New York Life Insurance Company Fires DirectorA racist antagonizer of the Black Lives Matter movement has been fired after his words wrote a check that his a** couldn’t cash.

Shanelle Matthews, director of communication with the Black Lives Matter organization, was verbally attacked on Facebook by Corey Multer, a managing director of New York Life Insurance company.

Multer wrote:

You f*cking racist pig wh**e. The world would be a much better place if you jumped in front of a moving train. Die!

Matthews posted a screenshot of the attack with the following caption:

The rhetoric notwithstanding, I am unhinged by Mr. Multer’s arrogance.

Before messaging me, he didn’t create an alias or try in any visible way to conceal his identity or make private the details of his place of employment. Which, by the way, lauds their efforts on diversity and inclusion and ranks 61st on the 2016 Fortune 500 list with $550 billion in total assets. With a few quick strokes of the keyboard, you can easily find the names of his family members – even his marriage announcement in the New York Times from 1993.

What Mr. Multer’s vicious remarks actually say is that my values and beliefs are not only wrong and unvalued but that I deserve to die because of them. The kind of genocidal philosophy that has catalyzed egregious human right’s violations across the world – some of which, I suspect, Mr. Multer staunchly decries. And this kind of white supremacists resentment and cruelty is the very reason we proclaim over and over again that BLACK LIVES MATTER.

Corey Multer

Matthews called for Multer to be fired and tagged New York Life on Twitter. The company responded with concern, seemingly unaware that they harbored a raging racist in their midst:

Turns out the above video tweet did not show the whole story.

This tweet has an article link to the story:
      https://twitter.com/DNAinfoNY/status/764238836713095168

      Except from the article:

“The NYPD late Friday afternoon provided a detailed account, claiming that the video was a snippet of a seven-minute recording that showed the incident began when the suspect slammed a detective in the face, breaking his nose.

“According to a police spokesman, two detectives from the Bronx Warrants Squad recognized Darnell Simmons, 26, as he headed into a McDonalds at 1820 Eastchester Road on May 4 at 1:46 p.m.

“At the time, Simmons was wanted for a parole violation and for a series of burglaries in Manhattan and The Bronx, a department spokesman said.

“When the detectives walked up to talk with him, Simmons immediately slammed one detective in the nose, and then started trading punches with him and his partner.

“The fight continued for several minutes as people in the restaurant started called 911, reporting that the police needed help.

” ‘These cops were taking a beating,’ a source said.

“In the struggle, Simmons punched and kicked the officers, according to court records. He slammed one officer’s head into the counter and bit his hand, the records said.

“On the Instagram video, a third person can be seen trying to help pin down Simmons. He was a customer who came to the detective’s aide, a source told DNAinfo New York.

” ‘I am trying to help,’ he says on the video. ‘If he stops fighting, I won’t hit him.’

“Simmons was finally taken into custody and brought to Jacobi Medical Center with minor injuries, police say.

“Meanwhile, the two detectives — one who was bleeding from the top of his head — were also taken to Jacobi hospital. Their injuries included a broken noise, two herniated disks, a torn ligament, among other injuries, police officials said.

“One of the detectives required stitches, and was out of work for several months.

“The case was refereed at the time to the Citizen’s Complaint Review Board, which did not take any action against the officers after reviewing the entire video and witnesses, police said.”

Erykah Badu Donating Concert Proceeds to Clear Detroit Rape-Kit Backlog

Erykah Badu is donating the proceeds from her upcoming Detroit concert to a nonprofit that tests the city’s backlog of rape kits, the Detroit Free Press reports. Five dollars from each ticket sold for Badu’s August 12 performance at the Chene Park Amphitheater will go to the African-American 490 Challenge, which raises money to test the 11,000 abandoned rape kits found in a Detroit police warehouse in 2009. (Each test costs $490.) Badu will also donate the proceeds from the concert’s $100 “pre-show reception” and $1,000 “VIP reception” to the campaign, in what Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy calls a “phenomenal assist” to the cause. There are tens of thousands of untested rape kits across the United States.

After Ailes: ‘Friends of Roger’ exodus expected at embattled Fox News
    August 10, 2016: 10:23 PM ET

    excerpt:
Ailes is the only CEO Fox News has ever had. He launched the channel in 1996 and ran it as a fiefdom, grooming an entire generation of hosts, reporters and producers who feel indebted to him. He set the cultural tone of the place.

