I haven’t felt this kind of rage since November 9th.
But, rage, it is.
I’m glad that I told myself that I would NEVER get to the acceptance stage, so I’m back where I was on November 9th.
These sociopaths passed a bill that will remove Health Insurance for 24 MILLION – THAT WE KNOW OF, because that was the first version, and this version is so much worse.
WE KNOW that this is a TAX CUT BILL FOR MILLIONAIRES while taking away MEDICAID from the least of us.
Medicaid provides the funding for adults with disability (not just medical but living expenses like group home rent); medical care for low-income mothers and children; and medical care for the poor elderly, particularly those in nursing homes.
WE KNOW that this puts back in place that you can be denied coverage for PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS, which can range from exczema to cancer to SEXUAL ASSAULT.
WE KNOW that this comes down to being an AGE TAX on Senior Citizens.
WE KNOW that the high-risk pools are underfunded, so, the bullshyt line of people having ‘access’ is indeed just that, BULLSHYT. I have ‘access’ to a Mercedes and a Jaguar, but since I CAN’T AFFORD IT, I CAN’T GET IT. That’s ok, when it comes to a car…NOT SO MUCH WHEN IT COMES TO HEALTH INSURANCE.
WE KNOW NOW, that this is a race to the bottom, allowing states -‘the freedom’ to get rid of the Essential Benefits package.
WE KNOW NOW, that this opening up ‘choice’ across state lines – INCLUDES EMPLOYER-BASED COVERAGE – for those of you who didn’t think that this would apply to you.
WE KNOW that they also allow for lifetime limits in care, which means, past a certain number, you get no more care and then you DIE.
THIS ENTIRE BILL IS NOTHING BUT A DEATH PANEL.
We don’t know how much of a Death Panel, because we don’t have a CBO scoring of it yet.
And then, these sociopaths have the nerve to congratulate themselves, as if they’ve done a wonderful thing.
For everyone who voted for him..and the GOP
Go Phuck Yourself.
Never have I seen legislative action that reveals such clear disdain for the human dignity of the most vulnerable among us.

Obamacare repeal is based on racial resentment
MAY 05, 2017
House Republicans are taking health services away from disabled children, women who give birth, and survivors of rape and sexual assault. They are consigning thousands of people with serious illnesses to death by making them uninsurable in an era of unaffordable treatment. Virtually every reputable medical organization in the country condemns the health care bill that passed the House Thursday, but the GOP clings to two reasons for passing it.
First, Republicans claim that the new legislation provides economic benefits. These benefits are unclear, though reports suggest that they entail a transfer of resources from vulnerable people to rich people. The bill passed the House without a score from the Congressional Budget Office, so we can dismiss any economic justification for it without further discussion. Passing the bill without a score from the CBO is a signal that Republican legislators are not taking the economic dimensions of this issue seriously, so we can follow their lead and move on to the heart of the matter.
The other explanation given by House Republicans for passing the bill is political. These congressmen felt they had to repeal the Affordable Care Act because they promised to do so. Most Americans have no quibble with Obamacare itself, but for Republicans, repealing it is and always has always been a way to repudiate former president Barack Obama. Since taking office, President Trump has done several things that he previously chastised Obama for, but these contradictions have had little impact on his party or their supporters. This is largely because GOP voters’ disdain for Obama and support for Trump cannot be separated from findings about racism. Studies conducted after the election confirm that racial resentment directed toward people of color predicted both overall support for Trump and voters’ propensity to switch from Obama to Trump.
GOP voters know they don’t like Obama, but they do not know Obama’s legislative record, whether it pertains to the economic recovery or health care legislation. A December 2016 poll showed that 67 percent of Trump voters believed that unemployment had risen during Obama’s tenure, even though it dramatically declined. A February 2017 poll found that one third of all Americans did not even know that Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act were the same thing. Over half of the Republicans in that poll did not know whether Medicaid would be impacted by repealing Obamacare. Medicaid will be gutted by the new bill.

