gq_band_promoGQ was an American group, formed in The Bronx, New York, primarily noted for its success in disco and R&B. The core membership of the group commenced playing professionally, under different group names, as of 1968.

GQ was first formed in 1968 as a quartet called Sabu & the Survivors, with “Sabu” being a moniker of member Keith Crier. The group then evolved in the 1970s as The Rhythm Makers, playing primarily funk music. They were Five Percenters. The Rhythm Makers were composed of Emanuel Rahiem Leblanc (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Keith “Sabu” Crier (bass and vocals).[1] Herb Lane (keyboards and vocals) and Kenny Banks (drums and vocals) The group released one album, Soul On Your Side in 1976 on the De-Lite Records subsidiary Vigor Records, from which the group had one major international dancefloor hit, “Zone”. At the time that Kenny Banks was replaced by Paul Service in 1978, and the group’s manager Tony Lopez suggested that the group name be changed to “GQ”, which stood for “good quality”.[2] They would sign with Arista Records.

GQ became quite successful playing music representative of the period’s disco influenced sound. They had several highly ranked singles in multiple markets (US Pop, US Black, US Disco/Club). Their biggest hit was 1979’s “Disco Nights (Rock-Freak)”, a single from their debut album Disco Nights, which reached #1 (for two weeks) on the R&B singles chart, #3 on the Hot Dance Club Play and #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. It sold over one million copies in the US alone. The track also peaked at #42 in the UK Singles Chart.[3] (It was a reworked version of The Rhythm Makers title-track to Soul On Your Side). The follow-up Billy Stewart remake, “I Do Love You”, was also successful, reaching #20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Steve Harvey: I won’t be attending Trump inauguration because my wife said no

Television personality Steve Harvey won’t be attending President-elect Trump’s inauguration because his wife won’t allow it.

Harvey met with Trump Friday at Trump Tower in New York City where the two discussed inner cities reform.

When asked by reporters after the meeting whether he would be attending Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, Harvey said he would not.

“No I’ll be turning 60 on Tuesday and my wife is taking me far away,” Harvey said. “So I won’t be at anybody’s inauguration because my wife said ‘no.’”

This new poll has all kinds of bad news for Donald Trump
    By Aaron Blake January 10

A new poll from Quinnipiac University suggests that Trump has reverted to his pre-election standing, with Americans having major concerns about his temperament and the direction in which his presidency will lead the country. Trump’s continued controversies seem to have put him right back where he was before he won the election.

Quinnipiac is the first high-quality pollster to poll on Trump twice since the election. And while its poll in late November showed his favorable rating rising from 34 percent to 44 percent, that number has dropped back to 37 percent, which is about where it stood for much of the campaign. That’s tied for Trump’s worst favorable rating in a poll since his election. And a majority — 51 percent — now have an unfavorable view of him.

Zoe Saldana Believes Hollywood Bullied Donald Trump

The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Avatar’ star says that the Hollywood community ‘became bullies’ in their treatment of candidate Trump.

    SNIP

Saldana’s latest film, Live By Night, contains a sequence where Ben Affleck’s bootlegger-gangster squares off against the Ku Klux Klan—a white supremacist organization that endorsed Donald Trump’s presidency. The actress explained how if we all work together, we won’t regress culturally.

But this is precisely how they prefer their women of color Ametia…

Not comfortable in their own skin, always looking for the approval and validation of white supremacists …mealy-mouthed…perpetually kowtowing and deferring, twisting themselves into pretzels, walking on eggshells, afraid to be or speak their truth…if they even know or remember what that is…

They are approved of for knowing their place and never speaking out of turn or out of place…and only speaking out when and if their voice is to be used to absolve Massah..

Overall, a good interview I would say. If PBO is serious what he said about healthcare (at the very end of the full interview), then he is taking repeal of Obamacare by the Two Satans (McConnell and Ryan) and Comrade Trump better than I am.

And, of course, every time we listen to PBO in these last days we are reminded of what will be lost.

There’s never been a time in my life when I have paid this much attention to a president leaving office and the “transfer of power.” That is probably true of a lot of people who are anticipating and fearing the dark days ahead.

There are no words that describe this.

So Jodi Kantor makes an appearance. Grifting & Lifting from the Obamas!

    SSMGDH

    • Liza says:

When I saw Jodi Kantor I knew this program would fall short, which it did.

Too much time spent talking about the haters, including a clip of Sarah Palin, and not a SINGLE word about FLOTUS’ work for military families. I know with only one hour minus commercials they have to pick and choose but they could have done better.

      • eliihass says:

Pulled out the random comment from 2007…and taken completely out of context…about her husband being snore-y…

Also gratuitously threw in and once again out of context, the ‘for the first time in my life, I’m really proud of my country’ bit…

But somehow managed to completely gloss over all of the malicious dehumanization of her that persists even in these last days in the White House…ironically too, by same ‘patriotic’ folk who now demand ‘unity’, ‘respect’ and support of Trump and his family, while in the same breath are still denigrating the sitting First Lady …addressing her as ‘Moochelle’ …calling her a man..

      • Liza says:

I noticed. I used the mute button several times.

They could have skipped over the media obsessions and spent more time on FLOTUS’ initiatives which they glossed over or omitted entirely. This program was supposed to be about her legacy which is huge.

They did get some things right, but they could have done so much better.

      • eliihass says:

Nothing about her very successful stint as the founding Executive Director of Public Allies…

Nothing about the very successful work she’s done with veterans and military families…the brilliant partnerships with an array of organizations and private industry – and the record-breaking numbers of veterans and military spouses employed through this effort…working with Mayors to end veteran homelessness…getting buy-in from all 50 State governors to waive the burdensome re-certification requirement for military spouses when deployed from State to State…

Nothing about the pertinent effort to provide healthy lunches for kids …and in the face of much obstruction and against all odds …and her work to fix the problem of food deserts…http://www.letsmove.gov/healthy-communities

But, we are going to be regaled Monday, with a documentary on Ivanka Trump – ‘business woman’, ‘fashion icon’..

