    What’s going on in Ferguson?
My head is a jumbled mess these days about what is going on in Ferguson, MO. That’s probably a result of spending too much time following the story on twitter. You get the news first there. But its mixed in with all the emotional reaction. So I decided its time for me to analyze what I think we do/don’t know.

First of all, I think its helpful to recognize that there are two separate issues to deal with. First there’s the shooting of Michael Brown. Secondly, there’s the police response to the protests.

An awful lot of people are assuming we know what happened in the altercation between Michael Brown and Officer Wilson. Those who have been paying attention have heard a couple of eye witness reports and a reported friend of Wilson tell his side of the story on a radio call-in show. I certainly hope that at some point we get a clear picture. But there’s a lot that is disputed or unknown right now.

I suspect that its very likely that there was a verbal altercation between the two when Wilson told Brown to get out of the middle of the street. It escalated and at some point Brown walked away. If the autopsy shows that even one of the 6-10 shots fired hit him in the back, it will be nearly impossible to see that as anything other than murder. End.of.story.

The disturbing part of all of this is how the local police handled the shooting:

Didn’t allow CPR on the scene
Left Brown’s body on the street for hours
    Didn’t interview any witnesses
Allowed the officer to leave town
Withheld the officer’s name for 5 days
Still haven’t released the incident report on the shooting or the autopsy results
Against the advice of DOJ, released a video purporting to show Brown involved in an unarmed robbery and then admitted it had nothing to do with the shooting

Hence the protests. On Friday the Brown family’s lawyer confirmed that an autopsy had been performed by both local law enforcement and the family. So someone has answers to the question of whether or not Michael Brown was shot in the back. But they’re not telling the public.

All of the concern about the militarization of law enforcement has come as a result of the initial police response to the protests (not the shooting of Michael Brown). Its true that there has been some looting. And its right for people to call that out. But its been by a few and, for the most part, the community has done what they can to stop it. Overall, the situation was only inflamed by the over-response from police to the protesters and their lack of action in dealing with the shooting.

That summarizes what I’ve been able to suss out about what’s been happening. At this point its clear that we can’t trust local law enforcement to deal with either the shooting of Michael Brown or handling the protesters. The FBI has been sent in to rectify the former and Capt. Johnson is doing his dead level best to deal with the latter.

But I suspect there are serious power plays going on behind the scenes about all that. And the fact that things haven’t clarified yet shows they are likely pretty intense and still in play. Governor Nixon seems to be playing both sides of that isle – which is why things are still muddled.

Get to stepping and register every one you can to vote, run for office or sposnor someone who want to, and then get to the polls in November.

Now thanking President Barack Obama and Atty. Gen. Eric Holder for what they have done this week.

DOJ is going to make this a civil rights violation investigation.

Rev Al: “Let me give this offering. I don’t mess with you in the courtroom Crump, don’t mess with me I’m giving this offering.”

  8. MSNBC: FBI agents interviewed several new witnesses on 8/16/2014 to the Michael Brown shooting.

  9. Ametia says:

LET’S STAND UP FOR JUSTICE AND VOTE!

    • Ametia says:

Here’s the thing with all these folks ronting before the camera. They were not able to affect any change, because they WENT ALONG TO GET ALONG, so now they are making EXCUSES.

Former Mayor Fletcher carries the same tired old, racist narrative. “Dem negroes didn’t want postiions in the Ferguson police department. HMMM, WONDER WHY?

  10. Ametia says:

Rev. Al: “We are not looters, we’re liberator. We are not burners, we’re buiders!”

    • Ametia says:

Michael Brown gonna change this town!

ya’ll got to start voting and showing up. 12% turnout is an insult to your children.

Rev. Al can tell these folks the TRUTH, like this

  11. Rev Al: No one can go to the WH without stopping by our house unless they talk about policing.

Two interesting Youtubes re Mike Brown case. This witness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfy5FiqzWHI#t=129 … & This surveillance video angle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maA1FUJqhew&feature=youtu.be&app=desktop

    • GrannyStandingforTruth says:

Brown paid for his Rellos. No wonder the police report is confusing and not signed. Corruption runs deep in the Ferguson police department, Fire all of them involved in cover-up

      • Ametia says:

Granny, It’s crystal clear the FPD released their version of the video to taint the jury pool.

        The entire department needs FUMIGATING.

      • Liza says:

I’ve watched the video about five times and it doesn’t prove shoplifting or robbery that I can see. It shows shoving, for sure, but the rest of it could fit multiple narratives.

And it’s still irrelevant to the murder of the kid. Just shows that the cops don’t want to charge one of their own so they are trying to create outrage among the white folks via mainstream media.

        Same sh!t, different day.

@YourAnonNews @OpFerguson Curfews are for kids. Call it what it is: House Arrest.

    • Ametia says:

Gov, Nixon’s little sideshow yesterday was INSULTING & CONDESCENDING.

