Palm Sunday is this weekend, marking the last Sunday before Easter. The sacred Christian holiday commemorates the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, where he rode into town on a donkey as crowds of people gleefully greeted him and spread out palm branches in his path.
At many Christian Palm Sunday church services, common traditions include processions with palm branches, the blessing of palms and the construction of small palm crosses. While the story of Palm Sunday is told in all four gospels in the Bible, Matthew 21 is the one read at most church services.
The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

Mandela’s funeral provided the White House with the opportunity to change the tenor of the talks. “The president was going to the funeral of Nelson Mandela—his personal hero—and I remember on the plane to South Africa I raised with him—we had a list of the leaders who were going to be up on the dais where he’d be speaking—and one was Raul Castro, and I said, ‘Look, inevitably it is going to come up as to whether or not you shake his hand.’”

And this is the president’s hero and he doesn’t want to cause an incident at his memorial service by carrying forward this dispute between the United States and Cuba, so he shook Raul Castro’s hand.”

Trump’s America Is Here: Man Kills 3 People For Not Speaking English
This Milwaukee man killed 3 innocent people for the simple crime of not speaking English.
Violence increases at rallies for Donald Trump and hate crimes are encouraged by the presidential candidate’s rhetoric and nationalist remarks, it appears as though a shift is occurring in America. People with racist and nationalist views now think it is okay to act on their bigoted beliefs, and innocent people are winding up injured or dead because of it. Such is the case with Dan Popp, a Milwaukee resident who murdered 3 people with a rifle because they didn’t speak English, according to a witness who just barely escaped being shot as well.
It was Sunday afternoon and Jesus Manso-Perez, 40, and his 18-year-old son, Jesus Manso-Carrasquillo, had left the apartment to do laundry. They ran into Popp on their way to the basement in their apartment complex, who Manso-Carrasquillo said offered them a beer. When they declined, Popp asked where they were from and they replied that they were from Puerto Rico, to which Popp reportedly replied, “Oh, that’s why you don’t speak English. You’re Puerto Rican.” After they parted ways, the father and son started a load of laundry and made their way back to their apartment. It was then that they met Popp at the stairs, he pointed a rifle at them, said “You guys got to go” and shot the father in the head. The son managed to run away and just barely missed the shots that Popp fired at him.
Minutes later, Popp kicked down the door of the Vue family’s home, who lived in a neighboring unit. The family had heard the first shots, presumably those fired at Manso-Perez and Manso-Carrasquillo, and huddled together in the bedroom. Popp knocked at first but when no one answered he kicked the door in and forced his way into the bedroom. He pointed the rifle at Phia Vue, a 36-year-old father of the four children he huddled around, and told Phia to leave with him. The two left the room and the family heard shots. Phia was later found dead in the bathroom by police.

Black Trump Supporter Assaults Protester; Arrested Immediately (WATCH)

*Another Donald Trump rally means another protester gets a beatdown.
This particular incidence of Trump rally violence happened in Arizona on Saturday night (03-19-16) and is kinda interesting for two reasons.
1. The protester (Bryan Sanders) was WHITE and the assailant was BLACK.
2. The black guy (Tony Pettway) who punched and kicked Sanders was IMMEDIATELY ARRESTED and charged with misdemeanor assault, unlike the old white guy who sucker punched a black protester in North Carolina on March 10 who WASN’T arrested until a day or so later. We’ll let you think about that.
In any event, it all went down at the Trump rally as a protester was being escorted out of the Tucson Convention Center.

The upcoming biopic about the singer proves that the world still isn’t ready to tell her story.
When I was a kid, I knew what the worst parts of me were—my hair and my mouth. My hair was nappy. My lips were big. Nearly every kid around me knew something similar of themselves because nearly every one of us had some sort of physical defect—dark skin, nappy hair, broad nose, full lips—that opened us up to ridicule from one another. That each of these “defects” were representative of all the Africa that ran through us was never lost on anyone.“Africa” was an insult—African bush-boogie, African bootie-scratcher etc. Ethiopian famine jokes were all the rage back then.
Did we want to be white? I don’t think so. We didn’t want to look like Rob Lowe or Madonna. We hated and mocked Michael Jackson’s aesthetic changes as viciously as we mocked each other. What we wanted was to be on the right end of the paper bag tests. We wanted hazel eyes. We wanted wavy hair. I had neither hazel eyes nor wavy hair. But I also didn’t suffer in the same way that I saw other kids around me suffer. I was not dark-skinned. And, more importantly, I was not a girl.
Even back then I somehow knew that it was a boy’s prerogative to be handsome or not in a way that it wasn’t a girl’s prerogative to be pretty or not. Boys had so many other ways of scaling the social ladder—humor, a killer jump-shot, or a reputation for violence—that were unavailable to girls. As I got older, I understood that this wasn’t merely a mark of West Baltimore, but of something grander. Biggie’s “One More Chance” was an ode to this distinctly masculine advantage:
Heartthrob never, black and ugly as ever
However, I stay Coogi down to the socks
Rings and watch filled with rocks
And my jam knocks…
Never has “however” been used to greater effect.There was no “however” for a girl deemed “black and ugly.” There were no female analogues to Biggie. “However” was a bright line dividing the limited social rights of women from the relatively expansive social rights of men.
I played a lot of Nina Simone in college. I play a lot of Nina Simone now. But I have always known that Nina Simone means something more to the black women around me than she does to me. Furthermore, I have always known that Nina Simone means something much more to a specific kind of black woman than she ever can for me. Simone was in possession of nearly every feature that we denigrated as children. And yet somehow she willed herself into a goddess.
I am a Bullied Teacher

