    News from Arizona from AquaGranny:

    Hola Peeps! &WHOA!

I heard from a Navajo friend of mine that the tribes here are uniting in an all effort to get their Peeps to the polls in November. This is “huge” because we have many different factions here & the tribes have various rivalries & past grievances. They don’t always agree but this time they are coming together in a full effort to elect Dems. Most major thing is that they are being pro-active together about all the caca that Repugs do to depress their vote. They will make sure that voters are registered & have what ever they need to vote, plus & this is big, that they have free transportation to polling stations. One way in the past that Repugs have depressed Native voting here is making polling stations so far away that folks have to drive 100 miles at their own expense to vote.

Dang! I loved this news so much I cried. Power to the people & Si, se puede!

Libertarian Gary Johnson Is Very Confused About Student Loans
    by Alexander Holt

Do the stated positions on higher education policy from both major presidential candidates leave you feeling sad, and like you are choosing between two bad options? Maybe you could vote for Gary Johnson, candidate for the Libertarian Party and former governor of New Mexico. Yes you would throw away your vote, but perhaps he has some smart things to say about higher education.

    He does not.

Johnson is deeply confused about higher education policy. He believes that the reason college costs are so high is because of the “guaranteed government student loans.”

Linking college costs to federal aid is not a fringe theory—it’s called the Bennett hypothesis, named after Ronald Reagan’s education secretary, and there’s some evidence that federal student loans may lead to increased tuition (although it’s not the main reason costs have increased). But what’s worrying about Johnson’s statement is that he called federal student loans “guaranteed.” That word has a very particular meaning in federal student loan policy, and it refers to a program that was abolished in 2010.

Before 2010, banks would issue student loans and the federal government would “guarantee” those loans. That program was wasteful corporate welfare, and the government saved billions of dollars per year when it switched to loans issued directly by the federal government.

Granted, new federal loans are still “guaranteed” by the government, but that’s a very strange word to use in light of the program’s history. Why not call them “government” or “federal” loans? It suggests that Gary Johnson silly hasn’t read up on the federal student loan program since 2010. Which is… concerning.

we all know that’s what they’re thinking. They wanna party like it’s 1938. I keep on telling folks.

Yeah, well, this is from a guy who talked to a chair at the 2012 Republican convention. Why would Esquire or any other publication interview a pissed off old man who is famous for “blockbuster” films that are not particularly good but glorify the swinging d*ck mentality?

    • Ametia says:

The racists are showing their asses, at last. This is the one element of the Obama presidency. The bigots, racists, and ugliness of white folks could not be contained any longer. These old white farts are gasping, fighting, and clinging to their last vestiges of WHITE SUPREMACY.

They are literally RAGING AGAINST THE DYING OF THE WHITE!
