I don’t know, And I am tired. Never more disappointed in this country. No way should this have ever been close.

      As a first step toward democratic primary presidential elections they could get rid of the super delegates. But they won’t. They aren’t any smarter today than they were on Monday. They are just mad because they thought they were going to get away with the dangerous game they played and squeak out a narrow victory. I thought so too.

    BURLINGTON, Vt., Nov. 9 – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement Wednesday after Donald Trump was elected president of the United States:

    “Donald Trump tapped into the anger of a declining middle class that is sick and tired of establishment economics, establishment politics and the establishment media. People are tired of working longer hours for lower wages, of seeing decent paying jobs go to China and other low-wage countries, of billionaires not paying any federal income taxes and of not being able to afford a college education for their kids – all while the very rich become much richer.

    “To the degree that Mr. Trump is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families in this country, I and other progressives are prepared to work with him. To the degree that he pursues racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-environment policies, we will vigorously oppose him.”

      What did U expect from white women? Did U really believe they would side with us? On election night they went home to their white men. At the end of the day they decided it was more important to be white than to be respected as women.

    Peanut called me at work. She was upset about Ferret Head, and needed reassurance from an Elder. She is only 8, and she was worried . 😞😞😞😞

      How were you able to reassure Peanut, Rikyrah?

      I was listening to NPR on the way home this evening, and one school had a mock election. The majority of the kids chose Trump.

      These kind of results tell me the kids parents, relative, whomever are schooling them to choose bigotry, misogyny, racism.

        That’s a good answer to reassure a child. And it’s good that Peanut asks about the things that worry her. But it is heartbreaking to think that children have to worry about this at all.

    … The Democratic Party has mastered lying to itself and its core constituencies. It claims a progressive identity, but is as moderate and lukewarm as it has ever been on so many issues that matter to everyday people. It claims to be tough on Wall Street, financial corruption and white collar crime, but is awash in donations from lobbyists and executives in the industry. Democrats claim to be the party of working people, but so often seem to be deeply out of touch with their problems and needs.

    The Party is nowhere near anti-war, but wants the undying support of peace activists. It claims to love the environment, but has spoken against the Dakota Access Pipeline with the strength of a gnat with one missing wing. Its strongest voting blocs are people of color. The overwhelming majority of white people, including women, voted for Trump, but the party insisted on having an all white presidential ticket.

    Until many of them were fired or replaced after the primary against Bernie Sanders, the senior leaders and puppet masters of the party were almost exclusively white as well. Of the hundreds of millions of dollars spent by the Democratic Party, an embarrassing 1.7% of that went to contractors of color. Do the math, that means 98.3% of Democratic funds go to white businesses.

    I could go on and on, but I’ll highlight one more terrible inconsistency within the party. Young people are the lifeblood of the Democratic Party. They are the idealists and dreamers. They overwhelmingly supported Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination, but for the first time in recent memory, the clear and obvious candidate of young people was not the choice of the Democratic Party establishment.

    The Democratic Party is having an identity crisis. While the groundswell of grassroots support in its base is anti-police brutality, pro-environment, pro-immigrant, anti-war, pro-$15 minimum wage, for the legalization of marijuana, and strongly against the Dakota Access Pipeline — the party in general, and Hillary Clinton in particular, lack core convictions on all of these issues and it shows. I’d be that nearly every single activist and leader in each of those niche communities will tell you that they feel like strangers in the Democratic Party.

    Before the Democratic primaries even began or any of the candidates had their first debate, Hillary Clinton and her team had already sowed up commitments from hundreds of career politicians to serve as her superdelegates — building her what often looked like an insurmountable lead. Even in states where Bernie Sanders beat Hillary Clinton by a landslide, party operatives routinely pledged their support to her anyway — all but ignoring the reality that Bernie was building the very type of populist movement that could have actually defeated Donald Trump.

    As we now see, this election was not about high-skilled political operatives, polls or even national campaign experience. Trump had none of that. This campaign was about large crowds, big events, momentum, tone and social media. Bernie did those things well. Bernie was the anti-Trump. Trump lacks integrity. Bernie is known for his. Trump is a shady billionaire who has stiffed tons of everyday people. Bernie has spent his whole life fighting for working class folk. Trump is a liar and Bernie is known for his straight-to-the-point honesty.