Each day, I pull into the parking lot of my school and sit in my car. I do not want to go in for fear of what this day will hold. I sit in my car and pray. I pray to God that today will be a good day for my children and me. I pray that I can withstand whatever my administration throws at me. I pray that I will be able to fight back tears in staff meetings. I pray that I will not face any scrutiny on this day. I pray these prayers, because I am being bullied. Not by my co-workers. Not by my students’ parents. No. I am being bullied by those who should be providing me support…my administration.
I am a bullied teacher.
I walk into my classroom with sadness in my heart and a frown on my face. I feel this sadness because I am not happy to be here. I am not happy to be here because I do not enjoy my job. I do not enjoy my job because I am being bullied. Each day, I am told I am not enough. I am told that I am not a good teacher. I am told that my lesson plans are not sufficient and my instructional strategies are deficient. I am told this through the actions and words of my administration.
I am a bullied teacher.
I have some of the sweetest children in my classroom; truly some of the sweetest one could ever ask for. They walk in each day with so much excitement on their face and love in their hearts. They love school and are so happy to be there. I try so hard to share in their excitement and joy for being at school. But I can’t. I have to put on an act each day so my children will not see how I really feel on the inside. I do not want them to know the truth. They are so kind and loving to one another…so innocent. I am ashamed that my administration never learned this character trait. I am ashamed they never learned to treat others as they would want to be treated.
I am a bullied teacher.
I begin the daily activities I have planned for my children, all the while knowing they won’t be enough. I am faced with the constant fear that my door will open and an administrator will walk in. My hands begin to involuntarily shake every time my door opens. My administration will walk in not to support me, not to learn with my children, but to bully me. They will scrutinize my teaching. They will scrutinize my lesson plans. They will scrutinize the activities we are doing in class. They will surely let me know I have not met their standards by the sour expressions on their faces.
Eric Thomas Scolds Low-achieving, ‘Disrespectful’ Black Students

*Motivational speaker Eric Thomas visited Vashon High School in St. Louis, Missouri, last month, and video of the event has gone viral because of how he scolds a group of unruly students who interrupt a personal story he’s sharing about growing up on the rough streets of Detroit.
Thomas – who usually gets paid between $50,000 and $100,000 for his services – offered to help inspire and encourage the low-achieving students for free, but became understandably frustrated by their disinterest. Eric didn’t hold back when he revealed that the disrespect is something he only experiences from Black students.
“When people love you, you don’t do them like dirt. When people care for you, don’t disrespect them. You ain’t got but a few people who care about you in this world,” Eric says in the video, continuing, “You got the nerve to act the fool when somebody cares about you? You’re talking when I’m talking. Do you know that if I go to a Jewish school, those kids are quiet.”
He goes on, “If I go to a white school, those kids are quiet. If I go to a Latino school, those kids are quiet. The only kids that disrespect me are black kids,” adding, “That’s it, my own, are the only ones who disrespect me.”
After the comments, the camera pans to show the same disruptive students, now wide-eyed and attentive. “What they don’t know is that you’re not even trying when you take a test. You didn’t give your best. They think you’re dumb. You ain’t dumb. We survived slavery, and you can’t pass a test? Come on!”
Thomas becomes more and more emotional as his speech continues, “I ain’t stupid. You take everything from us and we still survive. You want to tell me that you don’t want to learn how to write? Have you lost your mind? We are survivors. That is all we do is survive.”

HAVANA (AP) — Yolanda Mauri’s ancestors almost certainly came to Cuba in chains, laboring as slaves on an island of French coffee plantations and fields of Spanish sugarcane.
Her parents became their family’s first professionals, graduating with engineering degrees after Cuba’s 1959 revolution ended segregation. Mauri, 26, graduated from an elite technical university with a degree in computer programming. Today, she struggles to patch together a living from poorly paid government work and freelance jobs like building websites. She feels the sting of racism in casual derogatory comments or a maître d’s refusal to seat her in an expensive restaurant.
For Mauri and hundreds of thousands of black Cubans, Barack Obama isn’t just the first U.S. leader to visit their country in nearly nine decades. He’s a black man whose rise to the world’s most powerful job is a source of pride and inspiration.

Trump on Romney: ‘Are you sure he’s a Mormon?’

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump pilloried Mitt Romney on his home turf on Friday, making his best appeal to the state’s majority Mormon population and questioning whether Romney truly represented their faith.
The rally in Salt Lake City, coming one week after clashes between supporters and protesters forced Trump to cancel a Chicago event, was also marked by a couple hundred protesters outside the Infinity Event Center, some of whom at one point tried to rush into the event.
“Do I love the Mormons? I have many friends that live in Salt Lake City — and by the way, Mitt Romney is not one of them,” Trump said to applause. “Are you sure he’s a Mormon? Are we sure?”
