miriam-makebaMiriam Makeba (4 March 1932 – 9 November 2008), nicknamed Mama Africa, was a Grammy Award-winning South African singer and civil rights activist.

In the 1960s, she was the first artist from Africa to popularize African music around the world. She is best known for the song “Pata Pata“, first recorded in 1957 and released in the U.S. in 1967. She recorded and toured with many popular artists, such as Harry Belafonte, Paul Simon, and her former husband Hugh Masekela.

Makeba campaigned against the South African system of apartheid. The South African government responded by revoking her passport in 1960 and her citizenship and right of return in 1963. As the apartheid system crumbled she returned home for the first time in 1990.

Depressing to think that getting people to vote for Dems is as simple as getting a person with white skin in the WH. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/11/05/inside-the-democrats-godawful-midterm-election-wipeout.html
    9:40 AM – 5 Nov 2014

  2. Just saw the ad where all the Democrats were bashing the Potus and fucked themselves. In the ad one woman cut the power off at the WH. LOL! She got cut off. bwa ha ha ha

  3. Liza says:

My Twitter comments are awaiting moderation. One of them is a duplicate (sorry.)

  4. Potus warning, Congress will pass bills he cannot sign. His veto pin is ready.

    **************************

Shorter Potus: Bring it on mofos. I ain’t signing your bs bills.

    • Ametia says:

LOL I was listening to a bit of his conference during my lunch hour.

POTUS will continue to TCB. What the ReTHUGS will try to do is CO-OPT what PBO’s been doing all along.

They’ll water it down to nothing and claim it could only be accomplished by a Republican.

      GTFOH

  5. rikyrah says:

For all those who weren’t paying attention…the GOP IS

    THE PAUL RYAN BUDGET

They are going to pass it and send it to a GOP Senate.

Elections have consequences for those of you who didn’t vote.

And, when that budget comes for you, Kiss My Entire Black Ass.

    You were warned.

    • Liza says:

My prediction is that if the Democrats run Hillary in 2016, she’ll lose and whatever white male the GOP runs will win. Then the GOP will have it all and they can pick up where they left off in 2008, running the country into the ground. And they will.

      • roderick2012 says:

I agree that the GOP will win in 2016 but I don’t think that Hillary will be the Democratic nominee.

Maybe Elizabeth Warren or Martin O’Maley(sic).

Although Republicans will be defending 20+ Senate seats in the 2016 with 7 of those in states Obama one at least once I don’t see us getting the Senate back because I think a lot of voters would split their vote–vote for the Democrat for president and Rethug for Senate.

      • Liza says:

Yeah, there’s still time but I don’t think the Democrats have anyone who could win in 2016 or even invigorate their own base. It really doesn’t look good from here.

        People have such short memories.

      • Ametia says:

Yep, and then folks can go back to watching Amerian Idol and “Honey Boo Boo.”

    • Ametia says:

SHAKING MY HEAD. And PBO should be upset because? GTFOH. These Dems have tried their asses, and are determined to help roll back any good thing POTUS has done since he took office.

    • Liza says:

The Democrats in Congress are terrified of becoming the targets of right wing/corporate media, and they figured the way to avoid that and win elections was to go along and not support President Obama. Then, when they get called out, they say it was dark money and voter suppression that caused this debacle. Okay, we all agree that those are two major issues. But WTF were the Democrats doing about either of those issues for the past 15 years? They need to grow a spine and speak out and get DEMOCRATIC issues in the news because that is part of their effing job. There is a time to march in lockstep, like when the walls are falling in on you, but they never learn.

AMERICAN XENAPHOHIA= 2O14 ELECTION WIN FOR GOP

  7. eliihass says:

Just watch, this republican takeover will be short lived; something is going to happen, you can just feel it. Yes, Democrats disappointed in more ways than one, but republicans resorted to some underhanded stuff that’ll be exposed sooner than later.

  8. Afternoon everyone.

  9. ‘I’m a Clinton Democrat’…In a base election…with a non white female electorate…who strongly supports the Potus..is HIGHLY offensive.

    • Liza says:

WTF is a Clinton Democrat, I wonder. Folks who say that need to go back and study that administration.

      • Translation…I don’t support the black guy. I support white Democrats.

      • Liza says:

Interesting. Well, if the so called “Clinton Democrats” think they can get anyone elected they might be surprised by how few supporters they have. The ignorant rednecks they want so badly are never going to vote for them.