        LOL ..

      • Liza says:

Yeah, they glossed over so much. Let Girls Learn is a major initiative and may end up being much of her life’s work in her post WH years. This is what a program about FLOTUS’ legacy should have been about.

Hoping to extend ‘Let Girls Learn’ beyond 2017, the Obamas lay out a road map

“…in a year and a half, Let Girls Learn has amassed more than $1 billion in support for federal programs to educate girls in 50 nations around the globe.”

Jodi’s just updated her book…so she’s pretty much flogging her book..

She’s been on so many shows this past week…and her obsession with FLOTUS is something…

      • Ametia says:

Grifting & the most feeble, transparent attempts @ diminishing FLOTUS. Lord, if she were to run for office, these miss Ann would catch a boat load of the vapors🙅

    • eliihass says:

Jodi Kantor is bad enough, but at least can claim to have interviews the Obamas early on for the New York Times….something this other even worse and even more offensive and despicable grifter named Kate Andersen Bower can’t even begin to claim…She supposedly wrote some book on modern First Ladies extracted from another one about the White House based on gossip from WH chefs and butlers etc. and in the case of Mrs Obama also from chats with idiotic, self-promoting verbal diarrhea afflicted opportunists like Reggie Love and Anita Dunn who otherwise usually gloss over the fact that the president has a wife..and to hear them tell it in other interviews I’ve seen of them, they aremore important and more relevant to the president than his wife – who they never ever mention…but they were game with the juice for this right-wing gossip.

But a closer look will show that when this Kate Andersen Brower isn’t pulling crap out of her b*tt, she’s pretty much recycling much of the negative rubbish to be found in the public domain…and with Mrs Obama, it’s mostly sourced from agenda-driven and hostile sources…and it’s a whole lot of mostly false, condescending and negative stereotypical drivel……for example, she claimed that FLOTUS’ favorite show is Real Housewives of Atlanta…when she and her cohorts are the very same folks who branded FLOTUS ‘entitled’ when it was leaked that she got advance copies of unaired seasons of her all-time favorite show, Downton Abbey…she also claimed that FLOTUS had ‘neither the understanding nor the respect for the administration’s smooth turning machinery’ the way Hillary did as First Lady..

And she’s brought on as an authority on Mrs Obama…including winging all manner of ridiculous crap…even as she’s supposedly a ‘credible’ source for all things Mrs Obama…including what the First Lady’s future plans are…LOL…

This is a woman who has never interviewed or interacted with the First Lady…someone the First Lady could not even pick out in a line-up…

      • Liza says:

“…she also claimed that FLOTUS had ‘neither the understanding nor the respect for the administration’s smooth turning machinery’ the way Hillary did as First Lady..”

It must have been Hillary’s understanding of the smooth turning machinery there in DC that enabled her epic fail in getting a universal healthcare bill legislated. Did she have this understanding before or after she learned that she would not be the co-president?

    • eliihass says:

Forgot to mention that this Kate Andersen Brower woman is pals with Steve Bannon who interviewed her for Breibart just before he officially joined the buffoon’s campaign..

Trump calls congressman, civil rights hero John Lewis ‘sad!’
    BY MEG WAGNER
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Updated: Saturday, January 14, 2017, 10:37 AM

President-elect Donald Trump took to Twitter to bite back at an long-serving congressman refusing to attend the inauguration, calling the Civil Rights leader “sad” and “all talk” on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday weekend.

“Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results,” he tweeted just after 8 a.m. Saturday.

“All talk, talk, talk — no action or results. Sad!” he added.

Comrade Trumpsky continues to dig a deeper hole for himself. Wow, he is off to a bad start. I’ve never seen anything like this.

No need to mention all those years he promoted the Birther movement against PBO’s legitimacy as a president.

    • Ametia says:

Yes; but can that orange POS COWARD sit in front of a camera with a talking head and say IT?

      NO

TRUMP has NO LEGITIMACY. If you have to seek approval, and when it’ not offered, or he’s criticized or challenged, he attacks.

      YOU GOT NOTHING

      NO.THING

    • eliihass says:

Thanks for sharing this Ametia…it’s so important for folks to understand what a scam the Charter school thing is mostly…especially in the hands of kooks like this DeVos woman… It’s important that people see and hear the devastation she’s caused in Michigan…

  7. Liza says:

So last night I watched PBS Newshour for awhile. David Brooks was giving his opinion of President Obama. He starts out with some general praise and so forth. But then he says something to the effect that spending the first two years on healthcare was a mistake and PBO missed the “equality” issues. I’m paraphrasing but that is the gist of it.

Since when is access to healthcare NOT an equality issue?

How come people on TV get to spew nonsense and get paid for it?

    • Ametia says:

So now David Brock comes out of dust bin now to speak about PBO?

These Monday morning QBs. To continue their attempt at widdle away at PBO’s legacy

Where is his girl Hillary? These MOFO are soooo transparent.

      • Liza says:

What is interesting is how these so called pundits like Brooks start off with praise before they deliver the kick to the balls. And I guess he figures he has to do that because it’s PBS not CNN or FOX.

These people contribute nothing, absolutely nothing.

      • eliihass says:

I think Liza meant neocon David Brooks…New York times columnist…not right-winger turned Clintonite David Brock …

      • Liza says:

Yes, that’s correct. David Brooks is a regular on PBS.
