Dylann Roof sat down in a church with the congregants, prayed with them, and then he opened fire, spewing hate about blacks raping white women and taking over America. Pure hate, and unadulterated EVIL.

Keeping that d*mn confederate flag flying over the capitol, Haley posing with her gun to get elected/reelected, authorizing the state to sell car tags celebrating the “War of Northern Aggression,” Lindsey Graham saying in 2010 that he can’t vote for the ACA because there are too many blacks in SC who would benefit from the law, disenfranchising millions of their state’s own citizens, etc., etc., are big red signs indicating that they and most of their citizens believe that being white is superior to being a member of any other race, and that they think and believe that only whites should always have the right to run SC. Haley is now saying that SC citizens’ have “awakened” today. BS. She and her rw buddies have known all along that the sh*t they’ve been saying and doing has been divisive and hateful. What has caught them by surprise is that someone was listening, believed everything they said, and decided to use their preferred weapon of choice to show he is a true believer in the superiority of white people. These idjits aren’t sorry or embarrassed by what Roof did, not in the least. They’re the ringleaders in promoting this sh*t. Instead of faking sorrow in front of every camera they can find, they should show their true feelings and throw a huge party in front of the state capitol while they prostrate themselves before the confederate flag they claim to love so much and pledge allegiance to it.     I’m not only upset, I’m angry at Fox News and the right-wingers for their role in making it acceptable again for racists to gain legitimacy. Today, the Fox News talkers are calling this a crime against Christianity. Hell, no! This is a race-based terrorist attack. The Fox News talkers are trying to distance themselves from their handiwork. What did they expect, after playing the race card constantly after January 20, 2009? It couldn’t have been rainbows and balloons. The only reason Fox is trying to distance itself from this race-based terrorist attack is because its employees want to deny the role they’ve played in promoting racism and divisiveness. They own this. They own the whole hog, and it’s too late for them to pretend that they had nothing to do with it. I read a post on Crooks and Liars about the comments on the Fox News site. They are horrible and run the gamut from expecting black Charlestonians to riot to blaming PBO. Fox has so thoroughly brainwashed some individuals that they are incapable of independent thought.

    Nikki Haley crying over this is an insult to us, especially since we know she’s never missed an opportunity to demonize PBO and marginalize blacks, Hispanics/Latinos, LGBTQ persons, and others who happen to disagree with GOP/TPers. She can save her crocodile tears for someone who gives a d*mn because I, and millions of others, don’t care. We know it’s an act meant for the cameras. She owns this, too, for failing to stand up for all SC citizens and for taking part in making sure that racism is alive and well in SC.

    I had to “unfriend” a former student on Facebook a couple years back because since he moved to SC, he has bought into the racism, hatred, and bigotry. He also pissed me off when he tried to attack and ridicule me for contributing to PBO’s reelection campaign in 2012. There are just some things one doesn’t/shouldn’t do. After I “unfriended” him, he had his mom, who is also one of my Facebook friends, write me to ask why I “unfriended” him. He also tried to reach me through a common Facebook friend to ask why I dropped him from my friends list. I did not respond to either. The reason I “unfriended” him was because I was sick and tired of him questioning the president’s Christianity. I take my Christianity seriously, and I read my Bible, so I know that the only one with the power to decide who belongs to him is God. I could never post anything about the president being a Christian without my former student criticizing it. He’s had much time to think of why I “unfriended” him, but I think he has yet to figure it out. He’s clueless, just as are millions on the right today who don’t understand how their words and actions led to the deaths of nine innocent individuals at Emanuel AME in Charleston last night. Make no mistake—-they own this, lock, stock, and barrel.

    This is a tragic manifestation of what I have been talking about for a while now. I know I can be blunt and do not prefer to sugar coat the realities as I see them, so my comments concerning the plague of white supremacy in this country may have made some folks uncomfortable, but I welcome reasoned fact based debate (if what I say triggers your defense mechanism, you should ask yourself why). I know I am not alone in “feeling” or “sensing” that the racism against Black people in this country has been on the rise the past several years. PBO’s reelection was confirmation to many of these racists that they had indeed lost “their” America. In came the spread of laws designed to make it harder for Black people to vote. The media became more and more racist, giving Rudy Guilliani and others a platform to preach hate to throngs of pissed off white folks. Then the spike in state sanctioned murder of unarmed AAs by the police, with the media relishing its role as Devil’s advocate (they never met a cop they didn’t like and never met a Black victim they wouldn’t smear).

