rose royceRose Royce is an American soul and R&B group. They are best known for several hit singles during the 1970s including “Car Wash,” “I Wanna Get Next to You,” “I’m Going Down“, “Wishing on a Star“, and “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore”

The Los Angeles-based group originally comprised Henry Garner (drums), Terral “Terry” Santiel (congas), Lequeint “Duke” Jobe (bass), Michael Moore (saxophone), Kenny Copeland (trumpet, lead vocals), Kenji Brown (guitar, lead vocals), Freddie Dunn (trumpet), and Victor Nix (keyboards). The group began in the early 1970s, when members of several backup bands from the Watts and Inglewood areas of Los Angeles united under the name Total Concept Unlimited. In 1973, this collective toured England and Japan behind Motown soul star Edwin Starr. Starr introduced them to Norman Whitfield, Motown‘s ‘psychedelic shaman’ who was responsible for bringing a progressive funk-rock slant to the company, via such productions as Starr’s “War“, The Undisputed Truth‘s “Smiling Faces Sometimes” and The Temptations‘ “Papa Was A Rolling Stone“.

Whitfield, after a decade at Motown, wanted to start a company of his own. He took the T.C.U. octet under his wing and signed them to his label. The group, now called Magic Wand, began working with Yvonne Fair and became the studio and concert band for The Undisputed Truth. During a tour stop in Miami, Undisputed Truth leader Joe Harris stumbled upon a singer named Gwen Dickey, then a member of a local group called The Jewels. Harris informed Whitfield of his discovery and Dickey was flown to Los Angeles to audition. In Dickey, Whitfield found the ingredient he felt was missing in Magic Wand: a charismatic female singer. He gave her the stage name Rose Norwalt. The original band lineup, now complete, prepared their debut album.

      Roland Martin’s tweet is so true. A few years ago, a white female student who had just graduated from law school went missing her in Macon, GA. Our mayor, who has ignored every missing/dead black female since he took office, took to the airwaves to make many statements about how he would find her. The reason he did this was because the missing law graduate was a law school classmate of his daughter. It turned out that one of her white male fellow law graduates had killed her, cut up her body, and disposed of it in different parts of the city. They never found her whole body. The guy that killed her lived in the same apartment complex and had a secret crush on her. He waited until the day of his trial to plead guilty.

    Collapsed I-10 bridge given an ‘A’ rating just last year

    A remote desert bridge that collapsed during heavy weekend rains, severing Interstate 10 and leaving thousands of drivers scrambling for detours, was given an A rating just last year.

    Inspectors gave the eastbound portion of the Tex Wash Bridge a “sufficiency rating” of 91.5 out of 100, according to the Federal Highway Administration. The 48-year-old bridge also had one of the highest possible flood safety ratings, which means it should have withstood even the heaviest rainfall.

    And then, on Sunday, more than 5 inches of rain fell in the open desert east of the Coachella Valley. Rushing water flooded into the wash beneath the bridge and ate away at the dirt around the foundations. Eventually, one end of the eastbound lanes cracked free of the highway and tumbled to the desert floor, cutting the primary route between Arizona and Southern California.

    Almost immediately after Donald Trump’s controversial remarks about Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) military service, Republican officials denounced the criticism in a specific way. “There is no place in our party or our country for comments that disparage those who have served honorably,” the Republican National Committee said in an official statement.

    The problem, of course, is that Republicans appear to apply that principle selectively. In 2004, John Kerry faced ridiculous lies about his heroic military service, and at the time, GOP leaders saw great political value in smearing a decorated war veteran.

    Take Jeb Bush, for example. In January 2005, the day before his brother’s second inaugural, the Florida governor wrote a letter to the “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth” ringleader, expressing his appreciation for the smear campaign. Celebrating the “Swifties,” as Jeb Bush called them, the Republican wrote to retired Col. Bud Day, “Please let them know that I am personally appreciative of their service to our nation. As someone who truly understands the risk of standing up for something, I simply cannot express in words how much I value their willingness to stand up against John Kerry.”

    In this case, “stand up to” was apparently a euphemism for “tell lies about.”

    And yet, a decade later, Bush is now disgusted by Trump’s rhetoric about John McCain’s service. Why is the former governor comfortable with ugly attacks that smeared one decorated veteran but not another? Here’s what Bush’s campaign spokesperson told CNN’s Jake Tappe yesterdayr:
    “We reject the entire premise. A thank you letter to Col. Bud Day, Medal of Honor winner and Air Force Cross recipient, twice captured as a POW, is not in any way analogous to condemning Donald Trump’s slanderous attack on John McCain.”

    There are a couple of problems with the response.

    Bernie Sanders and the Liberal Establishment’s Colossal Failure on Race

    This quantifies the massive failure of the Liberal activist establishment on race. Again and again, the predominantly white Leftist establishment – and their current hero candidate Bernie Sanders – have focused on issues of income inequality as the central tenet of America’s problem, delegating racial injustice to a sideline issue. Furthermore, they have pretended that if we only address economic inequality, racial injustice will go away on its own. As evidence, they point to the disproportionate number of ethnic minorities who are also economically disadvantaged.

    But Michael Brown, Eric Garner and Sandra Bland were not walking around with their tax returns printed on their foreheads; they were black. A wannabe cop in Florida didn’t get away with the murder of an annual income; Trayvon Martin died a black teenager who went to the 7-11 to buy skittles. A white supremacist didn’t walk into a South Carolina church and slaughter 9 people in the house of God because they made too little money; he killed them because they were black.

    Race – and institutional, structural racism – is at the center of social inequities in America. Our candidates need to understand that Trayvon Martin will never be able to attend college for that free tuition Bernie Sanders is talking about. Our candidates need to grieve the fact that Sandra Bland will never have a shot at breaking the glass ceiling at her dream job, and it won’t be because of some evil trade pact. Our candidates need to realize that the threat to black lives is an existential one, and no amount of hammering the banks will resolve that threat.

      Is this concept really so hard to grasp. It is our skin color that gets us killed, not our accomplishments. Ask the President of the United States if his accomplishments are deemed enough. A look around twitter and msm should answer that. It’s the fact that he’s black that has racism rearing it’s ugly head. White people’s fears and tears flooding the country with ugly sentiments and selfish words and actions. If you want to know who’s destroying the US, there is your answer. Contain the flood.

    A Florida community is up in arms after a beloved toll booth worker was allegedly fired recently for paying drivers’ tolls with his own money, according to reports.

    Vladislav “Sam” Samsonov, 77, told reporters that he lost his job last week after working for the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority near Boca Grande, Fl. for almost 30 years.

    “He broke the rules by putting $5.50 into the cash register from his pocket after he realized he missed a trailer being pulled by a vehicle and wanted his register to balance with the axel counts and was caught on tape putting money from his pocket into the register,” a woman named Patricia Samsonov Gillis, who identified herself as Sam’s daughter, wrote on Facebook.

    Gillis said Samsonov had been reprimanded before for paying tolls using his own money. Samsonov was popular with customers because he handed out lollypops to children and dog bones to pets, according to reports.
