    Until black women and girls are valued and protected…and there’s universal outrage over the constant violent dehumanization they face even at – and especially at the hands of police officers paid with our tax dollars – until then, nothing else much matters to me..

    How can anyone see stuff like this and continue to hail and excuse police officers and those who talk them up and protect them even as they violently and cruelly abuse and kill us …how are vile police officers a protected class while a young black woman is brutalized for no reason at the hands of those we pay to ‘protect’ us..

    Frankly, I really don’t care what crazy stuff Trump flippantly said today…and I don’t care what Hillary Clinton is suddenly now promising just to get herself elected – and only for her own aggrandizement…In the end the narcissistic oligarchs and their puppets unite over some really great scotch and have a good laugh at the useful idiots and firewalls they successfully manipulated and exploited to get where and what they wanted ‘democratically’ – and would have still gotten by hook, crook or force as a last resort anyway …but choosing to maintain an appearance of faux-democracy at work because they in addition to power, money, control…do in the end crave and like the idea of being ‘popular’ and ‘beloved’…they all do love to be swooned over..

    I do really care that the important stuff that really ought to universally outrage us all …the routine man-handling of black folks going about their day…black girls and women brutalized at the hands of tax payer paid racist brutes who take out their racist hate and exact their pent up wickedness on random black kids…

    As I’ve said to my fam here, I pegged both Trump and the Clintons long ago…several years ago when I was so enraged and pulling my hair out over Trump – and when those, including the Clintons, who not only indulged him, but were hailing him and yucking it up with him as he spewed even worse stuff…And not too many people seemed to care… we were being told what a great businessman and gracious friend he was and about all the fun times had over great golf games..

    The fact that everyone wants to now pretend that this is just all new and very ‘shocking’ would be quite hilarious, if it weren’t all just so brazenly, glaringly and insidiously fake, manipulative and exploitative..and designed exactly to achieve a particular outcome that in the end has very little to do with you and me – our well-being …or the greater good..

    Resist the strong-arming and the manipulation…Resist being worked over…and the urge to fall in line and for the okey-doke…keep your eyes peeled and on what really matters and what they want to distract from… the stuff that is killing us…keep your eyes on what is conveniently being ignored and glossed over ..

    Whether we like to hear it or not, and whether we believe it or not, Donald Trump is the very least of our problems..

      I’m not surprised, actually. Almost everything about this horrible election has exposed what is wrong with this country. For any reasonable, decent person, there is no way to understand how we got here or why Donald Trump is the presidential nominee of a major political party. I truly believe that at this point, having gotten this low, anything could happen. Absolutely anything.

    Folks have lost their ever loving mind. They now accuse Ghazala Khan of not grieving since she lost a child in 2004. Accusing her of not grieving since her child died in 2004 is beyond the pale. Evil has no bounds. My mom was still grieving 13yrs after daddy died. I still cry for my beautiful sister, my best friend & my mom. You never get over it.

    Clinton Running Mate Tim Kaine Pushes for More Israeli Military Funding
    JULY 29, 2016 HEADLINES

    Thirty-six senators, including Democratic vice-presidential nominee Tim Kaine, are pushing to add $320 million for Israeli missile defense to next year’s defense appropriations bill. That’s in addition to the $3 billion a year in military funding the U.S. currently gives Israel. The proposed increase includes more purchases of Iron Dome systems, designed to intercept missiles fired toward Israel from Palestine. President Obama has threatened to veto legislation with that level of funding for the program.

    Both parents stiffened their denunciation of Mr. Trump on Sunday, saying that he lacked the moral character and basic empathy to be president. Mr. Khan, who addressed the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, said on “Meet the Press” on NBC that Mr. Trump had shown disrespect to his wife, and he accused Mr. Trump of running a campaign “of hatred, of derision, of dividing us.”

    In a direct appeal to voters inclined to support Mr. Trump, Mr. Khan pleaded with them to reject his brand of politics. He has held up Mr. Trump’s proposal for banning Muslim immigration as characteristic of a campaign Mr. Khan has called bigoted and contemptuous of the Constitution.

    “I implore those patriotic Americans that would probably vote for Donald Trump in November; I appeal to them not to vote for hatred, not to vote for fear-mongering,” Mr. Khan said. “Vote for unity. Vote for the goodness of this country. Vote for liberty and freedom.”

    And Ms. Khan, in an opinion article published in The Washington Post, rebuked Mr. Trump for suggesting earlier this weekend that she had not been permitted to speak at the Democratic convention. Ms. Khan said she did not speak because she did not believe she could remain composed while talking about her son, Humayun Khan.

    “All the world, all America, felt my pain. I am a Gold Star mother. Whoever saw me felt me in their heart,” Ms. Khan wrote. She continued: “Donald Trump has children whom he loves. Does he really need to wonder why I did not speak?”

    Ms. Khan said Mr. Trump was “ignorant” of Islam and criticized him for saying he had sacrificed for his country. “Donald Trump said he has made a lot of sacrifices,” Ms. Khan said. “He doesn’t know what the word sacrifice means.”

    In some respects, the exchange between Mr. Trump and the Khan family echoes the June controversy in which Mr. Trump assailed a federal judge, Gonzalo P. Curiel, for his “Mexican heritage.” By going after a military family with the language of ethnic stereotypes, Mr. Trump once again breached multiple norms of American politics and staked out ground that members of his own party are unlikely to help him defend.

    Democratic National Convention is not about Hillary Clinton; it’s about a 10-year-old boy

    Yesterday on the shuttle bus I learned who this convention is about — and it’s not Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, President Obama, or any of the big-name speakers. It’s about someone not here, a 10-year-old boy in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. His name is Abdullahi, and I was seated next to his proud father, Abdul Ahmed.