With Ailes deposed — one veteran staffer compared it to the sudden death of a Middle Eastern strongman — there is widespread uncertainty about the status of on- and off-air talent alike.
    […]
Meanwhile, there is a fresh focus on Ailes’ spending habits.
Ailes, through Fox News, employed a number of longtime friends as consultants, for purposes that remain unknown.

One of the consultants earned $10,000 a month by submitting a monthly invoice to Fox.

Sherman reported on Sunday that “one of the consultants, Bert Solivan, ran negative PR campaigns against Ailes’ personal and political enemies.” He said Solivan and four others were dismissed.
The names of the other “friends of Roger,” as they were known internally, were shared by a source on condition of anonymity.

THE POTUS NIGHTTIME PLAYLIST PROVES PRESIDENT OBAMA SAVED ALL OF HIS REMAINING FUCKS FOR THE BEDROOM

Well, it looks like I was (slightly) wrong. President Obama isn’t completely fuck poor. He still, apparently, possesses quite a few fucks. But, as the Nighttime version of this summer’s #PotusPlaylist proves, he’s redirected all of those fucks to the bedroom.

Seriously, look at some of those songs on it. Do You Feel Me? Lady?? Say Mothafuckin Yes??? I Get Lonely???? I’d bet if you collected every “I’m Totally Getting Some Cheeks Tonight” mixtape made within the last 25 years, at least one of these songs would be on 97% of them. Corrine Bailey Rae, whose music makes me want to plant flowers and shit just so I can fuck on them, is on this damn album. Fiona Fucking Apple, whose voice makes me clutch pearls that aint even on my neck, is on this damn album. Ledisi? Billie? Miles? Meth? No wonder Malia is taking break years and smoking weed at festivals and “twerking” and Sasha is working at Red Lobster. They’re just doing whatever the hell they can to get out of the house because they’re tired of their parents vibrating the walls. And then walking around all awkwardly and embarrassingly afterwards and asking the girls if they want “some eggs and shit.”

New Duke of Westminster Is Youngest Among World’s 400 Richest

Hugh Richard Louis Grosvenor, who became the 7th Duke of Westminster after the sudden death of his father Tuesday, joins the Bloomberg Billionaires Index today as his inheritance makes him the youngest billionaire among the world’s 400 richest people.

As duke, the 25-year-old now heads his family’s $12.3 billion estate, which includes hundreds of acres in London’s Belgravia and Mayfair neighborhoods, country homes, and Grosvenor Group, the London-based real estate firm with assets under management of 13 billion pounds ($19 billion) at the end of 2015.

“The Grosvenor Estate is subject to a 1933 Act of Parliament, the Grosvenor Estate Act, which effectively restricts inheritance to the male line,” said Marilyn McKeever, a London-based lawyer at Berwin Leighton Paisner.

Lopsided Housing Rebound Leaves Millions of People Out in the Cold

The housing recovery that began in 2012 has lifted the overall market but left behind a broad swath of the middle class, threatening to create a generation of permanent renters and sowing economic anxiety and frustration for millions of Americans.

Home prices rose in 83% of the nation’s 178 major real-estate markets in the second quarter, according to figures released Wednesday by the National Association of Realtors. Overall prices are now just 2% below the peak reached in July 2006, according to S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices.

But most of the price gains, economists said, stem from a lack of fresh supply rather than a surge of buyers. The pace of new home construction remains at levels typically associated with recessions, while the homeownership rate in the second quarter was at its lowest point since the Census Bureau began tracking quarterly data in 1965 and the share of first-time home purchases remains mired near three-decade lows.

The lopsided recovery has shut out millions of aspiring homeowners who have been forced to rent because of damaged credit, swelling student loans, tough credit standards and a dearth of affordable homes, economists said.

In all, some 200,000 to 300,000 fewer U.S. households are purchasing a new home each year than would during normal market conditions, estimates Ken Rosen, chairman of the Fisher Center of Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of California at Berkeley.

“I don’t think we are in a normal housing market,” said Lawrence Yun, chief economist at the National Association of Realtors. “The losers are clearly the rising rental population that isn’t able to participate in this housing equity appreciation. They are missing out on [a big] source of middle-class wealth.”
