Saturday Open Thread

Happy New Year’s Eve.

Goodbye 2016.

For those we have loved in the public eye, 2016 was BRUTAL.

2016-in-memoriam
This was done before George Michael, Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

Let’s say a few prayers for 2017.

The moment when your day turns around….

    You’re at your favorite bakery.

4 people in front of you.
1st guy – orders and order and orders…with every order..you get sad. Seems your trip might be for naught.
Finally, he leaves with 3 bags.

Then, here’s the situation…they have 2 slices left of their famous caramel cake…and three people.

The first two people are their for pickups….so now, there’s only one person…

The worker brings out the famous caramel cake, and you can feel your heart break as she puts the two slices in containers….and, you tune out as the person in front of you finishes their order. Watching the worker pack up their order, you look with sadness to see the caramel slices go away…

But, lo and behold……the worker only packs up ONE of the slices for the woman in front of you…

    Can it be??

    YES!!!

    She only ordered one….

YOU get the final caramel cake slice…

    and, your spirits are lifted!

I am SOOOO gonna enjoy that cake tonight….LOL

  2. I got it over with….

Baked Chicken, black eyed peas, cabbage, candied yams, cornbread, Custard Pie, Sweet Potato Pie, Pecan Pie, Dr Pepper

Jeff Sessions Omits Decades Of Records For His AG Confirmation Hearing
He once argued that doing this is a felony.

WASHINGTON ― President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general, Jeff Sessions, is withholding decades’ worth of records from his career ahead of his Senate confirmation hearings early next month, according to an exhaustive report issued Friday by progressive advocacy groups.
The groups, which include Alliance for Justice and People for the American Way, reviewed the questionnaire that Sessions filled out for the Senate Judiciary Committee ― it requires complete documentation of employment history, published writings, interviews and speeches, among other things ― and found “astonishingly deficient” responses. He left out major details from his years as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Alabama, from 1981 to 1993; as attorney general of Alabama, from 1995 to 1997; and as a first-term U.S. senator, from 1997 to 2002.
The gaps encompass the time, for example, when Sessions was nominated to be a federal judge in 1986 ― and then rejected after being deemed too racist.

    Statement from Burlington Electric Department:
“Last night, U.S. utilities were alerted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of a malware code used in Grizzly Steppe, the name DHS has applied to a Russian campaign linked to recent hacks,” said Mike Kanarick, spokesman for Burlington Electric Department. “We acted quickly to scan all computers in our system for the malware signature. We detected the malware in a single Burlington Electric Department laptop not connected to our organization’s grid systems. We took immediate action to isolate the laptop and alerted federal officials of this finding. Our team is working with federal officials to trace this malware and prevent any other attempts to infiltrate utility systems. We have briefed state officials and will support the investigation fully.”

    Good morning, Everyone.

Everyone seems glad to see 2016 end. I hate to be so negative, but short of Divine intervention, what hope is there for 2017?