GOP chairman tells agencies to exclude info from FOIA requests
By Max Greenwood – 05/05/17 10:04 PM EDT
A House GOP chairman has instructed a dozen government agencies not to turn over communications with his panel as part of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, The Associated Press reported Friday.
House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) argued in one letter to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin last month that the communications did not fall under “agency records.”
“All such documents and communications constitute congressional records not ‘agency records’ for purposes of the Freedom of Information Act, and remain subject to congressional control even when in the physical possession of the Agency,” he wrote.
The letter to Mnuchin was first reported by BuzzFeed News. The AP obtained additional letters to agencies under Hensarling’s jurisdiction: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
………………..
But in his letters, Hensarling argued that his committee’s communications with the agencies could contain “sensitive and confidential” information and should remain in Congress’ control, thus excluding them the open records law.
The top Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, Rep. Maxine Waters (Calif.), told the AP that Hensarling has long made “intrusive and aggressive demands of agencies.”
“Anytime he’s called on it, he says that Congress has the right to conduct oversight,” she said. “And while Congress does have that right, it is the height of hypocrisy for him to take such extraordinary measures to shield himself from the oversight of the American public.”
Trump suggests financing for historically black colleges may be unconstitutional
President Donald Trump signaled Friday that he may not implement a 25-year-old federal program that helps historically black colleges finance construction projects on their campuses, suggesting that it may run afoul of the Constitution.
In a signing statement on the $1.1 trillion omnibus government spending bill, Trump singled out the Historically Black College and University Capital Financing Program as an example of provisions in the funding bill “that allocate benefits on the basis of race, ethnicity, and gender.”
Trump said his administration would treat those programs “in a manner consistent with the requirement to afford equal protection of the law under the Due Process Clause of the Constitution’s Fifth Amendment.”’
Previous presidents, including Barack Obama and George W. Bush, often issued such statements when they signed legislation to signal they may ignore or disregard parts of laws passed by Congress.
In his first signing statement, Trump outlines a range of provisions in the spending bill that he says would “unconstitutionally” limit his authority as commander in chief — and indicates that where the bill conflicts with the White House’s interpretation of the president’s powers under the Constitution, he will go with the Constitution.
…Cheryl Smith, senior vice president of public policy and government affairs at the United Negro College Fund, also known as UNCF, which advocates for private HBCUs, said in a statement that the organization is “puzzled by this provision and seeking clarification from the White House as to its meaning.”
Smith noted that the federal designation of an institution as an HBCU is not based on race, but rather on mission, accreditation status and the year the institution was established.” She speculated that the “signing statement may simply be the Office of Management and Budget being overly cautious and perhaps not fully understanding this important distinction as it relates to HBCUs, but UNCF needs more information regarding their thinking and intent.”
Under the program, which was created by Congress in 1992, the Education Department provides federally-backed loans to historically black colleges and universities for the construction of buildings and other facilities. The bill provides $20 million in federal loan subsidies in fiscal year 2017 to support as much as $282 million worth of financing to the schools…

Takes health insurance away from at least 24 million Americans; that was the number the CBO estimated for a previous version of the bill, and the number for this one is probably higher.
Revokes the Affordable Care Act’s expansion of Medicaid, which provided no-cost health coverage to millions of low-income Americans.
Turns Medicaid into a block grant, enabling states to kick otherwise-eligible people off their coverage and cut benefits if they so choose.
Slashes Medicaid overall by $880 billion over 10 years.
Removes the subsidies that the ACA provided to help middle-income people afford health insurance, replacing them with far more meager tax credits pegged not to people’s income but to their age. Poorer people would get less than they do now, while richer people would get more; even Bill Gates would get a tax credit.
Allows insurers to charge dramatically higher premiums to older patients.
Allows insurers to impose yearly and lifetime caps on coverage, which were outlawed by the ACA. This also, it was revealed today, may threaten the coverage of the majority of non-elderly Americans who get insurance through their employers.
More monstrous cruelty at the link above…
