Democrat Declared Winner in Deadlocked Mississippi Election After Pulling a Green Straw Out of a Bag
By Elaine Godfrey
Democratic incumbent Blaine Eaton II was named the winner in a key Mississippi House race Friday after the contest reached a peculiar climax: A mathematically improbable tie forced candidates to draw straws — yes, actual straws — to determine the winner.
Eaton and his Republican challenger, Mark Tullos, each received exactly 4,589 votes in the election to the state’s House of Representatives earlier this month. According to state law, the winner had to be determined “by lot,” meaning, in this case, by the candidates blindly drawing either a green winning straw or a red losing straw from a bag, the New York Timesreports.

A straight up KKK Rally masquerading as a Presidential campaign rally. Trump supporters attacked a protester, kicked & beat on him while others in the background egged the racists on.

New state Supreme Court justice, Natalie E. Hudson, sworn in
Judge Natalie Hudson received a standing ovation after she was sworn in Friday. On the left was Gov. Mark Dayton and on the right Hudson’s son Kobie Hudson.
Natalie E. Hudson took the state’s judicial oath Friday, pledging to ensure all Minnesotans have access to the courts and becoming the second black woman to serve on the Minnesota Supreme Court.
“How we treat those on the margins of society, those with no lobbying group, says volumes about our character and values as a judicial system,” Hudson, 58, said during the swearing-in ceremony at St. Paul’s Landmark Center.
The ceremony marked a milestone in Hudson’s career, which has spanned academia and both the private and public sector — as a prosecutor and judge. She has also served as a dean at the Hamline Law School.

Been waiting on you. One of the Baltimore officers’ trial charged in Freddie Gray’s death starts Nov 30th. We need our prayer warrior to lift up Marilyn Mosby in prayer as she seeks justice for Freddie Gray!
Sure thing , Southern. Father in Jesus Name I do strongly lift up Ms. Mosby concerning justice for Freddie Gray. Lord, have Your Powerful Hand on her and not only her but her family and Mr. Gray’s family. God, please give her the right sound mind and keen strategies to win this historic battle. In pleading Jesus’ Blood covering this, give her courage, peace of mind, strength, stamina and persistence to complete this goal. Protect her in every way shape and form. Let the ministering Spirits be there to protect her and gird them all up. Bless her team, Lord and let this outcome be right and just. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Prayers for Ms. Mosby and her family.

The G.O.P. Establishment Has a Big New Hampshire Problem
NOV. 19, 2015
The last two Republican presidential primary contests have followed the same script: A conservative candidate wins in Iowa, a relative moderate wins in New Hampshire, and the latter — with broader appeal and all of the establishment’s resources — outlasts the former in a protracted fight for the nomination.
But so far this cycle, New Hampshire’s voters aren’t playing along. Donald Trump has led every poll in New Hampshire since June. Candidates like Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush have struggled to get out of the single digits.
The weakness of mainstream candidates in New Hampshire poses a big challenge for the party’s beleaguered establishment. If a candidate acceptable to the party can’t win New Hampshire or Iowa, the G.O.P. will face a bleak choice: undertake the daunting and expensive task of mounting a come-from-behind effort, or grudgingly acquiesce to a candidate it really doesn’t want, like Ted Cruz, but who may be better than someone it can never accept, like Mr. Trump.

I don’t know who will win Governor of Louisiana tonight but..
Even if the Dem loses, he will be able to say to himself that he brought it. That he brought a gun to a gun fight. He was not playing with Vitter, and did not pretend that he was playing with him. He should have no regrets, cause he beat DAT AZZ continuously throughout this campaign.
TEE HEE HEE Liza, wehre are you?
Jindal Returns Seventy Dollars Raised for Presidential Campaign
BY ANDY BOROWITZ
ATON ROUGE (The Borowitz Report)—Just days after withdrawing from the 2016 Presidential race, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal said that he would return the seventy dollars raised by his campaign.
Speaking to reporters in Baton Rouge, Jindal said he was proud that his campaign war chest “came entirely from small donors.”
“This wasn’t a campaign financed by fat cats,” he said. “We raised all of our funds from nine small donors, for an average of $7.78 per donor.”
He bemoaned the high costs of running a political campaign in the current environment, however, and acknowledged that his staff was never able to acquire the replacement toner cartridge that they needed.

Ha ha, Borowitz is too funny. Jindal really does seem to appeal to no one.