He says the curfew was for safety , but it was for securing and allaying white fears and to control and punish the black citizens of Ferguson for standing up to white power!

  17. GrannyStandingforTruth says:

African Americans are entitled to untainted due process of law, not execution by police playing judge, jury, and executioner. What part of that does America’s police not understand?

    • yahtzeebutterfly says:

      Truth!

I am going to transcribe it and post it here.

      Jesse Williams:

Well, I think we also have to talk about the narrative and making sure we’re starting at the beginning.

You’ll find that the people doing the oppressing often want to start the narrative at a convenient point, always start the narrative in the middle.

This started with a kid getting shot and killed and left in the street for 4 hours. I’ve never seen a White body left in the street for 4 hours in the sweltering heat.

I’ve never…you know…the cop doesn’t call in the shooting. The body isn’t put in an ambulance. It’s shuttled away in some shady, unmarked SUV.

There’s a lot of bizarre behavior going on, and that is the story…that is where we need journalism. That is where we need that element of our society to kick into gear and not just keep playing a loop that gets discovered of what the kid may have done, or did apparently, in a convenience store.

That’s unfortunate. That’s…you know if that happened, where that’s going to get factored in, like it or not, but we need journalism that’s going to start telling the story from beginning. This is about a kid…finding justice for a kid that was shot. An 18-year-old that was shot. PERIOD.

And this idea that because he stole a handful of cheap cigars…that were five bucks?…from a convenience store? I lived in…I’ve lived in White suburbs of this country for a long time. I know plenty of White kids that steal stuff from this convenient store. There’s plenty….this idea that every time a Black person does something, they automatically become a thug worthy of their own death..

We don’t own drug crimes. We’re not the only ones that sell and do drugs all the time. We’re not the only ones that steal, we’re not the only ones that talk crazy to cops.

You know, there is a complete double standard….a complete different experience that a certain element of this country gets the privilege of being treated like human beings, and the rest of us are not treated like human beings. PERIOD.

And that needs to be discussed, that is the story. Alright, that’s what gets very frustrating for people because you don’t know five Black folks, five Black men in particular that have not been harassed and felt threatened by police officers. You can’t throw a rock and find five of them. We’re not making this up.

      • Ametia says:

Wait for it, the folks will be screaming for a boycott of ABC and Grey’s Anatomy.

Now if Jesse magically disappears from the Grey’s script due to some untimely death, I’m giving Shonda Rhimes the SIDE-EYE.

      • GrannyStandingforTruth says:

And there it is an example of inequality and injustice.

      • rikyrah says:

        TELL IT

        TELL IT

        TELL IT

        NOTHING BUT TRUTH

    • Ametia says:

Jesse went OOPS! upside everybody’s head this morning, especially Candy Crowly and that black conservative lady.

  18. Liza says:

What we hear about, what gets into the news, is just the tip of the ‘berg.

This can’t go on. There is no one solution, the solution is complex. And, quite frankly, I’ve given up a long time ago on “hearts and minds” types of answers.

What is clearly lacking here, and what has never been a part of the American culture, is that one person’s life is as valuable as another’s.

These cops who kill sleep at night because they believe that the life they snuffed out was not as valuable as their own, and in all of these cases because their victim was black.

    This has to end.

    • Ametia says:

      QUIZ

What do all these items/actions have in common?

Shoplifting, wearing hoodies, loud music, wearing low-riding pants, backwards baseball caps, walking on sidewalks, smoking crack & marijuana, snorting cocaine, walking on streets, driving luxury cars…..

There’s no time limit on giving the answers.

White America wake up and speak out against these atrocities! Those White Americans who remain silent and do not demand an end to these atrocities and injustices are responsible for it continuing!

White America wake up and speak out against these atrocities! Those White Americans who remain silent and do not demand an end to these atrocities and injustices are responsible for it continuing!

“In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
      ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Melissa Harris Perry in the video informs us that

Ferguson is just outside St. Louis, Missouri the place where historian Blair Kelly reminded us this week in “The Root”, Dred Scott sued for his freedom on the grounds that he and his wife had for 3 years…had for many years lived in a free state.

His case eventually went to the Supreme Court, and in 1857 Chief Justice Roger Taney declared that Scott had no right to sue because as a Black man, he was never intended to be an American.

Speaking on the clause in the Declaration of Independence that “All men are created EQUAL Taney wrote quote: ‘It is too clear for dispute, that the enslaved African race were not intended to be included, and formed no part of the people who framed and adopted this declaration.”

And, he went on to say that Black men “Had no rights which the White man was bound to respect.”

Tragically, we are still seeing this mindset against our fellow Black Americans today.

Speak up White Americans (and I mean RIGHT NOW!) against this heinous mindset of evil that says and was asserted by in 1857 by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court that Black Americans have “no rights which the White man was bound to respect”

If you don’t speak up and if you choose to remain silent, you are part of the problem, and your silence can only be taken as approval of this evil mindset that still exists today.
