OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network closed out 2015 as its most-watched year in network history, achieving its 4th consecutive year of double-digit growth in total viewers in primetime (up 13% with 487,000 total viewers).

2015 was also the network’s best year ever and fourth year of growth in the key W25-54 (Women 25-54) demo (up 10% vs. 2014).

OWN’s W25-54 primetime average ranked #25 among ad-supported cable networks, up 4 spots vs. 2014.

OWN is the fastest growing top 25 ad-supported cable network in primetime among W25-54, and is one of only two ad-supported cable networks to have achieved double-digit growth in total viewers in each of the past four years.

Additionally, OWN was the #2 cable network in primetime among African American women.

For 2015, OWN was the #1 cable network for women and the #1 network on all of TV among African American women and total viewers on Tuesday nights. Popular Tuesday night series “The Haves and the Have Nots” and “If Loving You is Wrong,” from Tyler Perry, both ranked among the top seven original scripted series on ad-supported cable for W25-54, and were primetime’s top two original cable series among African American women. Both series ranked among Tuesday night’s top three original cable series for W25-54 and W18+ and were Tuesday night’s top two original series on all of TV among African American women and total viewers.

Creed’s Ryan Coogler Will Direct Black Panther
    By Nate Jones Follow @kn8

That was fast: A week after Creed made him the hottest up-and-coming filmmaker in Hollywood, Variety reported that Ryan Coogler is in talks to direct Marvel’s Black Panther movie. Now it’s official: According to Polygon, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed to Empire that Coogler would helm the film featuring a “mostly black cast.” “This one is important,” Feige said. “Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore.” Before Coogler’s name was in the mix, Marvel was reportedly courting Selma’s Ava DuVernay for the job of bringing Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa to the screen, but she declined the offer because it “wasn’t going to be an Ava DuVernay film.” Coogler will be only the second Marvel director not to be a white guy, after Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi. Either way, it’s been an impressive rise for the 29-year-old director, whose previous film, Fruitvale Station, won him the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature in 2014.

I believe it. There have been several times that I thought about going to Chipotle and went..’nah’.

    ……………………………

*Let me tell you, standing across the street from the only Chipotle restaurant in my neighborhood yesterday, I could tell something was wrong.

This particular location was always busy. Now there was only a sprinkling of people inside, here and there.

This I saw with my own eyes…on my way to Baja Fresh.

I would’ve chosen Chipotle over Baja Fresh any day before I heard about the first E. Coli outbreak a few months back. And apparently, I am not alone. Reports are saying that sales have plummeted at warp speed since the E. coli outbreak returned and spread…for the third time.

I’m wearing my TIN FOIL HAT on all these E.coli outbreaks at Chipoltles.

Ever since Chipoltle worked their butts off to get GMO-FREE, out-of-the-blue, these outbreaks. COINCIDENCE? I.DON.T.THINK.SO.

GMO industry will do whatever it takes to keep that freaky shit in our food chain.

I sincerely believe there is a concerted effort to sabotage and DAMAGE the e Chipoltle brand. That will teach them to serve up good, clean, GMO-FREE FOOD!

That’s my story & I’m sticking to it.

Chicago is 2nd-best city at handling snow: study
POSTED 1:19 PM, DECEMBER 30, 2015, BY WGN WEB DESK

CHICAGO – The weather outside is frightful, but not to Chicagoans, who may find a new study delightful.

According to consumer service website Thumbtack, Chicagoans on average wait until there are 8.8 inches of snow on the ground before requesting private snow plows, a measure Thumbtack says reflects the city’s toughness in living with inclement weather. Chicago trailed only Buffalo, N.Y., in the study.

Thumbtack, through which consumers can book a wide array of services, collected data for 2 1/2 years for its new report. In the study Buffalo led the way with a wait time of 9.7 inches. Chicago was second, trailed by Colorado Springs, Colo., at 7.37 inches. Springfield, Mass., came in last, with their residents waiting only .67 inches before requesting snow plow services.

How Racists Talk About Tamir Rice
    December 31, 2015 6:00 am

A little time has passed since a grand jury in Cleveland refused to indict two white police officers responsible for the November 2014 death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was black.

One minute this child was playing in a city park with an air pellet gun. Seconds later, after a police squad car swooped up next to him, he was on the ground — alone and mortally wounded.

After 13 months of waiting for any sign of justice, the reaction from too many white people to the grand jury decision has severed me from my will for diplomacy. I am a 58-year-old white woman, and I am sickened by how many people who look like me talk about race.

    ……………..

White English casts Tamir Rice, for the first time in his short life, as an equal among men — rather than as a 12-year-old boy limited by the judgment of his years.

He “should have known better.” He should have “listened to the police,” as if there’s no reason to doubt their claim that they yelled three warnings to this child in less than two seconds.

White English repeats, over and over, that this child was “big for his age.”

He’s not 12-year-old Tamir; he’s “Mr. Rice.” Even in his grave, he grows. He is no longer 5 feet 7 inches tall.

Nobody has reported this..but it is my hunch, that everytime the Federales get a call on him, they are like…
