Cape Town South Africa Protest for Palestine

Cape Town protests for PalestineBlack people suffered horrible atrocities under slavery & South Africans suffered under brutal apartheid while the world watched. So it is with Palestinians.

Intentionally targeting little children? They were not military targets. They were just little kids playing on the beach.

There is no justification for what the  Israeli military did to those little boys who were only playing. It was cruel and barbaric.

Palestinian boys running from the bombs

CAPE TOWN – The International Relations and Cooperation Portfolio Committee chairperson on Wednesday received a memorandum by pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Cape Town.

Protesters were venting their anger against Israeli military operations in Gaza.

Thousands of demonstrators walked to Parliament in a march led by the Muslim Judicial Council.

Thousands of protesters in numerous cities worldwide took to the streets Thursday and Friday, from Cairo to Istanbul to Washington, to demand an immediate halt of Israel’s ground incursion in the Gaza Strip and call on the international community to intervene on behalf of Gazans.

Israeli police ransack Tariq Abu Khdeir family home and arrest relatives in apparent revenge raid

    http://mondoweiss.net/2014/07/relatives-apparent-revenge.html

Just hours after 15-year-old Tariq Abu Khdeir left for Ben Gurion International Airport to return home to Tampa, Florida, Israeli police raided and ransacked the home of his family in the Shufat neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem. The police arrested Abu Khdeir’s uncle and cousins without charges.

The Israeli motive appears to have been revenge for the family’s role in publicizing CCTV footage of Abu Khdeir’s brutal beating at the hands of Israeli police, and their public campaign to secure his return to the US.

Abu Khdeir had been jailed without charges after being beaten inches from his life during rioting in Shufat in protest of the murder of his cousin, Muhammad Abu Khdeir, by Israeli nationalists seeking vengeance. Footage of the beating was aired on news outlets around the world:

Israel is doing to Palestinians what white europeans did to Native Americans. Committing genocide for their land.

  6. The media is SHAMELESS! I am yet to hear anyone in the media speak about the rights of Palestinians. This is why Netanyahu gets away with committing genocide on the Palestinian people.

This tells me that Israel is suppressing and shutting down any of its own citizens who oppose the governments policies. No doubt some Israeli citizens live in fear and are scared to express their viewpoints and opposition.

    • Ametia says:

Yep,, not only is BIBI NUT-EN-BOZO and his government suppressing & OPPRESSING Palestinians, they are doing it to their own people.

Brave American young man, who has MORE courage than our greedy USA POLITICIANS, who support Israel in this travesty of human justice.

There will absolutely be no end to the Gaza-Israeli battle, until Netenyahu and his cohorts REMOVE the POLITICAL grenade . This battle has been going on for IONS

THE USA MUST STOP FILLING ISRAELS COFFERS to maim and KILL the Palestinians.

DON’T THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE, SURVIVE, THRIVE TOO?

      • “DON’T THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE, SURVIVE, THRIVE TOO?”

        Absolutely!!

        I pray for peace.

Killing and bombing is NOT the answer. There will always be large numbers of helpless, totally innocent victims when one side has all the military power especially when a cold, hardhearted leader is in the driver’s seat of that side that has the overbearing military power.

  8. Hey SouthernGirl2. Earlier this afternoon as I read my twitter TL and read the #GazaUnderAttack posts all I could do is ask myself, how long? How long will we pretend that what we are witnessing is not just the logical outcome of a project of colonial expansion and the inevitable erasure of an entire people. Over our lifetimes, we’ve seen administration after administration ostensibly try to broker a peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis to no avail. When will we, as Westerners finally abandon pretense and admit the gut level truth? There is no viable solution as long as one side is committed to the a greater Israel and a process of perpetual encirclement and encroachment of Palestinian land. Isn’t that what all settler colonial projects are all about? Just look at Manifest Destiny and westward expansion of the United States. The honest efforts of the Obama administration and in particular SOS John Kerry notwithstanding, I see no reason to hope that the trajectory of the Likud party and the behavior of Israeli PM Netanyahu will change any time soon. So despite international outcry, the US’s unwavering support of her client state in the Middle East is just too axiomatic a part of foreign policy to make much difference in Israel’s calculations. So innocent Palestinians will continue to die. Sacrificed at the altar of the Zionist project and domestic politics. Just this week in purportedly liberal New York City, a pathetic grouplet of about two dozen or so elected officials gathered at City Hall to express ‘support’ for Israel, just as Israeli ordnance fell on Palestinian civilians. The shabby event was closed to public as the number of protestors was far greater then the ‘supporters’ of Israel. Speaker after speaker prattled on stupidly about Israel’s ‘right to self defense’ as bombs fell on women and children. And just this afternoon, I came across an interview with Bill Clinton in which he laid the blame for the slaughter at the feet of Hamas, as if Israel had no choice other than killing innocent men, women, and children. This is what passes for debate about the Palestinian/Israeli conflict in the United States. All I can do is think about the people of Gaza and pray.