Who Turned My
Blue State Red?
Why poor areas vote for politicians
who want to slash the safety net.
By ALEC MacGILLISNOV. 20, 2015
IT is one of the central political puzzles of our time: Parts of the country that depend on the safety-net programs supported by Democrats are increasingly voting for Republicans who favor shredding that net.
In his successful bid for the Senate in 2010, the libertarian Rand Paul railed against “intergenerational welfare” and said that “the culture of dependency on government destroys people’s spirits,” yet racked up winning margins in eastern Kentucky, a former Democratic stronghold that is heavily dependent on public benefits. Last year, Paul R. LePage, the fiercely anti-welfare Republican governor of Maine, was re-elected despite a highly erratic first term — with strong support in struggling towns where many rely on public assistance. And earlier this month, Kentucky elected as governor a conservative Republican who had vowed to largely undo the Medicaid expansion that had given the state the country’s largest decrease in the uninsured under Obamacare, with roughly one in 10 residents gaining coverage.

As I’m surfing the net, and watching the DVR, I hear the kids from next door playing in the backyard.
Sounds good to me…hearing Black children just allowed to be children and enjoy the first snow of the season.
Ah, to be that young and carefree….
sigh…
No snow here, but 25 degrees & sunny. I’m grateful though
LOL We have become spoiled. October was the warmest on record.
First snow of the season.

Good Morning, Dear Chics. Rikyrah, I hope you are staying safe and warm. If we were having that storm in Cincinnati I would be going nowhere (motto: “If it’s snowin’, I ain’t goin'”). This applies to flakes as well as blizzards. You would never know that I lived in Mennesota for 6 years.
Hi Kathleen, Arctic blast headed our way. Temps are going to be in the 30’s tomorrow. Guess I’ll have to get my snow boots out. *lookingatRikyrahandAmetia*
How to Get Away With Murder Fans:
I watch yotube reviewers of the show, and this was the best comment:
excerpt:
Yes! HTGAWM is very Gothic. I wish I understood the very last scene – the flashback to the little boy. I’m old and slow and sometimes I can’t keep up with the action (same with Scandal).
But doesn’t Viola Davis tear it up! No one like her on prime time.
tell it to the POLICE!!

At Home in Chatham: A Bounty of Mid-Century Modern on the South Side, Where the African-American Elite Once “Strutted Their Stuff”
By Krisann Rehbein
The conversation about preserving mid-century buildings is growing by the day. Generally defined as the era after World War II and through the late 1960s, these buildings are now old enough to be eligible for historic designation—and seem to be getting their just due. Landmarks Illinois, the state’s leading organization for historic preservation, put a select number of mid-century homes on their annual list of “most endangered” buildings this year. And recently, the City of Chicago’s Commission on Chicago Landmarks voted unanimously to grant landmark status to Bertrand Goldberg’s iconic corn cob towers, Marina City.
On the South Side, a significant collection of mid-century homes are worth adding to the conversation. Located in Chatham, these architecturally significant homes tell a story of the city’s twentieth-century black economic and cultural elite.
Chatham—bordered by 79th Street to the north, 87th Street to the south, King Drive to the east and State Street to the west—is striking. Its blocks are filled with bungalows, Georgian revivals, and other solid brick homes. Residential streets are completely uniform, with each house set back exactly the same distance from the sidewalk, creating a visually harmonious streetscape. Block clubs organize the purchase of the distinctive globe street lamps that line front yards. The large front lawns and wide parkways create a feeling of urban regality.
Roosevelt University history professor Christopher Robert Reed is an expert on twentieth-century African-American Chicago. In the early part of the 1900s, he explains, African-Americans had been living in cramped conditions and substandard housing in Bronzeville. After World War II, the community moved directly south down King Drive to Chatham, then a largely undeveloped area.
“In Chatham, the upwardly mobile could ‘strut their stuff’ architecturally, and build homes that had never been seen there before,” Reed says. “It was the fulfillment of a dream to live in a community where you could live in a home that was architecturally commensurate with your success in life.” The African-American elite of the mid-twentieth century strutted their stuff in high, mid-century style.

I’m so amazed that I haven’t heard this reported on the mainslime media, along with the FBI’s report that the bombing of black churches was part of a conspiracy.
Oh, wait. “It’s not their job”, and it would upset white people. Can’t upset the white people. We are such delicate flowers. (snark).
