Leon was born in Houston, Texas on February 11th, 1942. After an inauspicious childhood he made his way into the entertainment world in the early 1960’s as part of Big
Jay McNeely’s band. It was Jay who arranged for him to record his first single, “Without A Love,” on the small Swingin’ record label. After that, he joined Sam Cooke’s band
as a keyboardist until the singer’s untimely death.
He had his first charting single in 1965 with “She’s With Her Other Love” on the Imperial label. He was then part of two session groups organized by Los Angeles disc
jockey Magnificent Montague which issued the instrumental hits “Hole In The Wall” (1965) under the moniker of The Packers, and “Precious Memories” (1967) as The
Romeos.
In 1967, Leon had his first solo hit with “It’s Got To Be Mellow” on the Decca label. He continued to play on further recording sessions with The Packers and Dyke And
The Blazers, before returning to recording under his own name. He found only sporadic success, most notably with “Keep It In The Family.” With a number of labels he
released a variety of singles but none caught the publics attention and he went largely unnoticed.
By 1974 the 32 year old was ready for a change, disco was emerging and Leon grabbed on to the sound for his first 12″ single for his new label 20th Century Fox Records.
“I Wanta Do Something Freaky To You” became an instant club smash and set the tone for the next decade of his career. He followed that album with one more for the
label and then disappeared for a few years.

All these 2016 candidates need to go back and study as many Obama 2008 related interviews, speeches, everything! They’ll understand the difference between Candidate Obama and them. The man and his wife had a vision. They had a solid plan that arose not from just wanting to inhabit the the presidency and live in the White House, but to really make a difference in ordinary people’s lives. To even out the playing field.
You can’t choreograph or poll-test your way to people’s hearts – or to the White House for that matter. Authenticity makes all the difference. When you feel it deeply and honestly, it shows.

Lauryn Hill No-Show At St. Tropez Show

Lauryn Hill is back in the news once again this week after she has allegedly missed a scheduled gig on Wednesday at the Citadelle fort overlooking the Rivera harbor in St. Tropez. Unfortunately, this news follows a string of missed and canceled shows, which include those in Tel Aviv and Nigeria.
Earlier this month ‘The Fugees’ singer allegedly canceled a show in London and wrote a statement to her fans via Facebook, “I’ve been informed that I won’t be able to enter the UK for a period of time due to my past legal situation.”
According to Page Six News, neither Hill nor the organizers of the concert gave any good reason for her no-show before a sold-out audience in St. Tropez. Although the 40-year-old musician didn’t make the scheduled appearance at the Citadelle fort, she did put on an impromptu show at the exclusive VIP Room nightclub which is also located in the South of France.

There will never be a way to know the true number of people that were abused and murdered in this manner. Rubio: ‘More Scalias and less Sotomayors’

On the campaign trail last week, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) turned his attention to the U.S. Supreme Court, which he sees, correctly, as one of the key issues in the 2016 presidential race.
“We apparently have five justices on the Supreme Court today that have forgotten the proper role of the Supreme Court. They view themselves as Super Legislators – basically the supervisors of the republic. They invent rights, they, they find and are basically writing law. The job of the Supreme Court is not to create law, it’s to interpret the Constitution as originally constructed and applied.
“The next president of the United States must nominate Supreme Court justices that believe in the original intent of the Constitution and apply that. We need more Scalias and less Sotomayors.”
Looking past some of the grammatical errors, Rubio’s ideological case is dubious. For example, Justice Antonin Scalia has become an alarming laughingstock, and the idea of filling the high court with more justices cut from the same cloth is rather terrifying.

Did Rand Paul enter the witness-protection program?

About a month ago, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) announced a new stunt: the senator would, in his official capacity, sue the Internal Revenue Service. As p.r. gambits go, it seemed pretty silly, but this is exactly the sort of maneuver Paul has repeatedly exploited for attention and fundraising.
Show of hands: how many of you heard about this anti-IRS lawsuit last month? Chances are, most of you didn’t – Paul has made a splash with various press stunts in recent years, but this one was largely ignored. The Republican presidential candidate has a shtick and for some, it’s getting a little stale.
Of course, it’s not just the ineffective schemes; Paul’s support has also faded recently in national Republican polling – he’ll have no trouble qualifying for GOP debates, but at least for now, few see him as a top-tier contender. As the bulk of the political world’s attention turns to other candidates, I’ve heard jokes about Rand Paul maintaining such a low profile that he’s presumably entered the witness protection program.
The Lexington Herald-Leader’s Sam Youngman explained the other day that the “reality of presidential politics is seeping in, and the limitations of what was always a long-shot strategy are coming into focus.”
The long and short of all of this is that Paul is stuck, afraid of alienating core GOP voters while trying to woo independents he might never get the chance to face.
Or put another way: When he tries to lure the independents who are disgusted by the comments of Bundy or Trump, he risks losing Republican primary voters who see truth in both.
The result is milquetoast responses to the issues of the day that leave “the most interesting man in politics” not really all that interesting.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) caused a stir last week, arguing that the Boy Scouts shouldn’t change its policy banning gay adult leaders. The status quo, Walker said, has “protected children.”
The Republican presidential candidate walked that back a bit a day later, but on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), another 2016 White House hopeful, embraced the anti-gay argument without hesitation. ThinkProgress reported:
Meet the Press’ Chuck Todd asked Perry, who served as the governor of Texas from 2000 – 2015, whether his views on openly gay scout leaders had changed since 2008, when he wrote that “openly active gays, particularly advocates, present a problem. Because gay activism is central to their lives, it would unavoidably be a topic of conversation within a Scout troop. This would distract from the mission of Scouting; character building, not sex education.”
Perry said he still stood by that statement. “I believe that scouting would be better off if they didn’t have openly gay Scout masters,” he said.\