    • ALL OF THIS X’s 10!

Israel is cunning and deceptive monster. Playing the victim to garner sympathy from the US and others, while committing genocide on the Palestinian people.

      ****************
So incredibly shameful and disgusting. Like Liza said, the country has been propagandized to repeat that mantra. And Israel skips away to do whatever it damn well pleases.

      • Make no mistake, Bill is signaling to the Likudniks that a HRC administration is fully prepared to back Netanyahu and his deranged cabinet in whatever action they may take against the Palestinians. This was Bill’s way of distinguishing himself and Hillary from the Obama administration which has been trying get the peace process back on track. The Clintons have always been a shady pair and the most recent Gaza war has given them the perfect excuse to do what they do best.

    • Ametia says:

ON POINT! Adriane, Netenyahu’s actions are purely POLITICAL. The USA is just pouring our $$$$ into Israel, and for what?

And fuck Bill Clinton and his “Hamas” smoke screen. We’re smarter than this, to buy into that notion. HUMAN LIVES ARE BEING LOST.

  9. Obama administration criticizes Israel over civilian death toll in Gaza

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration criticized Israel on Thursday for failing to do all it can to prevent civilian casualties in Gaza during cross-border attacks as Israel and Hamas consider a cease-fire agreement.

Noting the deaths a day earlier of four boys who were killed on a Gaza beach by an Israeli strike, the State Department said the high civilian death toll in Gaza has been ‘‘heartbreaking.’’ Three more children were killed in Gaza on Thursday.

  10. Israel orders ground offensive in Gaza

    http://news.msn.com/world/israel-orders-ground-offensive-in-gaza-heavy-shelling-on-border

Reuters witnesses and Gaza residents reported heavy artillery and naval shelling and helicopter fire along the Gaza border.

“The prime minister and defence minister have instructed the IDF (Israel Defence Force) to begin a ground operation tonight in order to hit the terror tunnels from Gaza into Israel,” the statement said.
Israel and Palestinian militants in the densely populated enclave have been fighting a cross border war for 10 days.

The Israeli military says Gaza militants have fired more than 1,300 rockets into Israel. Palestinian health officials say 233 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air and naval strikes. One Israeli civilian has been killed by fire from Gaza.

Israel firing experimental weapons at Gaza’s civilians, say doctors

    http://electronicintifada.net/blogs/rania-khalek/israel-firing-experimental-weapons-gazas-civilians-say-doctors

Doctors treating patients in Gaza have accused Israel of using experimental weapons on Palestinian civilians.

Addressing reporters at a press conference on Sunday, Youssef Abul Resh, undersecretary of the health ministry in Gaza, said, “Medical teams have registered injuries consistent with those caused by DIME [dense inert metal explosives] and other banned weapons.”

He added, “Israel has mercilessly targeted Palestinian civilians, leaving many of them with life-threatening injuries and future handicaps.”

In the last week, Israeli airstrikes have killed more than 190 people, eighty percent of them civilians, including at least 34 children.

    Using Gaza as a laboratory

DIME munitions were developed by the US Air Force in 2006 and have since been tested repeatedly on the people of Gaza, who have long served as involuntary lab rats for Israel’s weapons industry.

DIME bombs contain tungsten, a cancer-causing metal that helps to produce incredibly destructive blasts which slice through flesh and bone, often decapitating the lower limbs of people within the blast radius.

Renowned Norwegian doctor Mads Gilbert, who witnessed the horrific injuries caused by DIME bombs during Israel’s 2009 Gaza onslaught, told The Electronic Intifada over the phone from al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City that patients are showing up with DIME-related injuries.

“A good number of the injuries seen here are consistent with the use of dense inert metal explosives, or DIME, that we saw during the 2009 attack and also in 2006,” said Gilbert. “The bodies are pretty much destroyed by enormous energy released by the explosives that are shot near them or at them.”

    http://electronicintifada.net/content/gaza-fishermen-protest-israel-breaks-pledge-stop-attacks/12251

“The situation for fishermen is very bad,” Mos’ad Baker said in the Gaza seaport Sunday. “We still face the Israeli navy daily.”

