Following a long afternoon on the golf course, President Obama broke with routine and joined the First Lady for an early evening jazz concert at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs. Jazz on the Vineyard is a benefit for Student Achievement Through Opportunity. Scheduled performers included Meshell Ndegeocello and Rachelle Ferrell. The President is scheduled to fly back to Washington later tonight for two days, returning on Tuesday.

Armed Men Raid Liberia Ebola Quarantine Center

Armed men claiming that “there’s no Ebola” in Liberia raided a quarantine center for the deadly disease in Monrovia overnight, prompting at least 20 patients infected with the deadly virus to flee, a witness said Sunday.
Liberian officials fear Ebola could soon spread through the capital’s largest slum after the looters chased off Ebola patients and took items including blood-stained sheets and mattresses.
“They broke down the door and looted the place. The patients have all gone,” said Rebecca Wesseh, who witnessed the attack and whose report was confirmed by residents and the head of Health Workers Association of Liberia, George Williams.
Williams said the unit housed 29 patients who were receiving preliminary treatment before being taken to a hospital. It was unclear how many are now at large.
“They had all tested positive for Ebola,” he said, adding that nine had died, without elaborating.

I’m reading and watching everything. I’m filled with anxiety and anger with our little planet and it’s inhabitants. I have internalized all of this, Brown, Gardner, the mess on the Gaza Strip, the kidnap girls, Isis and the BS with our government. I express myself in my poems. My plea for peace and togetherness. I don’t have any original solutions only that we need to learn how to stand together and behave peacefully so we can all be heard loudly.
Do you have any poems on Michael Brown or how the black citizens of Ferguson is being treated by the US government? Or both?
My poems are abstract and touches on everything. The last few days I’m trying to focus on peace and calm because this is what we do need.

Maybe your poems can give us some comfort b/c I am in tears right now. And feeling so helpless for my brothers and sisters in Ferguson. I’m stunned beyond description of seeing police attacking people who have a constitutional right to demand justice for Michael Brown. And seeing Sun Down Laws being imposed before our eyes.
I feel that same pain. I’m in rage that they went searching for a video that looks like Michael Brown to slander him by accusing him of stealing and bullying. Even with the video blurred you can see it’s not him. I’m outraged that they felt the need to spray gas on our people peacefully demonstrating. I think it is sicking that in America these white people think it is justified to threaten tax paying, respectable people who are outrage with assault weapons. They are not terrorist. I am angry that they haven’t arrested this Darren what’s his name. If not arrested at least put him on unpaid leave until the investigation is completed. He shouldn’t be on leave getting his regular salary for being a racist pig. I have anger, I have disgust and outrage. I have cried many tears and laid awake in bed with worry for our children’s future. I have a oversize 13 y/o grandson. He is a passivise and lives in Flatbush Brooklyn I’m scared every time he goes out. I fight this fight by trying to up lift and unite with my words.

My heart has been aching and wrenching over all that has been going on and especially the police brutality and treatment of Black Americans.
I am always looking for spiritual sustenance to refresh myself so that I can return to the fray and advocate for the innocent, unarmed victims of police shootings and the inequality of Blacks as they are unjustly and negative profiled by the police and racist vigilantes.
American needs to hear the cry and prayer of the children.

In a rare move for him, the president planned a break in the middle of his Martha’s Vineyard vacation to return to Washington on Sunday night for unspecified meetings with Vice President Joe Biden and other advisers.
The White House has been cagey about why the president needs to be back in Washington for those discussions.

Part of the decision appears aimed at countering criticism that Obama is spending two weeks on a resort island in the midst of so many foreign and domestic crises.
Yet those crises turned the first week of Obama’s vacation into a working holiday. He made on-camera statements on U.S. military action in Iraq and the clashes between police and protesters in Ferguson, Missouri. He called foreign leaders to discuss the tensions between Ukraine and Russia, as well as between Israel and Hamas.

The problem with that is that every black person who ever lived is not responsible for what happened to his father, and the man who killed his father is serving a life sentence. His father can’t be brought back, neither can Michael Brown. The people just want justice.

There is more than enough blame to go around for everyone involved with this tragedy.
Ferguson, Missouri – Enough is Enough!
No doubt, but to blame black people for being black is DESPICABLE!
If you do the crime, you do the time. The time should match the crime. Suggesting that black folks need to check their negative thugging, whatever is BULLSHIT.
Again the blame is shifted on BLACKS to stand a certain way, walk a certain way, talk a certain way. The laws in this country are not administered equally.
What is happening is Ferguson is a wake up call for the citizens to get out and vote. And being in a majority and not running for elected office or voting is not an attractive look. black folks need to assert that majority power and VOTE!
But the one thing they can’t be blamed for is being BLACK.