    In the political realm we had/have a large segment of the Democratic establishment lusting after white working class voters who (in a generational sense) abandoned the Dems because LBJ effectively ended de jure apartheid in the United States. They left the party due to it’s failure to adhere sufficiently to the doctrine of white supremacy, and Dem candidates for president want them back. Let that sink in. It is clear that the Dems will not challenge their racism, since racism is over in America, so says Bernie Sanders. So what actions will they take to go after the racist vote? Will it be Bernie Sanders blatant disrespect of African-Americans? Will Hillary revert to her 2008 version when times get tough (or maybe she can pick up trick from Elizabeth and call all Black folks “sexists” for not supporting her candidacy). I struggle for solutions, but the first step is to acknowledge the reality of the situation. White racism against Black people is not a problem Black folks can solve (at least not peacefully). All we can do is point it out to those who are not forced to personally endure its (negative) manifestations in everyday life in America (and hope they “believe” us. Hope they will one day SEE us).

      There is still not too much known about him. But it looks like he hasn’t gone past ninth grade and he’s not employed anywhere. Someone, maybe one of his divorced parents, is supporting him. And his father buys him a gun.

      I have my doubts that he was planning to do this for six months. What I think is more likely is that he was speaking this white supremacy trash talk to his friends and talked about killing black people in a general way. He was communicating with white supremacists somewhere, probably online, but who knows where? But it can’t be pure coincidence that he targeted the church and just happened to kill a black pastor who is also a state legislator and a well known activist. He had a plan, but I don’t think the plan was six months in the making. I think that the catalyzing events were more recent, Walter Scott’s murder, the killer cop being indicted, Rev Pinckney’s activism, and the gun being gifted to him by his father. You can imagine that the racists were in an uproar.

      I suspect that he fantasized about doing something LIKE this for quite awhile, but I believe the actual triggers are recent events and the gun sealed the deal. And he may have accomplices, someone or some group may have provided information and direction. The more I think about it, the more I believe he was having conversations recently, certainly in the last couple of months. Just my opinion…

        People with his mindset and racist point of view abound. His is now the default perspective amongst so many white people – educated and uneducated alike. The resentment morphed into hate is very strong.

        Right now, there are so many who still don’t get it, who even in light of these brutal murders, still cling to their resentments, validate Dylann Roof and his actions, and think they and Roof are the real victims, and that they’ve been justifiably driven to this violent ‘response’, by black people and their ‘provocative’ actions.

        Those ‘provocative’ actions being, just being black and having the nerve to just be – and to live in the White House.

    The suspected gunman who massacred nine people inside a historic black South Carolina church Wednesday got a gun for his 21st birthday in April and bragged last week about his plans to “kill a bunch of people,” sources said.

    Police reportedly caught Dylann Storm Roof in North Carolina Thursday, a day after the Bible study rampage at Charleston’s Mother Emanuel AME Church.

    The 21-year-old suspected gunman told his friends at the trailer park last week that he wanted to kill people at a local college — but no one took him seriously because of his deadpan sense of humor, his friend Christon Scriven told the Daily News.

    “He flat out told us he was going to do this stuff,” said Scriven. Roof moved close to the Lexington, S.C., trailer park about two months ago, he said.

    The Civil Rights division of the Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney’s office, and the FBI have opened a hate crime investigation into the shooting at a progressive black church that left nine dead Wednesday night. The shooting, carried out by a young white man who reportedly sat in Bible study for an hour before opening fire, was quickly identified by Charleston police as racially motivated.

    “There is no doubt in my mind that this is a hate crime,” Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen told the Post and Courier.

    But South Carolina is one of just five remaining states without a hate crime law.