      • Ametia says:

Maybe if they get down on their KNEES and ask Bubba to drop TROU—-, they’d get the lesson!

      • roderick2012 says:

SG2: Translation…I don’t support the black guy. I support white Democrats.

Having the Clintons campaign for her and refusing to answer whom she voted for in 2012 didn’t help Allison Grimes.

The only thing in the middle of the (political) road is roadkill.

How do those treadmarks feel, Allison?

  10. If non white women are the female electorate for the Democratic Party, you run a candidate that insults the popular Potus & the base? WTFF?

If you are running a base election and u piss of your base, ignore them while chasing red neck votes. .u get your ass kicked #Election2014

  12. rikyrah says:

You know, and I know the length of the utter crazy of the GOP. But, now, they will have to vote on their crazy.
    1. taking away Obamacare subsidies for millions – they gotta vote on it. put it on the record.
    2. voucherizing Medicaire – they gotta vote on it
    3. personhood – they gotta vote on it.
when I say that Harry Reid kept a lid on the crazy, I mean it.

there comes a time when you actually have to explain the insanity. a feritlized egg and taking away women’s birth control – there’s no glossing over that.

taking away the ability to have healthcare for your family – there’s no glossing over that.

and, I can’t wait for them to bring up the ‘ charges’ for Impeachment – what they will come up with, and force them to vote on it.

    • Ametia says:

      Tell the TRUTH.

    • Liza says:

Honestly, I don’t know where we go from here.

The Democratic Party is, as an aggregate, too stupid to take control and start framing the issues for 2016. They will keep their heads in their a$$es while right wing media takes over and rams their bullsh!t down everyone’s throat.

    • roderick2012 says:

      Co-sign, rikyrah.

Can you imagine McConnell trying to keep Joni Ernst and Cory Gardner in line and off the Sunday morning talk shows?

I think the Turtle may be screwed yet.

Voters reward radicalism as GOP scores big wins
    11/05/14 08:00 AM—UPDATED 11/05/14 08:06 AM
    By Steve Benen
Just two short years ago, President Obama cruised to an easier-than-expected national victory; Senate Democrats expanded their majority; and House Democratic candidate received a million more votes than their House Republican counterparts. The results led much of the political world to accept some basic truths.

Republicans, whether they liked it or not, would have to come up with some kind of coherent policy agenda. They’d have to stop alienating minority communities. They’d have to stop alienating women. They’d have to stop defining themselves by their contempt for the president. They’d have to try to govern. They’d have to stop creating dangerous, self-defeating crises on purpose. They’d have to start dealing with their demographic problems by reaching beyond the right-wing GOP base. They’d have to at least consider striking compromises on some key issues.

They’d have to honor the voters’ will, respect the fact that elections have consequences, and try to work in good faith with the Democrats who’d just won a national mandate.

These weren’t suggestions, so much as they were obvious, unavoidable certainties. The assumptions were foregone conclusions – if Republicans are to be a national party in the 21st century, they would have to pick themselves up, dust themselves off, learn from their failures, and grow up.

With all of this in mind, last night offered a powerful reminder: each of these precepts – literally, each and every one of them – was wrong. Republicans didn’t have to do any of these things. They didn’t need to govern or compromise. They didn’t need to keep the government open or pass bills.

Don’t think this election wasn’t RIGGED, because it WAS RIGGED. Voters turned out.

    *LOOKING@ROBERTS’ COURT*

    • eliihass says:

It was rigged. Pure and simple. Nobody was watching and they knew it. Notice how it all came down to 55% for just about every last one of their people. No way Scott Walker beat Mary Burke by those margins or Perdue, Michelle Nunn. No way!!! Even the old guy Pat Roberts in Kansas looked shell-shocked that he won – and by those margins!!! Joni Ernst was even supposedly winning solidly Democratic neighborhoods!!!

All night it kept coming to me, there was nothing kosher about these elections. Nothing. It was the Hackable Diebold voting machines at work:

      http://www.salon.com/2011/09/27/votinghack/

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/22/electronic-voting-machines-2012_n_1992992.html.

It was supposed to happen in 2012 too, but the Obama campaign was way too smart and the technology gurus for the campaign preempted it. That was what was up with Karl Rove that night!!! Where was Anonymous last night??

    • They didn’t in my neighborhood unless they came out after 5pm. My girlfriend went in the morning and she said it was empty. It was empty when I went in and those election workers looked like they were falling asleep.
