Monday Open Thread | Sanders hits Clinton Foundation over foreign donations

Bernie Sanders Clinton FoundationDemocratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders criticized the Clinton Foundation for accepting donations from foreign governments in an interview aired Sunday, calling it a conflict of interest.

“Do I have a problem when a sitting secretary of State and a foundation run by her husband collects many, many dollars from foreign governments — governments which are dictatorships?

“Yeah, I do have a problem with that. Yeah, I do,” Sanders said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

When host Jake Tapper asked if he thought it was a conflict of interest, Sanders said, “I do.”

They are both cons..the fact that folks want to turn a blind eye and give her and Bill a pass for the same things and worse …stuff they insist makes everyone but the Clintons bad…still doesn’t mean they aren’t crooks…and fellow travelers on the same dubious train of dubious folk …

      • eliihass says:

They insult Bernie, then they try to briefly patronize him to get his supporters…and then it’s back to slandering and insulting him…

Whoever believed that Dems could be so vile…I got so used to the dignity and good cheer of the 08 and 12 elections, this election and the shenanigans has been such a shock to my system…

My blood boils on Bernie’s behalf…And I hope he refuses to play their game and stop allowing them to use him when they want his vote in the Senate, but then turn around and disrespect him…

They treat this grown man as if he were a kid…or Hillary’s servant, sent to go break his back and win the votes of millions of people without any establishment support – and with the odds against him…only for the purposes of cultivating his supporters for and handing them over to Hillary …

As if folks are just so dumb and can’t see and hear..

Then you hear idiots like Barney Frank and Joan Walsh after they’ve insulted Bernie, now turn around trying to alternately demean him and humor him and his supporters…talking about let him have his moment, but then he needs to get his supporters to vote for Hillary…and he needs to do everything he can to elect Hillary…

Or the other one they use…’we hear Bernie say he’ll do everything to make sure Trump doesn’t win in November, we take him at his word and hope that means that he’ll be doing everything he can to help Hillary win..’

As if this grown man put himself through all this stress and effort just to be Hillary’s fool…

I never thought I could despise Democrats as much as I despise republicans…but that’s just where I am today…

I’ve voted for Bernie in our primaries – and so has everyone I know…including complete strangers…We just have to wait and see how it shakes out tomorrow…either way, I’ll still write him in November…they might be trying to rig the results here to help Hillary save face…every Dem official here- including those we previously thought mute and deaf – they’re all jostling for Hillary…I hope they don’t pull some dishonest stuff …It’s like there’s an order that everyone including the media get behind Hillary…it’s all just so creepy…

Everywhere I go though, everyone seems to be for Bernie…Bernie yards signs all around me…and these are all die-hard Democrats who like me not only had our sea of Obama signs drowning out the one straggly mcCain and romney signs on the street…in 08 and 2012, but we contributed the maximum allowed both times…..and sponsored as many fundraisers even if we were out of town and couldn’t go …didn’t care how much it cost…I didn’t ever want it to be money that lost us the election…

Whatever happens tomorrow happens…but after tomorrow, for the first time in my life, I will be changing my party affiliation to no preference…And the Democratic party is never getting a dime from me ever again…ever again.. they are all as corrupt and dishonest and crooked as the republicans…Very disappointing…very..

      • Liza says:

I expect shenanigans in California. The Democrats want Bernie gone, and they figure CA is it, the last Tango in Paris, good-bye Bernie, and so forth. I wonder how they figure Bernie supporters vote as one monolithic entity that will support Hillary if Bernie asks them to. I suspect most of these people think for themselves. After all, they were the ones who refused to get in line for Hillary’s coronation.

    • Liza says:

Trump is the anti-Obama, a perfect 180 degree opposite. That is what they wanted, that is what they got. Ignorant voters do not think about consequences, the long term, the greater good, etc… They think about revenge. They cut off their nose to spite their face.

  8. Breaking News: President Obama and Bernie Sanders talked this weekend about the campaign.

    • Liza says:

PBO: Now, Bernie, you must recognize that Hillary is going to be the nominee. It doesn’t matter what happens in California, the superdelegates are going to make sure she wins. It’s time for you to concede, throw all of your support behind Hillary, and save the country from a Trump presidency.

      End.Of.Conversation.

      • Ametia says:

Yep Priorities America, Harry Reid and nem are out in full force now.

Even if Hill loses Cali, they’re all on board for the HILSTER.

      • I’m never voting for her. I don’t care who endorses her. I vote my conscience.

      • Liza says:

They will give nothing to Bernie supporters. Just wait. Talk is cheap, and talk is all anyone will get. And we know the Clintons, we’ve seen it before. They’ll say anything.

They might throw in a powerless VP.

Can’t wait to see what lil’ Debbie will get.

No criminal charges against parents in gorilla death case, Ohio prosecutor says

UPDATE: Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters has decided against charging the mother of a 3-year-old boy who got into a gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo last month. The incident ended with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old gorilla, Harambe, igniting an international uproar.

“The family is very pleased with this decision; it is what we expected,” the boy’s family said in a statement Monday. “This is one more step in allowing us to put this tragic episode behind us and return to our normal family life. We extend thanks to all of those who have been praying for us and who have supported us through this trying ordeal and praise to God for His mercy and grace.”

Deters told reporters at Monday afternoon press conference that witnesses of the encounter had described an attentive mother, who had simply turned her back when the child slipped away.

“If you don’t believe a 3-year-old can scamper away so quickly, you’ve never had kids,” he said. “They just do that sometimes. And I just think we’re lucky that the zoo did what they had to do.”

      • The media is reporting he’ll begin stumping for her next week…with Bernie still in the got damn race.