He had just returned from a flotilla that spent the morning sailing the Mediterranean coast of the Gaza Strip from the seaport to Beit Lahiya and back.

With more than 50 boats, the flotilla was part of a campaign against the Israeli navy’s attacks on Palestinian fishermen and to demand that Israel return 36 fishing boats it has seized. The protest was organized by the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC).

The event followed a series of protests the UAWC mounted last month as part of a global day of action for boycotts of Israeli agricultural companies.

For the several hundred fishermen who spent their mornings in the seaborne rally, accompanied by international activists and television cameras, it offered a rare window of relative safety at sea.

Israel gave a commitment in its 21 November 2012 ceasefire agreement with Palestinian resistance groups to “stop all hostilities in the Gaza Strip land sea and air, including incursions and targeting of individuals” and “refrain … from restricting residents’ free movements and targeting residents in border areas.”

The Hamas-run administration in Gaza announced the next day that negotiations for the truce in Cairo had expanded the three-nautical mile fishing limit imposed by Israel, as part of its naval blockade of the Gaza Strip, to six nautical miles.

Our tax dollars help pay for this and we have no choice. Any presidential candidate in the US who dares to speak up for the Palestinians will never be elected, Republican or Democrat. We have been propagandized to repeat the mantra, “Israel has the right to defend itself” no matter what Israel does to the Palestinians.

  15. American Mark Kilroy was murdered in Mexico in 1989. The US didn’t go bomb Mexico. Israel used the excuse of those missing boys to kill Palestinians and the world KNOWS it.

  16. cielo62 says:

Such fucking bullshit! HAMAS REFUSES A CEASE FIRE and they refuse to STOP bombing Israel! SO WHO IS TO BLAME??? BIG HINT: it is NOT Israel!!

    • Cielo62

You can use the Hamas excuse ALL you want. There is no justification for killing those 4 little boys playing soccer on the beach. Those kids were running away. They were NOT military targets. They were clearly targeted and slaughtered. You bet your sweet bippy Israel is to blame.

    • Liza says:

Israel leaflets Gaza warning people to evacuate because of the bombs. But where should they go? Gaza is an open air prison.

And, no, amigo, this ain’t “fucking bullshit.” It is more like genocide. None of these events occur out of context.

    • Liza says:

BIG HINT for cielo62: Israel wants the land and the water.

Israel Is Committing Genocide in the Gaza Ghetto.
Why Israeli policy towards the Gaza Strip amounts to an incremental genocide.

In a September 2006 article for The Electronic Intifada, I defined the Israeli policy towards the Gaza Strip as an incremental genocide.

Israel’s present assault on Gaza alas indicates that this policy continues unabated. The term is important since it appropriately locates Israel’s barbaric action — then and now — within a wider historical context.

This context should be insisted upon, since the Israeli propaganda machine attempts again and again to narrate its policies as out of context and turns the pretext it found for every new wave of destruction into the main justification for another spree of indiscriminate slaughter in the killing fields of Palestine.

    The context

The Zionist strategy of branding its brutal policies as an ad hoc response to this or that Palestinian action is as old as the Zionist presence in Palestine itself. It was used repeatedly as a justification for implementing the Zionist vision of a future Palestine that has in it very few, if any, native Palestinians.

The means for achieving this goal changed with the years, but the formula has remained the same: whatever the Zionist vision of a Jewish State might be, it can only materialize without any significant number of Palestinians in it. And nowadays the vision is of an Israel stretching over almost the whole of historic Palestine where millions of Palestinians still live.

  18. yahtzeebutterfly says:

It is heartbreaking to read about what is happening between Israel and the Palestinians and to see the horror of sweet innocent children and innocent civilians killed.

Each side simply wants to survive.

Until God cleanses all the hearts on both sides of hatred, retaliation, and revenge and then only fills those hearts with love, there will be no change.

Until God miraculously touches His children to realize that they are one family, they will not try to help the survival of the other or care about the welfare of the other.

Desiring God to change hearts must be the fervent prayer request of ALL the people on both sides.

  19. I cry for the children. Little innocent children just playing. I don’t want to look at Bibi. He disgusts me.

  20. Why would anyone be so cold, so brutal to blow up little boys? Whomever did this deserves the hottest part of hell. Benjamin Netanyahu is a war mongering bully! He wants no part of peace.

  21. Lord Have Mercy upon the people of Palestine.