      I just want all of my friends on here (and that is what you are) to know that Charleston, South Carolina is the home of my momma and daddy, nanny and pappy and all of my extended family members. Charleston, Mt. Pleasant and John’s Island are nearby towns in the area. I spent all of my summers there with my brothers and sisters and many Christmas Holidays there too. I was raised in NY, but my roots run deep there. This is personal and deep with me. My 80 year old momma resides there, along with her baby sister and other relatives. She is saddened and angry at the violence and the racism which is still so pervasive in this country. She remembers the days of Jim Crow only so well. The fact that this young woman in this photo hares the same last name as her own mother makes her wonder if this young woman is a cousin? When will it end America? I am beyond heartbroken by this violence once again, inflicted in a house of worship where people should be able to find some kind of sanctuary! Thank you for posting this photo of this accomplished young woman. She even resembles our family.

Clementa Pinckney, the South Carolina state senator who was reportedly killed during an attack at a historic black church Wednesday night, was a pioneering pastor who began preaching at 13 and was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives at 23, becoming the youngest African-American to be elected to the State Legislature.

    Mr. Pinckney, 41, was born in Beaufort, S.C., and found his calling at an early age. After gaining notice for his charisma and his commitment to the church as a young teenager, he became a pastor at 18.

    Mr. Pinckney became the pastor of the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston in 2010, at age 26, and also led Bible studies and prayer sessions there.

    Just days before he married in 1999, Mr. Pinckney told The Savannah Morning News that his fiancée, Jennifer, whom he met while in college, had been pivotal to his decision to pursue a political career.

    She “is my main supporter in my political life,” said Mr. Pinckney, who had two daughters, Eliana and Malana. “In fact, she was a major impact on my running. She knows how much politics and being involved and helping people mean to me. She said I’d be a fool not to run. She said, ‘Are you crazy? You better run.’ ”

    Born on July 30, 1973, to John and Theopia Pinckney, Mr. Pinckney graduated from Allen University in 1995 and obtained a master of public administration degree from the University of South Carolina as well as a master of divinity from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, according to the Emanuel church’s website.

In the community, in the African-American community, one person ought to say something and that is the minister. The minister is paid by the people. He doesn’t work for a big company. He doesn’t represent a particular special interest.”

    Mr. Pinckney was an impassioned advocate for human rights. As a state senator he campaigned for legislation requiring members of the police force to wear body cameras.

    He had recently been seeking to raise awareness about gun violence against African-American men and had led a rally after Walter L. Scott, an unarmed black man, was shot and killed by a white police officer in North Charleston, S.C.

      Rev. Pinckney was a pastor, a state legislator, and an activist. I believe that his assassination is rooted in the murder of Walter Scott. What we can only imagine is what was being said on right wing conservative talk radio about Scott’s murder and the indictment of the cop. Rev. Pinckney spoke out against the killing of black men, he led a rally after Scott was murdered, and he campaigned for body cameras for police. I suspect he was a hot topic on right wing conservative talk radio and other media where these white supremacists spread their hate and their message.

      This was clearly an assassination of a state representative and activist by a domestic terrorist. I suspect that Dylann Roof is a lone wolf, seething with hatred for quite some time, but only recently decided to plan an attack and this was largely influenced by having his own gun placed in his hands by his father just a couple of months ago. His birthday gift. He clearly wanted a massacre because of the level of media attention it would get as opposed to a single murder. He chose a historic site, a church where people would be vulnerable and unarmed.

        Yes, of course, he was indoctrinated in a multitude of ways from a multitude of sources. MSNBC has been talking about white supremacist groups but that is just one source. He didn’t have to be a member of any white supremacist group to be a white supremacist, so maybe they should branch out into other areas where people learn this kind of hatred and receive support from fellow haters. But that would take them everywhere, into all forms of media, because the haters are absolutely everywhere.

        I thought that he probably planned this attack by himself and carried it out by himself, hence the “lone wolf” designation, but now I’m beginning to wonder. He may have been recruited, he may have an accomplice(s).

    I think this hits home for so many reasons that are obvious. But, bottom line, this could have been our mother, our Grandmother, our Uncles, Grandfathers, Daddys. How many of us have dropped off family members or friends at Bible Study, told them, ‘I have to run an errand, but I’ll be back to get you.’ How many of us would think twice if Mama or Grandma told you, ‘ Oh, I’ll just take the baby with me to Bible Study’. It would never occur to us that this would happen. Not only that, but not one of us is surprised that they welcomed this young man into Bible Study with them, because we know that’s what they would do.

    I just can’t with the phuckery today. I have no patience for it
