Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said the city would be happy to have the Department of Justice investigate its police force, as both the department and FBI look into possible civil-rights violations. Rawlings-Blake said brutality complaints against police are down and that the entire force will be equipped with body cameras by next year. “We have seen results from these efforts,” Rawlings-Blake said of what has already been done.

Loretta Lynch’s visit comes after the state’s attorney laid felony charges against six police officers involved in Gray’s death. Vowing police reform in Baltimore, new U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch visited the city Tuesday and met with Freddie Gray’s family as well as Maryland officials. Since Freddie Gray’s death April 19, people in Baltimore have taken to the streets to demand justice for the youth and vent their frustrations against what they call a racist policing system. Last Monday, protests heated up after weeks of no one being held accountable for death of 25-year-old Gray. Baltimore mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, responded by imposing a curfew and calling in the National Guard. “This is a flashpoint situation,” Lynch told a group of officials after a private meeting with the Gray family. “We lost a young man’s life and it begins to represent so many things.” On this, her first visit to the city as attorney general, Lynch is holding meetings with city officials, members of Congress, law enforcement officials and faith and community leaders in Baltimore, and will be accompanied by the head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.

  5. Baltimore Cop Admits Police Plotting to Depose Mayor After Having to “Stand Down” to the “Animals”.

Baltimore, Md. – On Thursday, a man who identified himself as an active Baltimore police officer named “Jeff” claimed that he and fellow officers were formulating plans to oust the elected mayor of Baltimore.

The announcement was made on a Baltimore radio show. “There is right now over 50 of us officers who are immediately asking for [Baltimore Mayor] Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to step down for what she did to us Monday,” the caller told WBAL radio.

“Jeff” alleged that there was an ever-growing movement within the Baltimore Police Department to sack the mayor.

“Our numbers are growing of officers. We have black, white, female, Hispanic and other officers who are joining this movement now to get her out of office,” he told WBAL Radio.

One of the major precipitating factors, according to the caller, was the mayor’s handling of the riots. He claimed that officers could have put down problems before they began.

“The moment it started, we could have ended it. Trust you me. They would not let us. It’s on the mayor’s shoulders now for the people who were injured, the buildings that were burnt, and the officers that were hurt. The city may never recover from what she let happen,” the caller said.

The mayor’s office claims that there was no “stand down” order given and that the media misinterpreted her comments about providing “space” for protesters.

We have been asleep, people. When did we ever let police get to this point of thinking they couldn’t be touched for committing heinous crimes against the very citizens they were sworn to protect?

WASHINGTON — Marilyn Mosby walked up to a podium surrounded by TV cameras on Friday morning and dropped a bomb: At her direction, the city of Baltimore is charging six police officers with crimes including second-degree murder, manslaughter and assault in the death of Freddie Gray.

Gray, a 25-year-old black man, died last month after suffering a spine injury while in police custody. There was no clear reason for his arrest, and until Friday, there were no clear answers about what happened to him. In the weeks since his death, questions have only grown, protests have broken out around the country and the Baltimore police accused Gray of intentionally trying to hurt himself.

Mosby, the state’s attorney for the region, shut it all down on Friday.

Woman Arrested In Baltimore Details “Traumatizing” Jail Conditions

An 18-year-old Baltimore college student who was arrested during Monday’s demonstrations told BuzzFeed News that detainees were packed into cells, mocked, and held in terrible conditions.
    posted on May 1, 2015, at 6:40 p.m.

Saucha Robinson said the worst moment of being jailed during the unrest that hit Baltimore overnight Monday was when guards unleashed pepper spray to subdue two people who were fighting somewhere outside their cell.

“It started going into all of the cells,” the 18-year-old college student said. “Everybody was choking and there was nothing we could do.”

Later, a woman in her cell started to have an asthma attack. As Robinson helped lay her down, the other detainees started banging on the metal door to get the guard’s attention. One of the guards who came up to the window said “What do you want us to do about it?” as the woman turned red, Robinson recalled.

The guards asked the woman to come to the window, but she was unable to on her own, Robinson said. After being helped up to the window, she was put on an oxygen mask.

I believe black women are the real threat to white supremacy in the U.S., vl. While many whites have been trying to keep black males down and under their control, we’ve been educating ourselves and preparing to take this issue on, and it all happened under their very noses. Never underestimate the intelligence and will of a strong woman, especially a strong black woman. We’ve had excellent role models right in our homes all of our lives who have been pushing us to educate ourselves and reach for the stars. AG Lynch, Ms. Mosby, and Ms. Rawlings-Blake are only the beginning.