      • Liza says:

Damn. It all fits. Democratic leadership is worried that their toxic, undemocratic plan to crown Hillary may not work. Now they have to make sure she’s above the law.

This election is the worst of my adult life. I’ve disliked candidates in the past, including Bill Clinton, but never like this. NEVER like this.

      • Liza says:

And they’ve been tossing around the possibility that Elizabeth Warren may be the VP candidate on the ticket with Hillary. This would be a gift to Bernie supporters, a powerless vice president should Hillary win. Elizabeth Warren would be a fool to accept. As VP, she would be more likely to become attached to some Clinton meltdown or scandal than to move her agenda forward.

        Help us, Lord.

      • Ametia says:

Liza, they are jumping through HOOPS to prop up this woman. It’s all smoke & mirrors with Hillary. She’s like THIS:

      Good morning 3Chics,

I’ll wait for the Nat Turner movie.

    • Liza says:

Well, they mention that “liberties” were taken with the actual history and this is why I have reservations about these kinds of films. If you don’t know the history, then you do not know the embellishments and deviations. However, it does appear that the basic story is sound, that there was such a person who defied the Confederacy and did something that was brave and unusual for the times, especially because the man was white.

This film will most likely anger and irritate those who still defend the Confederacy, and that is a good thing. Who knows? Maybe someday the un-revised version of the Civil War, the historical truth, will be taught in southern schools.

  12. Liza says:

This makes me sick. The Confederacy should have been occupied for a hundred years. We wouldn’t have this sh!t.

      • Liza says:

Wow. That is a great story that I’ve never heard about. I’m not surprised though. There have always been brave, good people who step up even against formidable odds.

    • Liza says:

This has to be PBO, it has to be.

      • But why?

      • Ametia says:

AGREED. He has to tow the party line, and no doubt will be campaigning for this WITCH.

      • Liza says:

I suspect he believes this will save the nation from Trump. For whatever reason, perhaps because he is part of the Democratic leadership (?) he believes Hillary has to be his successor. I don’t think it means he would have chosen her, but he is a top ranking Democratic politician and this is their position. I can’t think of any other reason why Hillary would be protected.

      • Liza says:

SG2, like I always say, that is why the good Lord gave us the mute button on remote control, and I am so thankful for it.

      • Liza says:

Bernie Sanders is an outsider as far as the Democratic leadership is concerned. They want him GONE yesterday, they’re fed up with him. So many “Bernie, why don’t you leave gracefully” and “Bernie do the math” and Bernie face reality” op-eds out there now that you can’t track them. And California votes tomorrow, the largest state in the nation, has 12 percent of the population. The Democratic leadership wants them silenced. They set this course, and by God, they intend to see it through.

But they’ve got to be worried. Hillary isn’t exactly smashing Trump in national polls.

      • eliihass says:

When they hatched this coronation of Hillary, Trump was not even on the scene…so the idea that this is some sudden reflexive reaction to Trump is false..

They knew what they were doing…trump is just a useful idiot to use to scare folks into voting for Hillary…

      • Ametia says:

And continue toto MISS me with the Hillster protecting PBO’s legacy. Horses SHIT!!!

      • Liza says:

Yeah, the GOP inadvertently picked this year for their total meltdown. I just don’t know if Trump loses. Based on his horrible presentation of himself, which he continues to escalate just to show how bad he can be, reasonable people should have long ago tarred and feathered him. Reason also says that Hillary should attract a lot of voters simply because she isn’t Trump. But the polls don’t support that. And, really, is there any widespread ENTHUSIASM out there for Hillary?

Mitt Romney would have creamed Hillary in a general election. Handed her a$$ right back to the DNC. Mitt should have waited for 2016, because the GOP didn’t want to run him twice. They thought they had a deep bench, then found out they were all idiots including Jeb Bush, the golden boy. Oh, well, no one has a crystal ball.

      • eliihass says:

I think what’s amusing is how they’ve been trying to whip up some sentimental, thing trying to make this an exciting thing about this thing with Hillary being ‘historic’…

And all I can muster is a yawn…

When a woman who’s actually deserving ….and one who wins it fair and square and without rigging and beaucoup shenanigans on her behalf, I’ll celebrate…until then …yawn…

Can’t congratulate a thief for being the ‘proud’ owner of something they stole…

    Muhammed Ali: “I Am America”
    By Nancy LeTourneau

Many have noted that, on the occasion of Muhammed Ali’s death on Saturday, the statement released by Barack and Michelle Obama doesn’t read like a press release from the White House – but was probably written by the President himself. This is the line that made all of the headlines: “Muhammad Ali shook up the world. And the world is better for it. We are all better for it.” But there was another part that grabbed my attention. It goes directly to Ali’s impact as a Black man in America.

“I am America,” he once declared. “I am the part you won’t recognize. But get used to me – black, confident, cocky; my name, not yours; my religion, not yours; my goals, my own. Get used to me.”

That’s the Ali I came to know as I came of age – not just as skilled a poet on the mic as he was a fighter in the ring, but a man who fought for what was right. A man who fought for us. He stood with King and Mandela; stood up when it was hard; spoke out when others wouldn’t. His fight outside the ring would cost him his title and his public standing. It would earn him enemies on the left and the right, make him reviled, and nearly send him to jail. But Ali stood his ground. And his victory helped us get used to the America we recognize today.

    ………………………..

That’s why I found the quote chosen by President Obama to be so powerful. Rather than an attempt to transcend race, Muhammad Ali demanded to be recognized for who he was.

The confident (cocky) Black man has always been the biggest threat to racism. No one exemplified that more than Muhammed Ali. He seriously threatened most white people with statements like the one Obama quoted (I know, I was living in the South at the time). That is the Ali this President said he came to know as he came of age.