    Hillary Clinton was an absolutely terrible matchup for Donald Trump. I said as much in May when every poll that was released showed Bernie crushing Trump, but Hillary consistently struggling against him. Time and time and time again, polls showed Hillary struggling against Trump. Instead of taking the time to truly understand them, expert pundits and pollsters opted to repeatedly dismiss the validity or methodology of those polls. Clearly, polls like the LA Times/USC poll, which consistently showed Trump ahead, but was widely dismissed as junk science as a result, were on to something.

    But that was the M.O. of the Democratic Party from the time the primaries began until we were all gobsmacked by a Trump victory — dismiss all evidence that says anything other than Hillary Clinton was inevitable. But here we are.

    The Democratic Party can no longer ride the coattails of President Obama. The Democratic Party truly needs to start over from scratch and put people at its core. It clearly has no idea what it’s doing and has, as a result, put us all in danger.

        Yep. It’s all about the candidate and also how she became the candidate. She was the choice of the party leaders, not the people. So she had her run, I wonder if they are satisfied now that they know she couldn’t even win against the worst GOP candidate in history.

    Our Democracy is stronger than one man and one election. This grand experiment we call the United States has not failed. It has just begun.

    Today we heal.

    2018 we correct.

    2020 we redeem.

    Here’s my rant I posted on a local blog this AM:

    I’m in shock.

    I have always believed that the Democratic party elites played a very dangerous game, but I thought they were going to get away with it, just barely. The blame game should be interesting. Who will it be?Wikileaks? Bernie supporters? Gary Johnson? Jill Stein? Vladimir Putin? Social media? Millenials?

    This was the worst election of my lifetime.

    I’m still kind of amazed how the Democratic party rulers and faithful followers could be so deaf, dumb, and blind to what their own electorate was telling them. Remember those huge crowds that Bernie Sanders was speaking to?

    Naw, they thought they had this under control. “Hillary Clinton is uniquely qualified to be the president” they chanted endlessly. They hadn’t prepared for Bernie Sanders, but, as full believers in their own hype, their final solution to the Bernie problem was to squash him like a bug along with his supporters.

    Oh, but then there was the great coming together, the push for unity, the progressive platform that no one really believed in because, well, Hillary is not a progressive. She was pushed to the left but that didn’t actually count for much because the Democrats stopped talking about the progressive platform. They believed the most effective way to defeat Trump was to allow him to defeat himself. So, for months it has been, “Trump is a monster, racist, liar, misogynist, rapist, etc…”, all of which might be true but obviously does not win elections when employed as the core strategy.

    There was never a “Hillary coalition”. Hillary is not Barack Obama, she was not an inspirational candidate. She was the party’s pick, period. They were going to deliver the coronation that she was denied in 2008 and believed she was entitled to. To hell with the fact that the country has changed. Well, she’s had her run, and they have nowhere to go now except to either assign blame and/or plead for “unity”.

    The next time you hear the national anthem, do what Colin Kaepernick does, take a knee and weep for this country. Weep for what has been lost and outright squandered. Weep for those who will suffer, who will continue to suffer because political parties are so far removed from the realities of the lives of Americans that they cannot feel our pain or hear our cries.

    Well, now it’s a train wreck. No one even knows how bad this is going to be. The last gasp of white supremacy turns out to be more than a gasp.

    What I feel right now is mostly fear. I am way past disappointment. I am just very, very afraid. The last time I felt half this afraid was when the stock market crashed in 2008 just before the election.

    I didn’t see this coming. I always believed the Democratic party elites played a very dangerous game, but I thought they were going to get away with it. The blame game will be interesting.

    They say the darkest hour is just before dawn. We’ll see.

        Well, you know that on day one of his presidency he will be in so far over his head that he’ll probably question why he allowed his Obama Derangement Syndrome to take him so far. But it only makes him more dangerous. Right now I cannot be convinced that he is anything but dangerous.

        The Democrats need to be searching out the more moderate Republicans in Congress an win some allies so that Trump doesn’t completely take us off a cliff.