Also yesterday morning, CNN’s Dana Bash asked Walker if he believes sexual orientation is a choice. “I don’t know,” the Wisconsin Republican replied. “I don’t know the answer to that question. So, I’m saying I don’t know what the answer to that is.”

Trump has no regrets after smearing McCain’s service

Last week, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) made clear how unimpressed he is with Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump. The candidate is firing up “the crazies,” McCain said, adding that Trump has “galvanized” a “very extreme element” within the Republican Party.
As msnbc’s Benjy Sarlin reported over the weekend, Trump fired back during an appearance at a major GOP event in Iowa, which in turn may have put his newfound position as a Republican leader in jeopardy,
“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said during an onstage Q&A at the conservative Family Leadership Summit, an event that features a number of Republican presidential contenders. “He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, okay?”
Perhaps realizing he had gone too far – even for him – Trump followed up by saying “perhaps he’s a war hero” before repeating his criticism of McCain’s academic record in the U.S. Naval Academy over five decades ago.
There are many in the GOP who’ve been eager to condemn Trump, but who’ve hesitated, unwilling to risk alienating the candidate’s nativist supporters. But Trump’s ugly rhetoric about McCain’s military service offered Republicans an excuse to go after the candidate with a vengeance.
Party officials and candidates quickly – and at times, ferociously – denounced Trump and his line of attack. Even the Republican National Committee, which has treated Trump’s racist incidents with kid gloves, said in an official statement, “There is no place in our party or our country for comments that disparage those who have served honorably.”

Barack Obama is not a modest man, but when it comes to assessing his or any president’s place in the long American story, he has been heard to say, “We just try to get our paragraph right.” Yet the way a raft of recent events have broken sharply in his favor, Obama suddenly seems well on his way to writing a whole page—or at least a big, fat passage—in the history books.
From the Supreme Court decisions upholding his signature health care plan and the right of gay Americans to marry, to contested passage of fast track trade authority, the opening of normal diplomatic relations with Cuba and an international agreement to curtail Iran’s nuclear weapons program, Obama is on a policy and political roll that would have seem unimaginable to many in Washington only a few months ago.
“Obama may be singular as a president, not only because of his striking background,” says Kenneth Adelman, who was Ronald Reagan’s arms control negotiator with the Soviets three decades ago, and who has his doubts about the Iran deal. “It may turn out that unlike virtually any other president, his second term is actually better than his first.”…
“It is a measure of the times in which we live that we start the legacy discussion a year and a half before the end of a presidency,” says David Axelrod, Obama’s former longtime strategist. “But he’s had the most productive period he’s enjoyed since the first two years: Cuba, the climate agreement with China, action on immigration, fast track on trade, the SCOTUS decisions on health care and marriage and now this agreement on Iran. These are big, historically significant developments, in most cases the culmination of years of commitment on his part.”…
…[T]ime and again, Obama has proven himself patient and willing to play what he likes to call the long game, or what Axelrod summed up as “the determination to resist small, incremental politics to do big, transformational things.”
The president’s former chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau, notes that almost all of Obama’s recent successes had their origins in things he said and did long ago, including his insistence in a 2007 primary debate that it was worth talking even to enemies (an assertion that many commentators saw as a gaffe at the time) and his 2008 Philadelphia speech on race (which he made over the nervous objections of some of his advisers).
“This is the long game paying off,” Favreau says. “Most critically, he understood that change on all of these issues would come at a slower and more gradual pace than the perpetual hysterics in Washington would demand. When it came time to actually govern, he put the history books ahead of the news cycles, and our politics will be better off if future presidents follow his example—because the thousands of words written since the midterms about how resigned and defeated Obama is now seem as insightful as the comments section of a blog.”…

You know I love shit like this. They want their country back but don’t even know their own country’s grammatical rules. Your and you’re are different. this is a problem. The kids nowadays are not challenged,they are coddled, have a huge sense of entitlement and are increasingly selfish. Education is key, but it’s the first thing people put no investment in. Have u seen a U.S. History book lately? Ugh is all I can say. Apathy is a big thing. Inability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and parents who are mad at Obama and addicted to faux news and voila, forever racist.

— Cuba’s embassy in Washington officially reopened at midnight after being closed for five decades. There will be a flag raising ceremony later this morning with 500 guests, including a 30-member delegation of Cubans. The foreign minister is scheduled to meet with John Kerry later today. Kerry is slated to go to Havana next month to raise our flag over the U.S. Interests Section.
