PRESIDENT OBAMA’S GUN CONTROL TEARS ARE THE BLACKEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED THIS WEEK
    Damon Young, 1/5/16

It’s been well-documented here that President Obama is firmly and fully ensconced in the fuck devoid span of his presidency. He has nestled in his full-length no fucks futon; his bare feet stretched on his no fucks ottoman, reading perhaps How to Give No Fucks and Influence People or Chicken Soup for the Fuck-less Soul.

This is the president we anticipated when all that hoping and changing was happening in 2007 and 2008. But, for very practical reasons — namely, the country wasn’t quite ready for a Black president, much less a fuck deficient Black president — we didn’t start to really see him until he was reelected. Which, again, makes perfect sense. You just don’t go all DeMarcus Cousins at your new job before your first performance review. But he’s here now, and it is glorious.
And, to clarify, “giving no fucks” does not mean that President Obama — or anyone else who gives no fucks — is without a care or concern. It just means that you no longer care about and you’re no longer concerned with meeting the unreachable expectations of people who don’t actually want you to reach them. In Obama’s case, these people are usually called “conservatives.” For laymen such as you and I, these people are usually called “haters.” President Obama does, in fact, seem to care about many things. ISIS. The economy. The Wire. Sasha’s sartorial choices. Selfies with Michelle.

And while tears aren’t always a reliable measure of ones actual feelings about a subject, I have no doubt that the ones he shed at today’s press conference, where he introduced new gun control measures, were real. Violence is not a uniquely American problem. For a developed country, however, gun violence is uniquely American, and its something we all have at least a tangential connection to. If you happen to be a Black American, this tangential connection becomes sturdier. I have been personally affected by gun violence. I’ve had friends killed, cousins incarcerated, and a home shot into. And I imagine most reading this can say similar things. No one — not even a millionaire family with two Ivy League-grad parents and two private school-attending teenage daughters — is immune, and I’m certain our president is aware of this. And I’m also certain he’s aware, as many of us are, that the primary factor morphing perfunctory human agitation and conflict to the type of murder and mayhem we see today is the availability of guns.

  4. Ametia says:

PBO, you are asking America to find it’s moral, ethical, and spiritual CONSCIENCE

    Where

    GREED
    POWER
    GUILT
    FEAR

    Rules their universe

  5. Ametia says:

PBO: “The reason congress blocks laws is because they want to win elections.

If you make it hard for them to win elections, if they block those laws, they’ll change course, I PROMISE YOU.”

    PREACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Ametia says:

We have a right to assembly PEACEFULLY in movie theaters , schools, malls, stores, our homes, without being gunned down and killed by folks who are not capable of using a gun.

  7. Ametia says:

Pay ATTENTION to members of CONGRESS who OPPOSE PBO’S

EXECUTIVE ACTIONS: ACTION THAT ARE WITHIN PRESIDENT OBAMA’S LEGAL RIGHTS TO PROTECT AMERICAN CITIZENS.

    • Ametia says:

Yes, Valerie, the PRESIDENT is doing what is in his AUTHORITY to do so, but the yammering loud mouths and fear mongering idiots get the spotlight to LIE & MALIGN him at every turn.

  8. Ametia says:

PBO: “I taught CONSTITUTIONAL LAW. I KNOW A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS.”

    Executive Actions Versus Executive Orders

    Executive Actions Versus Executive Orders

Executive actions are any informal proposals or moves by the president. The term executive action itself is vague and can be used to describe almost anything the president calls on Congress or his administration to do.

But most executive actions carry no legal weight. Those that do actually set policy can be invalidated by the courts or undone by legislation passed by Congress.

The terms executive action and executive order are not interchangeable. Executive orders are legally binding and published in the Federal Register, though they also can be reversed by the courts and Congress.

A good way to think of executive actions is a wish list of policies the president would like to see enacted.

When Executive Actions Are Used Instead of Executive Orders

Presidents favor the use of nonbinding executive actions when the issue is controversial or sensitive. For example, Obama carefully weighed his use of executive actions on gun violence and decided against issuing legal mandates via executive orders, which would have gone against the legislative intent of Congress and risked enraging lawmakers of both parties.

    Executive Actions Versus Executive Memoranda

Executive actions are also different from executive memoranda.

Executive memoranda are similar to executive orders in that they carry legal weight allowing the president to direct government officials and agencies.

But executive memoranda are typically not published in the Federal Register unless the president determines the rules have “general applicability and legal effect.”

List of 23 Executive Actions on Gun Violence

Here are Obama’s executive actions on gun violence:
    1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
    2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
    3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
    4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
    5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
    6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
    7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
    8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
    9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
    10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
    11. Nominate an ATF director.
    12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
    13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
    14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
    15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
    16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
    17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
    18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
    19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
    20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
    21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
    22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
    23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

These MOFO IDIOTS don’t get it, that President Obama is not roaming the countryside SHOOTING & KILLING CHILDREN & ADULTS.

They are showing their TRUE COLORS with this ‘2nd amendment, over-reaching ‘BULLSHIT.

PBO: “GUN LOBBY HOLDING CONGRESS HOSTAGE, BUT THEY CANNOT HOLD AMERICANS HOSTAGE!”

    • Liza says:

“And if you have any doubt as to why you should feel that “fierce urgency of now,” think about what happened three weeks ago. Zaevion Dobson was a sophomore at Fulton High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. He played football; beloved by his classmates and his teachers. His own mayor called him one of their city’s success stories. The week before Christmas, he headed to a friend’s house to play video games. He wasn’t in the wrong place at the wrong time. He hadn’t made a bad decision. He was exactly where any other kid would be. Your kid. My kids. And then gunmen started firing. And Zaevion — who was in high school, hadn’t even gotten started in life — dove on top of three girls to shield them from the bullets. And he was shot in the head. And the girls were spared. He gave his life to save theirs –- an act of heroism a lot bigger than anything we should ever expect from a 15-year-old. “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

We are not asked to do what Zaevion Dobson did. We’re not asked to have shoulders that big; a heart that strong; reactions that quick. I’m not asking people to have that same level of courage, or sacrifice, or love. But if we love our kids and care about their prospects, and if we love this country and care about its future, then we can find the courage to vote. We can find the courage to get mobilized and organized. We can find the courage to cut through all the noise and do what a sensible country would do.

That’s what we’re doing today. And tomorrow, we should do more. And we should do more the day after that. And if we do, we’ll leave behind a nation that’s stronger than the one we inherited and worthy of the sacrifice of a young man like Zaevion.”

These REMARKS will go down in HISTORY as the most SIGNIFICANT, as it touches on the very fabric of our society to do what is just, what is right and what is PREVENTABLE for the survival of our families, communities…

        NEED I GO ON.

      • Liza says:

PBO using Zaevion Dobson’s story for his closing was really powerful. We are left to imagine what this kid, clearly an exceptional human being, could have been. Instead, we honor his extraordinary sacrifice but we don’t want this sacrifice from a 15 year old. We want him to live. So, this becomes the framework for PBO’s call to action. Are we going to require, through our complacency, our best children to lay down their lives to save other children from being shot, or are we going to act on their behalf? A brilliant speech.
