Do It Again
Even though 3Chics Politico is written and curated by three women: Ametia, Rikyrah, and SouthernGirl2, I must nominate this as one of the most engaging blogs I've found. Devoted to politics and culture, these three shine a light on contemporary life with humor and spirit.

Donald Trump exposes the GOP’s dirty secret: They build everything by nurturing white rage
For decades, GOP has used the war on drugs or voter ID laws as cover for race-baiting. Trump just blew their cover
CAROL ANDERSON
Paul Ryan is angry with Donald Trump, not so much for failing to espouse conservative values, as for exposing America’s dirty little secret — white rage: that deep-seated determination to block black progress in this country. For years, conservative politicians have relied upon the cover of high-minded principles and slogans – “protecting the integrity of the ballot box,” or waging a “war on drugs” — in order to cloak their determination to restrict African Americans’ citizenship rights. The racism fueling Trump’s campaign and his followers, however, is so overt, that it is undoing decades of hard covert work by the GOP.
When Trump didn’t immediately disavow an endorsement from Klansman David Duke; when the GOP front-runner condoned the beatings African Americans endured at his campaign rallies; and when 20 percent of his followers insisted that the Emancipation Proclamation, which ended slavery, was bad policy, Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan’s carefully stitched plan of “racism with plausible deniability” began to unravel.

300,000 signatures calling for the prosecution of the child’s parents whose kid fell into enclosure at zoo. But NO 300, 000 sigs calling for the prosecution of cops killing Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, John Crawford, etc. What they’re speaking loudly is the child’s life shouldn’t have been saved.
I’ve grown to really dislike zoos. The FIRST thing that people should notice about this tragedy is how extremely sad it is that this majestic animal lived in captivity. Second, there are many zoos out there that do not have safe enclosures for their animals. I understand the concept, not keeping them in cages and so forth, but the design of the enclosure should be such that a thing like this could never happen. And even with well designed enclosures, I still do not like zoos.
But they helped to create Trump….

Buchanan Calls Trump “The Great White Hope”
By Nancy LeTourneau
A lot of people have suggested that Donald Trump’s candidacy this year is heir to the Pat Buchanan campaigns of the 1990’s – including Buchanan himself. The former candidate provided his explanation of Trump’s appeal in an appropriately titled article: The Great White Hope.
Buchanan starts off by referring to the much-discussed (and little-understood) research by Angus Deaton and Anne Case about the rising mortality rates of middle-aged white people and their economic woes. He attempts to explain it all by saying that it is a result of cultural changes. To illustrate, he points to his own view of history in which our heroes were all white men and then says this:
…………………………………….
The sentence about statues and flags is clearly a reference to the recent reactions to confederate symbols after the shooting of nine black people in South Carolina. A card-carrying member of the KKK couldn’t have said it any better. Compare Buchanan’s words to those of Richard Spencer – who the Southern Poverty Law Center calls, “a suit-and-tie version of the white supremacists of old.”
…………………
In some ways it is helpful to have the fore-runner to the Trump candidacy lay this all out so blatantly. For years we’ve been subjected to dog whistle racism from conservatives. Buchanan is articulating what has been brewing under the surface for a while now and has reached its peak as a confederate insurgency during the Obama years.
An assumption that equality for people of color is somehow a threat to white people is at the heart of white supremacy. It has always been about a zero sum game.

Yeah, wouldn’t it be awesome if we could all talk trash for 45 minutes and get paid over 200K dollars? And, do that multiple times in one day. Now, that’s a real contribution to humanity, isn’t it?

Good Morning, Rikyrah & Everyone. :))))
Good morning, everyone
How was Haley’s party?
We had a good time, 22 people and lots of kids. The kids made cotton candy, jumped in the bounce house and played games. I was worn out tired by night fall. But it was all good.
Good for Haley. She’s so deserving of a celebration of this stature!
Thank you.
