    Anyone see the two black guys standing all the way in the back behindTed Cruz as Ted gives his speech…

    They look like they’re been held hostage…like they’ve tried to escape once before, and their owners have them chained to them so as to keep a close eye on them to make sure they don’t try to escape again..

    The Blackest and best Black History Month ever ended yesterday and I am just reveling in it’s abundant noirness. Still. It was utterly lit. Like Olympic Torch lit. Like Christmas Lights when you do too much so you keep the neighbors up all night because your house is one giant flashlight lit.

    There were so many amazing moments too. Let’s talk about it!

    Frederick Douglass’ Google Doodle Blowout
    On February 1, Google dropped their Doodle to commemorate Black History Month. We did not know what was to come in these 29 days, but we shoulda known it was a special one. An animated Frederick Douglass was featured on Google’s homepage, welcoming us into February with a blowout that was so legit, I was almost jealous I no longer had an afro. My man Frederick rocked the most righteous coiffure and we had to start the month by paying homage to that.

      It occurred to me rather late this afternoon to make a few calls to friends in Texas and Minnesota – and the ones I was able to get a hold of weren’t going to vote at first – because 1) Texas is a red State and there’s no point they thought…but they were all like we don’t want Hillary and if we were going to vote, we’d vote for Bernie Sanders…So I said, please go vote for Bernie for what it’s worth…can you imagine how many of us feel this way about Hillary, but aren’t bothering to vote – and then she keeps ‘winning’ – and accumulating delegates towards her fake ‘nomination’…Since they were all registered to vote, they agreed it was important they get to their polling places asap…One even called to say he was in line so he’ll get to still vote even though the polls closed…

      I plan to mass mail and follow up with other friends and colleagues here and around the country…That’s how I converted so many and got them to vote for then Senator Obama in 2008…and convinced many to get off their butts and stop whining and go vote to re-elect him in 2012…

      I will now commit to doing the same for Bernie…I’ve got a bit of ground to cover now that we already have these early States behind us…but we can make a difference in the ones going forward if we do the necessary outreach – which I’m now fully committing to…

      It’s funny how every smart person I know is so against Hillary getting into that spot…

    The GOP are making themselves into PRETZELS. Writing scathing editorials, stinging commentaries, and the like, trying to DISTANCE themselves from Donald Trump. He’s a rich, racist, POS just like the members of the Republican Party.

    Keep a tally of who the players who are NOW condemning, disavowing, and half-heatedly distancing themselves from Trump.

    This tells us everything we need to know.

    WASHINGTON — Payday lenders have been gunning for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau since the day President Barack Obama tapped Elizabeth Warren to set up the new agency. They’ve had plenty of help from congressional Republicans — longtime recipients of campaign contributions from the payday loan industry. As the CFPB has moved closer to adopting new rules to shield families from predatory lending, the GOP has assailed the agency from every conceivable angle — going after its budget, attempting to tie its hands with new layers of red tape, fomenting conspiracy theories about rogue regulators illegally shutting down businesses and launching direct attacks on payday loan rules themselves.

    To date, the GOP blitz has resulted in a few close shaves for the young agency, but no actual defeats. But the industry has cultivated a powerful new ally in recent weeks: Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.).

    Wasserman Schultz is co-sponsoring a new bill that would gut the CFPB’s forthcoming payday loan regulations. She’s also attempting to gin up Democratic support for the legislation on Capitol Hill, according to a memo obtained by The Huffington Post.

      For some reason, I find this hard to believe..

      There are a lot yarns being spun – and a few urban legends being to test out there…and as in this story, it has very little to do with empathy or a sincere concern for the victim at the center of this tale..or the Hispanic community in general…

      This is about campaign operatives and other folks with agendas trying to spin yarns to drive wedges, pretend they care, to attract various demographics to support their preferred candidate..

      Which says everything about the judgement of this paper…and others..

      Can we now finally put to rest the value of these – and stop caring about ‘endorsements’ from newspapers – and endorsements in general…which are all bogus, and have little basis in fact and more to do with deals struck or bought…and petty hostilities that have no basis in doing what’s best for the citizenry..

    Margaret, once again I find myself stating the obvious – of course the KKK is a part of the Republican base. Are Republicans really trying to suddenly be outraged by that? When you hate immigrants, hate gays, question the patriotism of the first black President, use war to solve all your problems… Well hell, Margaret, I could have just used those exact same words to actually describe the KKK rather than the current Republican party.

    The entire Republican leadership is culpable for the rise of Trump. For years they have suppressed minority voters, denied rights to gays, and vilified immigrants. How in the hell can the party of Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, Joe Arpaio, Jan Brewer, Sarah Palin, Paul LePage, Mike Huckabee, Jason Rapert, Jon Hubbard, Loy Mauch, Bob McDonnell, Haley Barbour, Jeff Sessions, Rick Santorum, Ted Cruz, George Allen, … suddenly be offended by Donald Trump? Hell, the list of racist, homophobic, immigrant-hating Republican politicians is so long, I haven’t even scratched the surface. And who do you think voted them into office?

      It tickled me when Paul Ryan said they were the party of Lincoln. For the first time, he told the truth. They really are. Here see for yourself Lincoln’s own words:

      What this “affluent” clown is really saying is that he and his wife do not want to pay more taxes (“fiscally mildly conservative”) and Donald Trump is their best bet. The rest is gibberish. Bernie Sanders is a VIABLE OPTION. Bernie Sanders is, for all practical purposes, a longtime Democrat and he is far more qualified to be the Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton.

    Donald Trump Finds Ally in Delegate Selection System, Much to G.O.P.’s Chagrin

    … Hoping to avoid a repeat of the messy fight for the Republican nomination in 2012, the party drew up a calendar and delegate-selection rules intended to allow a front-runner to wrap things up quickly.

    Now, with Republicans voting in 11 states on Tuesday, the worst fears of the party’s establishment are coming true: Donald J. Trump could all but seal his path to the nomination in a case of unintended consequences for the party leadership, which vehemently opposes him.

    “Trump has significant advantages, and that’s the way the system is designed,” said Joshua T. Putnam, a political science lecturer at the University of Georgia with an expertise in delegate selection. “It’s right in line with what the folks designing these rules wanted. It’s just not the candidate they preferred.”

    As the calendar flips, March brings a whirlwind of states voting on the same days and in quick succession. By the middle of the month, 58 percent of the total delegates will have been awarded, and Mr. Trump could be unstoppable in getting the 1,237 needed to clinch the nomination.

    With the exception of Texas, the home state of Senator Ted Cruz, recent polls show Mr. Trump leading in the so-called Super Tuesday states that vote this week, including Alabama, Georgia, Massachusetts and Virginia. Though Texas has the most delegates of states voting on Tuesday, 155, they all award delegates proportionally, so that Mr. Cruz will most likely have to share the haul…
