d beat the crap out of some of these clients. When a real estate agent comes back to you, within a week, telling you he has a full-cash offer that will close within 45 days, the ONLY thing your dumb ass should say is THANK YOU. The entitlement and stupidity of some of these people is galling.

      This entire interview is nonsense. Sterling’s wife wanted this woman’s money spigot turned off, that’s what started the whole mess. Taped conversations and leaked tapes generally do not occur when the mistress (or “wingman” as she prefers) is being paid.

        Yeah, I suspect that totally decimating Sterling’s position within the NBA was an unintended consequence of whatever “V” (and her associates)really had in mind to keep the money flowing. She wasn’t about to go quietly into the night, but that is exactly what she should do now instead of giving interviews. No one cares about her, and her geriatric billionaire boyfriend probably regrets the day he laid eyes on her.
