Maya Angelou’s 911 call: Dispatcher ranted about race during the call.

Maya Angelou 25While Maya Angelou drew her last breath, 911 dispatcher John Ruckh held a conversation about Oprah Winfrey & race during the call.  According to reports, John Ruckh has been suspended with pay.  Why was he suspended? He should have been FIRED! In an emergency situation, time is very valuable. He should never be allowed to be a 911 dispatcher again. A race rant has no place during an emergency 911 call.

Rant begins around the 5 minute mark.

Ugly, hateful racist…I am glad he was caught and booted out. He will go down in history as sludge living among the slime.

  2. Why mus there be so much ugliness? It is disgusting.

  3. Ametia says:

Ruchkh feels it’s “unfortunate that works in a high profile job and everything is recorded.” REALLY?

His ass definitely needs to GO. WTF does Oprah have to do with his high-profile job?

I heard about this earlier and was hoping it wasn’t true. Smh. I’m actually surprised that the home attendant said Dr. Maya Angelou on the call. I was told you are not supposed to do that. It taints the call. If one of us were the 911 dispatcher when someone called in and said they had George Zimmerman unconscious, could we really be able to do our job without an immediate bias??? Probably not. The dispatcher was wrong and should be reprimanded, just not sure he should be fired. He was having an inappropriate conversation at work something that many people do. Now if it were the actual dispatcher in the call with the home attendant having that coversation versus helping, I would say fire him.

Side note – either they have the calls on speaker or the actual dispatcher told his buddy he had Maya Angelou. Too coincidental that he just started talking Oprah and race. There needs to be some additional training to these folks, because that’s inappropriate behavior.

    • Ametia says:

Hi GC. Great points. And SPOT on about this being “too coincidental.” Oprah and Maya are all over the tubes and papers since Maya died, and no doubt the NC stations are airing episodes and the newspapers.

Honestly, I don’t think training will help some of these folks. It’s in their DNA and they’ll die with this UGLINESS.

What? ? ? The dispatcher? Did they real ease it? You know me I can’t keep up with you 3 Chics.

    • CarolMaeWY says:

      Darn spellcheck…
      “Release.”

    • Hi CarolMae, I’m not sure who released it. But it’s despicable. Ranting about race during a 911 call? OMFG!

      • CarolMaeWY says:

Did you hear it? Is it played on what used to be reputable news sites? Not that I really want to hear ugly this morning. . .

      • Maya Angelou Dispatcher Suspended Over Oprah Trash Talk During 911 Call

An emergency dispatcher who can be overheard in the Maya Angelou 911 call was suspended for criticizing Oprah Winfrey in the middle of the emergency.

John Ruckh — a dispatcher in Winston-Salem North Carolina for 24 years — is heard in the background … making critical comments to someone about Oprah.

Ruckh — who did not take the actual call — is heard telling someone that Oprah has fallen out of grace because of an interview she did, where he claims she stated, “There are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die.”

Ruckh insists he used no racial slurs during the conversation, saying, “Unfortunately I work in a high-profile job and everything’s recorded.”

    Howdy! :) Still morning here. 😊 :)
