    But there was one client who occupied a special place in Roy Cohn’s famously cold heart: Donald J. Trump.

    For Mr. Cohn, who died of AIDS in 1986, weeks after being disbarred for flagrant ethical violations, Mr. Trump was something of a final project. If Fred Trump got his son’s career started, bringing him into the family business of middle-class rentals in Brooklyn and Queens, Mr. Cohn ushered him across the river and into Manhattan, introducing him to the social and political elite while ferociously defending him against a growing list of enemies.

    Decades later, Mr. Cohn’s influence on Mr. Trump is unmistakable. Mr. Trump’s wrecking ball of a presidential bid — the gleeful smearing of his opponents, the embracing of bluster as brand — has been a Roy Cohn number on a grand scale. Mr. Trump’s response to the Orlando massacre, with his ominous warnings of a terrorist attack that could wipe out the country and his conspiratorial suggestions of a Muslim fifth column in the United States, seemed to have been ripped straight out of the Cohn playbook.

    “I hear Roy in the things he says quite clearly,” said Peter Fraser, who as Mr. Cohn’s lover for the last two years of his life spent a great deal of time with Mr. Trump. “That bravado, and if you say it aggressively and loudly enough, it’s the truth — that’s the way Roy used to operate to a degree, and Donald was certainly his apprentice.”

    For 13 years, the lawyer who had infamously whispered in McCarthy’s ear whispered in Mr. Trump’s. In the process, Mr. Cohn helped deliver some of Mr. Trump’s signature construction deals, sued the National Football League for conspiring against his client and countersued the federal government — for $100 million — for damaging the Trump name. One of Mr. Trump’s executives recalled that he kept an 8-by-10-inch photograph of Mr. Cohn in his office desk, pulling it out to intimidate recalcitrant contractors.

    The two men spoke as often as five times a day, toasted each other at birthday parties and spent evenings together at Studio 54.

    Unbeweavable! Johns Hopkins Researchers Urge Women To Stop Getting Braids, Weaves & Extensions

    Researchers at Johns Hopkins are urging women against using weaves, extensions and braids because the damage can lead to lead to permanent hair loss according to FOX Baltimore reports:

    An estimated one-third of African-American women suffer from traction alopecia, a form of gradual hair loss. They say certain scalp-pulling hairstyles can cause damage to the hair follicle from prolonged or repeated tension on the hair root.

    “We see it literally every day,” says Yasmine Young, who owns Diaspora Salon in Charles Village. “We are the only licensed natural hair salon in Baltimore.”

    “Usually traction alopecia occurs on the hairline. That’s usually the most fragile,” Young says. It can lead to bald spots and damage that is irreversible, but entirely preventable.

    “It’s usually from weaves or braids pulled too tight and someone has a bald spot. Then, they keep going back to the same style.”

    Young doesn’t offer relaxers or weaves and says, “I wouldn’t do anything that would compromise the integrity of someone’s hair.”

    She explains her focus is on hair care, not just style.

    Hopkins researchers are advising women against having tight weaves and braids. They recommend women don’t keep braids in for longer than two to three months, have weaves or extensions removed every three to four weeks, and alternate styles allowing hair time to recover. For Young avoiding all those styles entirely isn’t realistic, but making smart choices is.

    From a CNN piece:

    Trump entered May with $2.4 million in the bank and, save for the $14 million he’d raised through largely unsolicited donations throughout the course of his primary campaign, had done little to set up an aggressive small-dollar or large donor operation. Instead, he’d floated his primary efforts through $44 million of loans from his own bank account.

    Or, another way to look at it: Sen. Rob Portman, an Ohio Republican facing a tough re-election in November, had more than $13 million in the bank at the end of the first quarter of this year. Senate candidates — even those as proficient in fundraising as Portman — shouldn’t be more flush with cash than their party’s presumptive presidential nominee.

Trump Campaign for President, which has set a historic record in the Republican primary having received almost 14 million votes, has today announced that Corey Lewandowski will no longer be working with the campaign,” the campaign spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, said in a statement. “The campaign is grateful to Corey for his hard work and dedication and we wish him the best in the future.”

    Congressional Black Caucus balks at two political reforms being pitched by Bernie Sanders

    The Congressional Black Caucus is voicing strong opposition to two key political reforms being sought by presidential candidate Bernie Sanders in the run-up to the Democratic National Convention: abolishing superdelegates and opening up Democratic primaries and caucuses to independent voters.

    Sanders is seeking to leverage his unexpectedly strong showing against Hillary Clinton in the Democratic presidential race this year to secure a series of policy and political objectives. Although none of the political reforms Sanders is seeking would affect his standing now, they are rooted in his frustrations with the contest against Clinton.

    As of Sunday night, 587 superdelegates had announced their support for Clinton compared with 48 for Sanders, who sought to make a virtue of running against the “political establishment.” As a rule, the senator from Vermont also performed better against Clinton in primaries and caucuses where independent voters could participate.

    In a letter sent to Sanders and Clinton on Saturday, the Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus said they oppose changes in both areas.

    The Democrats utilize a system under which candidates win pledged delegates based on their performance in primaries and caucuses, but also seek support from superdelegates, Democratic elected officials and other party elites who have a say on the nomination but are not bound by the results in their states.

    The letter, first reported by Politico, said that the current system “has worked quite well” because it allows members of Congress to serve as superdelegates “without the burdensome necessity of competing against constituents for the honor of representing the state during the nominating process.”

    “There is no need to succumb to the pressure of a few individuals to make this change,” said the letter, signed by Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.), chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus.

    The letter also said that opening up primaries to voters who aren’t Democrats “would dilute minority voting strength in many districts across the country.”

    About Unca Clarence possibly retiring:
    I will believe it when I see it about Unca Clarence. He has a job where he does no work….why would he give that up, with his self-hating Uncle Ruckus self.

      I dunno, Rikyrah. The only reason I can think of is that he still has to show up, so maybe he wants to retire and spend some of that money he didn’t earn on travel, etc… And maybe it’s not fun anymore without Scalia.