    Ahmed, 38, is a Hillary Clinton delegate. He came to the U.S. when he was just a teenager as his family fled Somalia, becoming one of 80,000 Somali émigrés in Minnesota. He now lives in a middle-class neighborhood, works as an accountant, and has high standards and great expectations for his children.

    “This is the greatest country in the world,” he says. “I hope we don’t destroy it by electing Trump.”

    Ahmed compares Donald Trump to the warlords who wrecked Somalia by dividing people by tribes and blaming others.

    Ahmed did not come to this conclusion lightly. He believes strongly in democracy, moderation, and respect. He intended to take his kids to both Republican and Democratic events, but he was turned off by Trump’s anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant comments. He preferred the inclusion shown by Democrats.

    So Abdul Ahmed began the caucus process, and Abdullahi took charge. He prodded his dad to become a delegate. At the state convention he was going around the room asking for votes for his dad. Then the kid (who’ll be in fifth grade this fall) told Governor Mark Dayton that Abdullahi Admed will be president one day, but first his goal is to be governor by the time he’s 25.

    Tides, stormy sea blamed for ramp’s collapse at Rio sailing venue

    RIO DE JANEIRO — The main ramp of Marina da Gloria, the sailing venue of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, partially collapsed Saturday. No one was injured, organizers said, but the incident raises further questions about the quality of construction in the Olympic host city.

    Philip Wilkinson, a spokesman for the Rio 2016 organizing committee, placed the blame on high tides and a stormy sea. The collapsed structure, which is temporary, is the main access point for boats to reach the water.

    Wilkinson also said the construction company responsible for the project has been contacted and is expected to make the repairs within four days. Sailing competitions begin Aug. 8.

    Pastor unveils yet another claim about Trump’s Christian faith

    …In a statement published on his website, Dobson said that “only the Lord knows the condition of a person’s heart,” and that he believes that Trump is “tender to the things of the spirit.” He also clarified that, not having definitive knowledge about Trump’s personal faith, he was speaking in his earlier interview with Anthony based on what he had heard from others.

    “I also hear that Paula White has known Trump for years and that she personally led him to Christ. Do I know that for sure? No,” he said, referencing the well-known televangelist. “Do I know the details of that alleged conversion? I can’t say that I do.”

    As previously reported, these clarifications came after much speculation and with some critics dismissing the notion that Trump became an evangelical Christian, as Dobson initially described.

    Donald Trump said on Sunday that Mitt Romney lost the presidential race in 2012 because of his tax returns.

    “He waited ’til September to give ’em, just before the election. They made him look so bad. It was so unfair,” Trump said of the GOP’s 2012 presidential nominee on ABC’s This Week. “I actually think he didn’t lose because of the 47 percent . I think he lost because of a couple of really minor items in a tax return, where he did nothing wrong. … It is unfair.”

    Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, reiterated that he will release his tax returns after the Internal Revenue Service completes an audit, even though the agency has said he can make them public while an audit is underway.

    Host George Stephanopoulos pushed back, saying past returns that aren’t being audited could be released.”Yeah, but they’re all linked,” Trump said. “It’s called the link. If my audit’s finished, that’s great.”

    Trump Crimea’s comments mean immigrants and 1st generationers from Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria … the former Warsaw Pact counties IOW … will be voting for Clinton. Together they make up quite a number of votes, they are located in states Trump needs to flip, e.g., Pennsylvania, and now he won’t.

    Father of slain Muslim soldier: Trump’s remarks ‘typical of a person without a soul’

    The father of a Muslim U.S. soldier killed in combat in Iraq said in an interview late Saturday that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s comments are “typical of a person without a soul.”

    “What he said originally — that defines him . . . People are upset with him,” Khizr Khan told The Washington Post. “He realizes, and his advisers feel that was a stupid mistake.”

    Khan told the Post that Trump is “void of empathy” and “unfit for the stewardship of this great country.”

    “A person void of empathy for the people he wishes to lead cannot be trusted with that leadership,” Khan added. “To vote is a trust. And it cannot be placed in wrong hands.”

    COLUMBUS (AP) —A divided Ohio Supreme Court on Thursday declared unconstitutional a law that made it illegal for police officers to have sex with minors simply on the basis of their profession.

    The court ruled 4-3 that the law arbitrarily added police to a ban on professionals having sex with minors that includes people with authority over children such as teachers or coaches.

    The government can’t punish a class of professionals like police without making a connection between their job and the crime, Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor said, writing for the majority.

    The law overturned by the court prohibited police officers from having sex with minors if the offenders were more than two years older than the victim.

    At issue was the 2012 conviction of former suburban Cleveland police officer Matthew Mole, who was accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy he met on a hookup app, according to Supreme Court documents.

    Mole, then 35, was arrested and charged after the boy’s mother found them together, Thursday’s ruling said. The boy did not know Mole was a police officer at the time of the encounter, and the boy had told Mole he was 18, the ruling said.

    It’s illegal in Ohio for people 18 and older to have sex with people under 16, but a jury deadlocked on that charge against Mole. However, he was convicted under the law banning police officers from having sex with minors.

    O’Connor said there was no evidence Mole used his status as an officer “to gain access to or bend the will” of the child or facilitate the sexual conduct.

    Dissenting Justice Sharon Kennedy, a former police officer, said prohibiting police officers from having sex with minors serves a legitimate state purpose.

    “If a peace officer discovered after the fact that the person with whom he engaged in sexual conduct was a minor, he would have a strong incentive to do whatever is necessary to ensure that his employer never found out, even to the point of compromising his integrity,” Kennedy wrote.
